About these operating instructions
Thank you for choosing our product. We hope you enjoy using it.
Read the safety instructions carefully before using the device for the first time. Note the warnings on the
device and in the operating instructions.
Always keep the operating instructions close to hand. If you sell the device or give it away, please
ensure that you also pass on these operating instructions. They are an essential component of the
product.

Proper use
Proper use
This is a home entertainment device.
The portable Bluetooth sound system is used to play back audio that can be streamed via USB,
Bluetooth or AUX. In addition, radio broadcasts can be played back and the portable Bluetooth
sound system can also be used as a karaoke system or PA amp.
The reception range specified indicates the technical capabilities of the device. Information re-
ceived outside this range may not be used or disseminated further. The respective state laws
must be observed.
Please note that no liability will be accepted if the device is used for an improper purpose:
− Do not modify the device without our express agreement and do not use any accessories that
have not been supplied or approved by us.
− Only use replacement parts or accessories that we have supplied or approved.
− Observe all the information in these operating instructions, especially the safety information.
Any other use is deemed improper and may cause personal injury or damage to property.
− Do not use the device in areas where there is a risk of explosion. This includes, for example,
fuel pumps, fuel storage areas or areas in which corrosive agents are processed. This device
should also not be used in areas where the air is contaminated with particles (e.g. flour or
sawdust).
− Do not use the device outdoors.
− Do not expose the device to extreme conditions. Avoid:
−high humidity or wet conditions
−extremely high or low temperatures
−direct sunlight
−open flame.

− Before using for the first time and after each use, check the portable Bluetooth sound system
and accessories for damage.
− Do not use the portable Bluetooth sound system or accessories if they show signs of damage,
if you see smoke or hear abnormal noises during operation. If this happens, switch off the
power point immediately and pull out the plug.
− Keep the device and its accessories out of the reach of children.
− This device can be used by children aged 8 years and older and by people with reduced phys-
ical, sensory or mental capacity or with a lack of experience and/or knowledge but only with
proper supervision or if they have been told how to use the device safely and have under-
stood the risks involved if they use it improperly.
− Children must not be allowed to play with the device.
− Do not allow children to clean the device or perform maintenance on it unless they are aged
8years and older and are properly supervised.
− Do not allow children under 8 years of age near the device and its power cord.

Setting up the device safely
NOTICE!
Damage to device through improper handling
New devices can give off a typical, unavoidable but completely harmless odour in their first
hours of operation, which becomes less and less noticeable over time.
We recommend that you air the room regularly to counter this odour. When developing this
product, we took care to ensure that the relevant values are significantly below the statutory
limits.
− Place and operate the portable Bluetooth sound system on a stable, level and vibration-free
surface to prevent the device from falling over.
− Do not place any containers filled with liquid, such as vases, on or near the device and power
cord. The container may tip over and the liquid may impair electrical safety.
− Protect the device and all connected devices from moisture, drips or splashes of water. Avoid
dust, heat and direct sunlight in order to prevent malfunctions.
− Do not place any sources of open flame, such as burning candles, on or near the devices.
WARNING!
Risk of fire!
There is a risk of fire if the device is handled incorrectly.
− Do not cover the portable Bluetooth sound system with objects (magazines, blankets, etc.) to
avoid overheating.
− Do not place any objects on the cords because this could damage them.
− Maintain a distance of at least one metre from sources of high-frequency and magnetic inter-
ference (televisions, other speakers, mobile phones, etc.) to avoid malfunctions.
− All multimedia devices that are connected to the device must meet the requirements of the EU
Low Voltage Directive.
Power supply
− The power point must be near the device and always be easily accessible. Lay the cord in such
a way that no-one can step on it or trip over it.
− To disconnect your device from the power supply, switch off the power point and unplug the
device. Always hold on to the plug itself when unplugging the device. To prevent damage,
never pull on the cord itself.

