manual that is not relevant for your system. General knowledge of pulse oximetry and an understanding of the features and functions of Kite are

About This Manual
This manual explains how to set up and use Kite® Supplemental Display. Important safety information relating to general use of Kite appears in this
manual. Read and follow any warnings, cautions, and notes presented throughout this manual. The following are explanations of warnings, cautions, and
notes.
A warning is given when actions may result in a serious outcome (for example, injury, serious adverse effect, death) to the patient or user.
WARNING: This is an example of a warning statement.
A caution is given when any special care is to be exercised by the patient or user to avoid injury to the patient, damage to this device, or damage to other
property.

Product Description
Kite is a supplemental display for Masimo medical devices on the same network. Kite allows for remote display of system and parameter data generated
by Masimo devices.
The following devices can display data on Kite:
•Radical-7®(standalone)
•Root®with:
•Radical-7®
•Radius-7®
•SedLine®
•ISA™
•O3®
•Rad-97™
Intended Use
Kite is a supplemental display intended to be used to view data from a standalone patient monitoring device. Kite can be used in hospital or hospital-like
environments.

Note: Please refer to the Operator's Manual or Directions For Use for Kite host device.
Safety Warnings and Cautions
WARNING: Do not adjust, repair, open, disassemble, or physically modify the Kite host device. Injury to personnel or equipment damage could occur.
Return the Kite host device for servicing.
WARNING: If Kite fails any part of the setup procedures or electrical safety tests, remove the device from operation until qualified service personnel have
corrected the situation.
WARNING: Do not place the Kite host device where it may be accessible by patients.
WARNING: Do not use the Kite host device if it appears or is suspected to be damaged.
WARNING: Do not use unauthorized devices with Kite. Possible loss of performance and/or patient injury may result.
WARNING: Do not place the Kite host device in any position that might cause it to fall on the patient.
WARNING: Kite host device should only be used in clinical environments in which it is approved to prevent patient injury or damage.
WARNING: To protect against injury, follow the directions below:
•Avoid placing the device or accessories on surfaces with visible liquid spills.
•Do not soak or immerse the device in liquids.
•Use cleaning solutions only as instructed in this operator's manual.
Performance Warnings and Cautions
WARNING: Kite does not generate or manage alarms. The connected device's alarms, used in conjunction with clinical signs and symptoms, are the
primary sources for determining that an alarm condition exists.
CAUTION: Kite is not a primary display. Medical decisions should be made using data from the primary display of a device in conjunction with clinical
signs and symptoms.
CAUTION: Kite is intended to operate across the facility's network. Unanticipated failure or alteration of network components (including but not limited
to: disconnection or malfunctioning of a networking device/switch/router/ethernet cable) may result in loss of connectivity of Kite to other hospital
systems. Altering or making changes to the hospital network should be done with proper knowledge.
CAUTION: The Quality of Service (QoS) of connectivity to the Point-of-Care (POC) devices may be affected by:
•Network failure
•Increased number of connected devices on the network
•Modifications to the network
•Presence of devices provided with radio transmitters
•Improper network configuration on POC
•Signal priorities of the network
•Latency
CAUTION: Network performance may be affected by changes in the network including the addition of additional network devices.
CAUTION: To prevent tampering, the Kite host device should be located with responsible personnel.
CAUTION: Do not place the Kite host device on electrical equipment that may affect the device and prevent it from working properly.
CAUTION: To ensure proper system operation, always verify successful connection between POC devices and Kite.
Cleaning and Service Warnings and Cautions
WARNING: Do not autoclave, pressure sterilize, or gas sterilize the Kite host device.
WARNING: Use cleaning solutions only as instructed in the Operator's Manual for the Kite host device.
Note: Modifications to Kite's settings, and those of any components connected thereto, should be made by qualified personnel only.
Note: Kite host device installation must be completed by Masimo or an authorized service department.

WARNING: Do not attempt to repair or modify any part of Kite host device doing so may void the warranty or the authorization to use the Kite host device.
WARNING: Disposal of product - Comply with local laws in the disposal of Kite host device and/or its accessories.
WARNING: When using devices with wireless features outside the United States, consideration should be taken to local government frequency allocations
and technical parameters to minimize the possibility of interference to/from other wireless devices.
WARNING: In accordance with international telecommunication requirements, the frequency band of 2.4 GHz and 5.15 to 5.25 GHz is only for indoor
usage to reduce potential for harmful interference to co-channel mobile satellite systems.
Note: Refer to the Kite host device's Operator's Manual or Directions For Use for Kite for FCC compliance information before use.

Chapter 1: Description
Overview
Kite is a supplemental display for system and parameter data generated by Masimo devices. While viewing device data displayed on Kite, various
components of the display can be manipulated. The diagram and table below outline the Kite display components. For more information, see Navigating
the Kite Display on page 23.
Note: Root with rainbow®, O3, Capnography, and SedLine is shown in the example below.
Note: For complete information on setup and use, refer to the Operator's Manual or Directions For Use for Kite host device.
Note: For proper operation, Kite host device and Masimo devices must be connected to the same network. For more information, contact your network
administrator.
Note: Kite is not a diagnostic tool.

