MOUNTING CONSIDERATIONS
The MKA-57 Quick Release Bracket is designed to be locked in
two different positions. The first position aligns the Top Plate and
Bottom Plate and locks them in place with the Cam Lever.
This position is used when the motor is operating. The second
position allows the Top Plate to slide inboard 10 inches before it is
locked in place. This position is used during transport.
When checking motor clearance for a mounting location, give
consideration to the following:

1. The MKA-57 is compatible with freshwater and saltwater
electric-steer, bow-mount, QUEST series trolling motors,
including the Riptide Instinct QUEST, Ulterra QUEST, Riptide
Terrova QUEST and Terrova QUEST. The base extrusion of the
trolling motors may vary. Please note the appearance of the
base extrusion for each trolling motor.
2. It is recommended that the motor be mounted as close to
the centerline or keel of the boat as possible. Installation of
the Bottom Plate requires the use of all six mounting bolts.
Mounting bolts spaced furthest apart will create the most
stability. Ensure that the mounting location is flat and that the
area under the mounting location is clear to drill holes and
install hardware.

CAUTION
An incorrectly secured trolling motor may cause injury.
Installation of the Bottom Plate requires the use of all six
mounting bolts. Ensure that the mounting location is flat and
that the area under the mounting location is clear to drill holes
and install hardware. Avoid injury from an incorrectly secured
trolling motor by following the installation instructions.

NOTICE: The mounting surface for the Bottom Plate must
be completely flat. Rubber Washers (Part #2321710) can
be used to shim the Bottom Plate flat before hardware is
tightened. The Top Plate will not fit correctly unless the
Bottom Plate is installed completely flat.
5. This installation requires the use of hardware that was included
with your trolling motor. Six Backup Bars (Part #2371796) and
six Rubber Washers (Part #2321710) from the motor hardware
bag assembly (Part #2994948) are required.
6. With the motor in the stowed position, ensure that there is
enough room for the Shaft and Control Head and that they do
not extend off the side of the boat.

3. The motor must not encounter any obstructions as it is
lowered into the water or raised into the boat when stowed
and deployed. In the stowed position, place the motor so that
the slot in the Base Extrusion is positioned beyond the boat
Gunwale. For proper clearance, the entire slot must be visible
beyond the Gunwale. When the motor is deployed, there must
be a minimum required distance of 1½" between the Gunwale
and the bottom of the Steering Housing and Shaft.
4. Check for obstructions around the Top Plate and motor
when they are in all possible positions. The Top Plate moves
sideways approximately 1½" and also slides inboard 10". This
allows the motor to be moved for trailering, transport or a boat
cover without being removed. With this movement in mind,
make sure to check for additional obstructions such as lights
or a windshield.
NOTICE: Make sure that the motor will not encounter any
obstructions when sliding on and off the Bottom Plate.
When mounting, the exact placement of the motor and
MKA-57 may vary depending on the boat, boat deck, and
base extrusion that the Top Plate is mounted to.

a. Take the MKA-57 Quick Release Bracket, which
consists of the Top Plate (Assembly #A) and the
Bottom Plate (Assembly #B). The Top Plate will be
attached to the trolling motor, while the Bottom
Plate will be installed to the boat deck.
b. Note the Cam Lever attached to the Top Plate. The
Plates are held together when the Cam Lever is
locked and secured with a Pin. Remove the Pin from
the Cam Lever to release the Lever.
NOTICE: The Cam Lever will only open and close in one
direction, indicated by the arrow on the Cam Lever.
NOTICE: The Top Plate can be separated from the
Bottom Plate when a sideways gap is present between
the Plates.

and Plates can create a pinch point when closing the Cam
Lever. To avoid the pinch points, use an open palm against
the flat side of the Cam Lever to push the Cam Lever closed.

When handling each Spring, always keep the spring tension
under control. Abruptly releasing the Spring while there is still
tension could damage it and cause it to release unpredictably.

When maneuvering each Spring, carefully handle the Spring
to avoid bending it. Do not grab the body of the Spring to
avoid pinching between the spring coils. Always grab by the
hooked end.

each side of the mount.

b. Place the mount on an elevated, level surface such
as a workbench or the tailgate of a pickup. The
motor should be in the stowed position.
e. The center mounting hole on either side of the Base
Extrusion is blocked by a Spring. One end of each
Spring must be disconnected in order to access the
mounting holes.
f. To disconnect the Spring, take a Needle-nose Pliers
and carefully grab the hooked end on the top half of
the Spring. Unhook it from the hole in the Side Rail
by pulling up. Guide it towards the bottom half of the
Spring still attached to the Base Extrusion and gently
set it down. Do not disconnect the end of the Spring
that is wrapped around a bolt. Unhook both Springs.