Safety information
− Only operate the device from an earthed, easily accessible power point with a voltage of
100–240V ~ 50/60 Hz. If you are not sure about the electricity supply at the location where you
are setting up the device, check with your local electricity supply company.
− Stop using the power cord if one of the two plugs or the cord is damaged.
− As long as the mains plug is connected to a functioning power point that is switched on, the
portable Bluetooth sound system is also supplied with power to charge the battery, even in
standby mode.
WARNING!
Risk of injury!
− Do not under, any circumstances, open the housing of the device. Any contact with live parts
or modifications to the electrical and mechanical structure are dangerous and may lead to
device malfunctions.
NOTICE!
In the event of a storm or if you do not intend to use the device for some time, disconnect it from
the mains power supply.
− When the device is not in use, switch off the power point and pull out the plug or use a power
board you can switch off to avoid using electricity when the device is turned off.
− The mains plug of the portable Bluetooth sound system is used as a disconnect device. As
long as the portable Bluetooth sound system is connected to mains power, the components
inside are live, even when switched off.
− Switch off the power point and pull out the plug in order to disconnect the power from the
portable Bluetooth sound system completely.
− The power cord and the mains plug must not be handled with wet hands.
− Do not insert any objects into the openings. There is a risk of electric shock.
− Do not use the portable Bluetooth sound system or the accessories if they show signs of dam-
age, if you see smoke or hear abnormal noises during operation. If this happens, switch off
the power point immediately and pull out the plug.
Ambient temperature
• The device can be operated in an ambient temperature of between 5°C and +35°C.
• When the device is switched off, it can be stored at temperatures between 0°C and 40°C.
• Only use the device in a dry environment.
DANGER!
Risk of electric shock!
In the event of significant fluctuations in temperature or humidity, condensation may cause
moisture to build up within the device, which can cause an electrical short circuit.
− After transporting the device, wait until it has reached the ambient temperature before oper-
ating it.
Use of rechargeable batteries
The portable Bluetooth sound system is operated with a integrated battery. Please observe the
following advice concerning the battery:

There is a risk of explosion if batteries are not handled properly.
− Do not throw the device into a fire, do not short-circuit it and do not take it apart.
− The portable Bluetooth sound system should not be charged without supervision.
Repair
− Only have your device repaired by qualified personnel.
− Contact Customer Service if:
• the power cord is scorched or damaged
• liquid has penetrated the device
• the device is not functioning properly
• the device has been dropped or the housing has been damaged.
DANGER!
Risk of electric shock!
There is a risk of electric shock due to live parts.
− Under no circumstances should you try to open and/or repair the portable Bluetooth sound
system yourself. There is a risk of electric shock. Inspection of internal components, modifi-
cations and repairs may only be performed by qualified technicians. Take the product to an
authorised service centre for inspection.

− Take the product out of the packaging and dispose of all the packaging material.
− Please check your purchase to ensure that all items are included and undamaged. If anything is missing or
damaged, please contact us within 14 days of purchase.

PACKAGING MATERIAL IS NOT A TOY!
Before first use
− Remove the device from the packaging.
− Ensure that all packaging material has been removed.
− Connect the supplied power cord to the mains power socket 25 of the device.
Mains operation – connecting the power cord
− Connect the supplied power cord to the mains power socket of the device.
− Connect the plug of the power cord to a readily accessible mains power point.
Internal battery
As soon as the party speaker is connected to a mains power point, the integrated battery starts charging automat-
ically. The CHARGE LED 13 will turn red while charging.
When the charging process is complete and the integrated battery is fully charged, the CHARGE LED will turn
green.
If the battery charge is too low, the CHARGE LED will start to flash red.
Setting up the device
− Place the device on a level, firm surface. Some types of aggressive furniture varnish can attack the rubber feet
of the device. If necessary, place the device on a protective surface.
Radio antenna
There is an antenna 23 on the back of the main device. Unwind it completely and position it to optimise
reception.
Switching on / standby
− Switch the POWER switch to the ON position to turn the device on.
The display will light up.
NOTICE!
If the portable Bluetooth sound system is operated using the internal battery or mains power,
the portable Bluetooth sound system will switch to standby mode automatically after 15 minutes
without a signal source.
If the portable Bluetooth sound system is operated using the internal battery, it will switch auto-
matically to standby mode if the battery charge is low.
− Press the SOURCE/ 7button to switch the device back on.

