The m tt:e Electric Vehicle Charger Connection Units are esigne for
use in commercial applications where 3 phase PME supplies are
fee ing Electric Vehicle Chargers.
This manual covers the ARD-1-100TP unit.
The unit is not inten e for any purpose other than that efine within
this ocument.

Intro uction
The m tt:e range of Electric Vehicle Charger Connection Units are
fitte with O-PEN technology esigne to protect Electric Vehicle
Charging equipment when installe onto 3 phase PME infrastructures.
The unit incorporates two 5 pole isolators with a built-in un er-voltage
release mechanism. On etection of fault con itions the O-PEN
electronic circuit e-energises the un er-voltage release mechanism
which isconnects all poles of the supply inclu ing CPC. The 5 pole
isolator will automatically reset after a PEN fault but must be manually
reset after an overcurrent fault in line with IET Wiring Regulations an
co e of practice.
The m tt:e O-PEN technology oes not require earth ro s or measuring
electro es to function correctly.
The units are esigne to be installe in oors between the istribution
boar an the Electric Vehicle Charger. The unit must be mounte
securely to a soli surface with the li hinges on the left.
The inst ll tion loc tion should be cle n, dry nd well ventil ted.

Electrical Connections
The user wiring connections are in icate in the iagrams below.

Connect the incoming cable from the istribution boar irectly to the
4 pole isolator. The CPC shoul be connecte to the terminal block
Connect the outgoing cable an CPC to the terminal blocks.
THIS PRODUCT IS DESIGNED FOR AN ISOLATED
EARTHING ARRANGEMENT. CHECK BEFORE USING
SWA CABLE
On completion of inst ll tion the tightness of ll electric l
connections should be checked before energising the unit.
See specific tions for tightening torques.

Operating Instructions
With the incoming isolator close the unit will monitor the incoming
supply. If no fault con ition is present approximately 1 secon after
closing the incoming isolator the O-PEN monitor will energise the
un er-voltage release mechanism of the 5 pole isolator (in icate by
the green LED illuminating). At this point the 5 pole isolator can be
close to connect the loa to the incoming supply. Alternatively wait
30 secon s an the isolator will automatically close.
In the event the O-PEN unit etects a fault con ition on the monitore
supply for a perio of 4 secon s the internal relays will e-energise an
remove the supply to the un er-voltage release mechanism of the 5
pole isolator. This will cause the 5 pole isolator to open isconnecting
all phases, neutral an CPC from the loa .
Once the fault con ition has cleare the O-PEN unit will reset after a 3
minute perio an the 5 pole isolator will automatically reclose 30
secon s after.
Test Function
A Test Switch is provi e to allow the functionality of the
units to be checke . With the unit powere an the 5 pole
isolator close rotate the Test Switch anti-clockwise to
position O to initiate a test. This will isconnect L1 from the O-PEN
monitor an create a fault con ition. After 0.7 secon s the O-PEN
monitor will trip the 5 pole isolator by e-energising the un er-voltage
release mechanism.
Return the Test Switch to position I to clear the fault con ition.
The O-PEN unit will reset after 3 minutes.
We recommen the unit is teste on a 6 monthly basis.

manufacture.
This warranty is limite to the replacement of faulty components only.