NOTICE: To prevent seizing of the stainless steel
hardware, do not use high-speed installation tools.
g. Place the flat side of the Top Plate against the
bottom of the Base Extrusion. Align the Mounting
Holes in the Top Plate with the Mounting Holes in
the Base Extrusion that were exposed when the
Sideplates and Springs were removed. Make sure
that the Cam Lever points inboard.
h. Use six Hex Head Cap Screws (Item #28) to secure
the Top Plate to the Base Extrusion. The Screws
should insert from the top down, through the Base
Extrusion and into the Top Plate. Tighten to
120 in-lbs with a 9/16” Box End or Open End
Wrench. Make sure all hardware is secure.

i. With the Top Plate secured to the Base Extrusion,
reassemble the Springs that were disconnected. Use
a Needle-nose Pliers to grab the hooked end of the
loose Spring. Reconnect it by pulling it upwards and
hooking it in the hole on the Side Rail. The curved
end of the Spring should be reattached from the
top down. Make sure the Spring is not twisted when
reattaching it. Reattach the Spring on both the right
and left side of the Base Extrusion.
j. With both Springs reattached, replace the Right
Sideplate and Left Sideplate.
k. Replace the four Sideplate Screws using a #3 Phillips
Screwdriver. Two of these screws will be located on
each side of the mount. Hand tighten.
NOTICE: Use extra care to avoid pinching and damaging
the sensor wires that run alongside the Base Extrusion
when installing and tightening the mounting hardware.
CAUTION

a. Once the Top Plate is secured to the motor,

of a second person. To reassemble the MKA-57, set
the Bottom Plate on a flat surface next to the Top
Plate. The Padlock Slot on the Bottom Plate should
face the same direction as the Padlock Slot on the
Top Plate.
b. Set the Top Plate and motor onto the Bottom Plate,
leaving a 1½" sideways gap between the Plates. Slide
the Top Plate and motor to the right to close the gap
and realign the Plates. Secure the Plates together by
closing the Cam Lever and inserting the Pin.

Improper alignment of the Top Plate and Bottom Plate will allow
the motor to fall off, even if the Cam Lever is closed. Before
closing the Cam Lever, make sure that the rails of the Top Plate
and Bottom Plate seat into their respective channels. Properly
securing the motor will prevent injury.
CAUTION

all clearances verified, use an Awl or similar tool to
mark the side edges and rear of the Bottom Plate on
the bow of the boat.
e. Remove the Pin and open the Cam Lever to separate
the Top Plate and motor from the Bottom Plate. Set
aside the Top Plate and motor.

on either the Port or Starboard side of the boat
based on personal preference. Review the mounting
considerations at the beginning of this document.

5h. Mark the two holes furthest inboard, one on each
side of the Plate. The two mounting holes furthest
inboard must always be used.
i. There are four mounting holes in the middle of the
Plate, with two holes on each side. Mark one of these
two holes on each side of the Bottom Plate. The holes
do not need to be symmetrical, as long as there is at
least one mounting bolt on each side.
j. Look at the end of the Bottom Plate which is furthest
outboard. There are six mounting holes close
together, three on each side of the Plate. One of
these three holes must be used on each side. The
pattern does not need to be symmetrical. Any choice
or order of hole works, as long as there is at least one
mounting bolt used on each side.
k. With all six mounting holes marked, set the Bottom
Plate aside. Use a Drill with a 13/32" Drill Bit to drill
through the Boat Deck on the marked locations.

4f. Reposition the Bottom Plate onto the marks made
on the bow of the boat. Make sure the Padlock Slot is
facing inboard.
g. There are a variety of mounting hole options and
patterns available when installing the Bottom Plate,
to provide flexibility and account for variances in
boat deck shapes. All six mounting bolts must be
used when installing the Bottom Plate to the bow,
with three bolts used on each side of the Plate. If
the desired mounting location and mounting hole
pattern does not allow for all six mounting bolts, a
new mounting location should be selected.

l. Reposition the Bottom Plate over the drilled holes.
Use six 3/8-16 X 2" Flat Head Screws (Item #26),
six Rubber Washers if needed (Part #2321710), six
Backup Bars (Part #2371796), and six Nylock Nuts
(Item #27) to secure the Bottom Plate to the boat
deck. Apply anti-seize (Item #29) to all hardware.
The Screws should be installed from the top down,
passing through the Bottom Plate, Rubber Washers
(if used) and into the boat deck.
m. Place a Backup Bar and then a Nylock Nut at the
end of each Screw. While holding each Nylock Nut
with a 9/16" Box End or Open End Wrench, use a #4
Phillips Screwdriver to tighten each Screw. Make
sure all hardware is secure.

may help prevent seizing.

a. Slide the Top Plate and motor onto the Bottom Plate
that was mounted to the Boat Deck. Close the Cam
Lever to lock the Plates. Insert the Pin into the hole
in the Cam Lever to secure the Lever and ensure it
remains latched.