Switching on / standby
Adjusting the volume
− Turn the volume knob 11 towards to increase the volume or towards to reduce the volume.
NOTICE!
The portable Bluetooth sound system always starts at the same volume, regardless of the last volume setting.
Super Bass
− Press the SUPER BASS button 16 to activate the bass boost.
When the bass boost is activated, BASS appears on the display.
− Press the SUPER BASS button again to deactivate the bass boost.
Equaliser
− Press the EQ button 19 repeatedly to activate one of the pre-installed settings.
The following settings are pre-programmed:
• FLAT
• POP
• CLASSIC
• JAZZ
• ROCK
Party light
− Press the LIGHT button 5repeatedly to activate a pre-installed light setting.
The following settings are pre-programmed:
• Speaker LEDs glow blue continuously and L-1 appears on the display.
• Speaker LEDs flash blue and L-2 appears on the display.
NOTICE!
From a certain volume, the speaker LEDs will flash in time to the music.
• Speaker LEDs glow red and L-3 appears on the display.
• Speaker LEDs flash red and L-4 appears on the display.
NOTICE!
From a certain volume, the speaker LEDs will flash in time to the music.
• Speaker LEDs flash in different colours and L-5 appears on the display.
NOTICE!
From a certain volume, the speaker LEDs will flash in time to the music.

Connecting an external playback device
− Press and hold the LIGHT button down for approx. 2 seconds to choose between the following advanced
settings:
• outer speaker LED ring glows blue continuously and E-1 appears on the display.
• outer speaker LED ring glows red continuously and E-2 appears on the display.
• outer speaker LED ring flashes red /blue alternately and E-3 appears on the display.
Connecting an external playback device
You can use the AUX IN 1port to connect to an external playback device (e.g. CD player or MP3 player).
− Switch the POWER switch 10 to the OFF position to put the device in standby mode.
− Switch off your external device.
− Plug one end of a 3.5 mm audio jack (not supplied) into the AUX IN port on the top of the device.
− Connect the other end of the cable to your external device.
− Switch on your external device.
− Switch the portable Bluetooth sound system on by pressing the SOURCE/ button .
NOTICE!
Turn the portable Bluetooth sound system on by switching the POWER switch to the ON position.
− Press the SOURCE/ button several times until AUH (AUX) appears on the display. The audio signal of your
external device will now play back.
Radio
− If necessary, press the SOURCE/ 7button one or more times to switch to radio mode. The display will
show FM and the current frequency.
NOTICE!
After a electrostatic discharge affecting the device, in some instances the device may take up to 4 minutes to start
playing the last radio station received again.
Tuning the station
− Press the /TUN. + 9or /Tun.- 17 briefly to tune to a particular frequency.
Hold one of the buttons down to automatically scan for the next station.
NOTICE!
The frequency of the radio stations changes in 0.05 MHz increments.
However this is not displayed. Instead, the last digit flashes once without changing.
− Press the /TUN. + or /TUN.- buttons as often as needed until you have selected the desired frequency.
Saving and loading stations
Automatically saving stations
− Hold the / /AMS 8button down until the station scan starts automatically.
All the stations found will now be saved automatically in order, starting with the lowest frequency. Stations
already saved will be overwritten without further prompting.
− Press the /TUN.+ or /Tun.- button to stop saving automatically.

Insert USB flash drive
Saving stations manually
− Tune to a station that you wish to save.
− Press the P-MODE/M. 18 button. The preset number will flash on the display (e.g. P01).
− Choose the preset number you want the station to be saved under using the 10/M./FOLD. 20 or 10/M./
FOLD. 21 buttons.
− Press the P-MODE/M. button again to finish saving the station.
Loading stations
− Press the 10/M./FOLD. or 10/M./FOLD. buttons one or more times. The preset station will show on the
display (e.g. P01).
Insert USB flash drive
− Insert the USB flash drive into the desired USB slot.
− Press the SOURCE/ 7button one or more times to change to the desired operating mode: USB1 will
appear when operating via the USB1 port, and USB2 when operating via the USB2 port.
If no USB flash drive is inserted into the USB slot selected, NO appears on the display.
NOTICE!
You can only connect USB flash drives using the USB ports. External hard drives are not supported. Please note the
following:
• Due to the multitude of different file systems and file formats, we cannot guarantee that the storage media
you connect will function.
• Depending on the size of the storage medium, it may take some time before the system is recognised.
• The supported file systems are FAT16 and FAT32, and the supported file format is MP3.
Start/pause playback
− Press the /AMS button 8briefly to start track playback.
− To pause playback, press the / /AMS button again.
Playback is paused and the elapsed time for that particular file flashes on the display.
− Pressing the / /AMS button once more resumes playback.
NOTICE!
The portable Bluetooth sound system always starts playback with the last file played.
Selecting track, rewind/fast forward
− Press the /TUN.- 17 button to return to previous track.
− Press the /TUN.+ 9button again to jump back to the previous track.
− Hold the /TUN.- button down to fast rewind within a track, and use /TUN. + to fast forward.
Selecting the folder
When you play MP3 files, they can be stored in various folders to keep them organised.
− To change folders on an MP3 storage medium, press and hold down the 10/M./FOLD. 20 or 10/M./FOLD.
21 button. The folders are shown in order.
Repeat function/shuffle
You can decide what order the tracks are played in.