1Device Information
Identifies the device whose parameters are currently being displayed. Press/select the device icon to view
device information.
See Viewing Device Information on page 27.
2Channels
Displays up to four (4) channels, depending upon device connection availability. Each channel has a trend view
and well that displays expanded/minimized parameter data. Optional channels include:
•rainbow®
•Capnography
•SedLine
•O3

3Menu Disconnect from the current device or view Kite software version.
See Disconnecting /Changing a Device on page 21.
4Device Alarm/Message Display Displays active device alarms and messages. See the device's operator's manual for further information about
managing device alarms and messages.
5Plethysmographic, Signal IQ, and
Acoustic Waveforms
Plethysmographic, Signal IQ, and Acoustic waveforms can be viewed as combined or separated.
See Expanding/Collapsing Waveform Displays on page 26.
6 Trend View
Displays channel parameter measurements, trend graphs, value range, numeric value, alarm limits and
parameter label. Parameters can be moved from trend view to the well to minimize parameter data.
See Customizing Channel Windows on page 24 and Using Trend View on page 23.
7 Well
Displays minimized channel parameter data. Parameters can be moved from the well to the trend view to show
more detailed parameter data.
See Customizing Channel Windows on page 24.
8 Capnography Waveform Option to enable/disable capnography waveform.
See Expanding/Collapsing Waveform Displays on page 26.
9Trend Settings
Allows trend time intervals to be configured in Kite. Trend settings configured in Kite do not affect trend
settings in a device. To configure trend settings in a device, see the device's operator's manual.

10 Date Displays the date and timestamp of the data being viewed.

Registering/Logging In to Kite
Registering a New User
A new user must register in Kite. Follow the instructions below to register a new user account. If a user account has already been registered, see Logging In
to Kite on page 15.
Note: New users, unregistered users, or users that do not know their login credentials are required to register a new user account in Kite.
1. Press/select the Kite icon to open the application.
2. On the bottom of the Login screen, press/select Forgot your password? Register.

3. In the Register screen:
•Enter a Username.
•Enter a Password.
•Enter the password again in the Confirm Password field.
•Enter MasimoKite7283 (case sensitive) into the Key field.
•Press/select the Register button to complete the new user registration.
4. After pressing/selecting the Register button, the user account will automatically log in to Kite and the device list screen will appear.
•To connect Kite to a device in the list, see Connecting to a Device on page 19.
•If the desired device is not in the list, see Adding a Device to Kiteon page 17.
•To log out of a Kite user account, see Logging Out of Kite on page 16.

Logging In to Kite
Follow the instructions below to log in to Kite. If a user does not have a registered account, or if they have forgotten their login credentials, they will not be
able to log in to Kite and must register as a new user. See Registering a New User on page 13.
1. Press/select the Kite icon to open the application.
2. In the Login screen, enter login credentials:
•Enter USERNAME.
•Enter PASSWORD.
3. Press/Select the LOGIN button.
4. After successful login, the device list will appear.
•To connect Kite to a device in the list, see Connecting to a Device on page 19.
•If the desired device is not in the list, see Adding a Device to Kite on page 17.
•To log out of a Kite user account, see Logging Out of Kite on page 16.

Logging Out of Kite
Follow the instructions below to log out of a user account.
1. While viewing the Kite display, press/select the menu icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
2. In the drop-down menu, press/select Disconnect.
3. In the device list, press/select the menu icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
4. Press/select Log Out.
5. After successfully logging out, the Login screen will appear. To log in to a user account, see Logging In to Kite on page 15.

Adding a Device to Kite
Follow the instructions below to add a device to a Kite user account.
Note: The device must be configured to the same network IP address as the Kite host device to be able to display device parameter data. The Masimo
Sketch™ software tool is used to configure a device to a desired network IP address. For more information about Sketch, see the Operator's Manual, Sketch.
For more information about configuring the host device's network settings, see the Operator's Manual or Directions For Use for the host device.
1. In the bottom-right corner of the device list screen, press/select the Add Device button .
2. In the Details screen:
•Enter the device's desired label in the Name field.
•Enter the device IP address. Refer to the device operator's manual for more information to locate device WiFi or Ethernet IP addresses.
•Select the Device Type.
•Determine if a secured connection will be used.
•If a Secured Connection is needed, see Using a Secured Connection on page 18.
•If a Secured Connection is not used, press/select the check mark in the bottom-right corner of the screen to add the device .
3. The device will appear in the device list. To view the device's parameter data on Kite, see Connecting to a Device on page 19.

Using a Secured Connection
Follow the instructions below to use a Secured Connection when adding a device to Kite.
1. After selecting the device type, enable Secured Connection.
2. Press/select Client Certificate (.bks).
3. Use the browse function to select the .bks file. The exact location of the file may vary.
4. Enter the password provided by Masimo.
5. Press/select the check mark in the bottom-right corner of the screen to add the device .
6. The device will appear in the device list screen. To view the device's parameter data on Kite, see Connecting to a Device on page 19.
