INSTRUCTIONS • MODEL RF-02
INTRODUCTION
Your Model RF-02 Digital Refrigerator/Freezer Thermometer is the
newest and most innovative electronic thermometer that accurately
indicates the instant temperature of your refrigerator and freezer. It also
computes and displays the weekly average temperatures for both. You
can set weekly average temperature maximums. This is monitored and
indicated by four small lights. Two green lights if the average weekly
temperature for both your refrigerator and freezer are within the range
of set maximum temperature +/- 3ºF and red if they are out of the
range.
COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
• Remove the battery cover by sliding it off in the direction of the
ribbed arrow and insert 2 - 1.5 Volt AAA batteries into the battery
compartment. Snap battery cover door shut.
• The unit LCD will show HI for instant freezer & refrigerator
temperatures and - - for average freezer & refrigerator temperatures.
The two red lights will also be on.
• To set Average Freezer temperature maximum press the MODE
button once. The SET icon will appear in the top of the LCD and the
Average Freezer temperature will flash. While it is flashing press the
SET button until the desired maximum temperature is displayed. The
USDA recommends 0ºF. Do not touch any buttons for 3 seconds.
Once the Average Freezer temperature stops flashing it is set. The
Average Freezer SET range of the unit is –22ºF to 32ºF.
• To set Average Refrigerator temperature maximum press the MODE
button. The SET icon will appear in the top of the LCD and the
Average Freezer temperature will flash. Press the MODE button
again. Now the Average Refrigerator temperature is flashing. Press
the SET button until the desired maximum temperature is displayed.
The USDA recommends between 37ºF - 40ºF. Do not touch any
buttons for 3 seconds. Once the Average Refrigerator temperature
stops flashing it is set. The Average Refrigerator SET range of the
unit is 23ºF to 50ºF.
• Remove the mounting bracket from the unit. Remove the non-stick
tape paper from the adhesive tape and stick the mounting bracket on
the left wall of the refrigerator compartment near the top and front so
it can be easily viewed when the refrigerator door is opened.
• Attach the unit on the mounting bracket and place the freezer probe
wire in the freezer. Be careful not to pinch the wire in door hinge or
any place else with a sharp edge. The wire should exit the refrigerator
so it lies flat against the body of the refrigerator. There are two
mounting clips with adhesive tape to help position the freezer wire
and probe.
• Replace the batteries if the LCD becomes blurry.