Insert USB flash drive
Proceed as follows:
− Press the P-MODE/M. button 18 until the display shows to play the current track on repeat.
− Press the P-MODE/M. until the display shows to play all tracks on repeat.
If there is more than one folder on the storage medium, the display will also show and the con-
tents of the current folder will be played on repeat.
− Press the P-MODE/M. button again to change to random mode.
− Press the P-MODE/M. button repeatedly until the display shows RAND to start playback in shuffle mode.
− Press the P-MODE/M. button again to pause shuffle playback.
Connecting the device via Bluetooth®
Bluetooth operation allows the wireless reception of audio signals from an external Bluetooth-capable audio out-
put device. Make sure that the distance between the two devices is no more than 10 metres.
NOTICE!
Only one Bluetooth device can be paired with the portable Bluetooth sound system at a time. It is not possible to
connect it to a smartphone and an audio output source at the same time.
Bluetooth-capable output device
To connect a Bluetooth-capable audio output device, proceed as follows:
− Switch the portable Bluetooth sound system on and select BT mode with the SOURCE/ 7button.
The device is in search mode. During the search, the PAIR LED 14 rapidly flashes blue and bt appears on the
display.
NOTICE!
The device is attempting to connect automatically to the last audio output device connected via Bluetooth. If this is
not possible, the Bluetooth speaker transmits its device identification via Bluetooth and the PAIR LED 14 rapidly
flashes blue.
− Press the SOURCE/ 7button if the device is not in Bluetooth mode.
− Switch on the Bluetooth function on your audio output device and activate the search mode in order to pair
the devices.
NOTICE!
If necessary, refer to the operating instructions for your audio output device for information about its Bluetooth
function and the operation of your audio output device.
The device name of the portable Bluetooth sound system (MD 43438) will be displayed as soon as the signal is
found.
− If it is necessary to provide a password, enter 0000.
The pairing of the two devices is complete when the LED display glows blue and an alert tone sounds.
The following functions can be controlled via the portable Bluetooth sound system on your output device:
− Press the /AMS button 8briefly to start track playback.
− To pause playback, press the / /AMS button again.
− Press the /TUN.- 17 button to return to the previous track.
− Press the /TUN+ 9button again to jump to the next track.

Connecting microphones
NOTICE!
The volume can be set both on the portable Bluetooth sound system and on the output device connected via
Bluetooth.
We recommend setting the volume on your Bluetooth-capable output device to maximum and performing the
fine adjustment of the volume on the portable Bluetooth sound system.
Please note that due to different firmware and software versions, in some cases not all operating functions will be
available.
− Hold the / /AMS 8button down for approx. 2 seconds to disconnect the Bluetooth and start a new pair-
ing process.
Connecting microphones
The microphone can be used in all operating modes.
You can use up to 2 microphones at the same time. You can purchase additional microphones at specialist
retailers.
You can use microphones to play back your amplified voice.
Proceed as follows to connect the microphones:
− Switch off the portable Bluetooth sound system if necessary.
− Plug the microphone into the desired microphone socket MIC 1 2or MIC 2 3.
− Push the microphone switch to the ON position.
− Set the desired announcement volume with the MIC-VOL. control 15 .
− Press the ECHO 6button to use the echo function.
− Press the ECHO button again to switch off the echo function.
− Push the microphone switch to the OFF position after use.
For information on using microphones from other manufacturers, refer to the associated operating instructions.
Cleaning
Before you clean the device, always switch off the power point and unplug the device first.
Use only a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use any chemical solvents and cleaning products because they can
damage the surface and/or the labelling on the device.
Do not allow any liquid to get inside the portable Bluetooth sound system.
Storing the device when not in use
If you are not going to use the portable Bluetooth sound system for an extended period, store
it in a cool, dry location and make sure that the device is
protected from dust and extreme fluctuations in temperature.