Completing the Installation
CAUTION
Before using or transporting the trolling motor, always check
that the Cam Lever is closed and secured with the Pin to ensure
that the Top Plate and Bottom Plate remain locked. Failure to
secure the Cam Lever may result in injury from a falling motor.
NOTICE: Lock your motor to
help prevent theft. The motor
can be locked in both the
Operating and Transporting
positions. The diameter of the

a. To slide the MKA-57 into the transporting position,
remove the Pin and open the Cam Lever.
b. While grasping the motor Shaft and Steering
Housing with both hands, slide the Top Plate and
motor approximately 1½ inches sideways Portside.
c. Slide the Top Plate and motor 10 inches inboard.
Make sure that the Top Plate remains seated in the
Bottom Plate.
d. Slide the Top Plate and motor sideways Starboard-
side to close the 1½ inch gap and realign the Plates.
Close the Cam Lever to lock the Plates together. Insert
the Pin into the Cam Lever to secure the bracket.
e. To return to the normal position, reverse these steps.

Transporting Position
The position of the MKA-57 can be adjusted by sliding the Top
Plate 10 inches inboard. This allows for safer transportation, a
better boat cover fit, or more clearance when launching the boat.

CAUTION
Before using or transporting the trolling motor, always check
that the Cam Lever is closed and secured with the Pin to ensure
that the Top Plate and Bottom Plate remain locked. Failure to
secure the Cam Lever may result in injury from a falling motor.
CAUTION
An incorrectly secured trolling motor may fall and cause
injury. Improper alignment of the Top Plate and Bottom Plate
will allow the motor to fall off, even if the Cam Lever is closed.
Before closing the Cam Lever, make sure that the rails of
the Top Plate and Bottom Plate seat into their respective
channels. Properly securing the motor will prevent injury.

FACTEURS DE MONTAGE
Le support à dégagement rapide MKA-57 est conçu pour être
verrouillé en deux positions différentes. La première position
aligne la plaque supérieure et la plaque inférieure qui les verrouille
en place avec le levier à came. Cette position est utilisée lorsque
le moteur est en marche. La deuxième position permet de glisser
de 10 po (25,4 cm) la plaque supérieure vers l’en-bord avant de la
verrouiller en place. Cette position est utilisée lors du transport.
Lorsque vous vérifiez le dégagement du moteur pour un
emplacement de montage, tenez compte de ce qui suit :

1. Le MKA-57 est compatible avec les moteurs de pêche à la
traîne QUEST à direction électrique et à montage sur étrave
d’eau douce et d’eau salée, notamment les Riptide Instinct
QUEST, Ulterra QUEST, Riptide Terrova QUEST et Terrova
QUEST. L’extrusion de la base des moteurs de pêche à la
traîne peut varier. Veuillez noter l’apparence de l’extrusion de
la base pour chaque moteur de pêche à la traîne.
2. Il est recommandé que le moteur soit monté aussi près que
possible de l’axe ou de la quille du bateau. L’installation de
la plaque inférieure nécessite l’utilisation des six boulons de
montage. Monter les boulons aussi éloignés l’un de l’autre
que possible créera la plus grande stabilité. Assurez-vous
que l’emplacement de montage est à plat et que la zone sous
l’emplacement de montage est dégagée pour percer les trous

Un moteur de pêche à la traîne mal fixé peut causer des
blessures. L’installation de la plaque inférieure nécessite
l’utilisation des six boulons de montage. Assurez-vous que
l’emplacement de montage est à plat et que la zone sous
l’emplacement de montage est dégagée pour percer les trous
et installer la quincaillerie. Évitez les blessures causées par
un moteur de pêche à la traîne mal fixé en suivant les
instructions d’installation.

AVIS : Assurez-vous que le moteur ne rencontrera aucune
obstruction lorsque vous faites glisser la plaque inférieure.
Lors du montage, l’emplacement précis du moteur et du
MKA-57 peut varier selon le bateau, le pont du bateau
et l’extrusion de la base sur laquelle est montée la
plaque supérieure.
3. Le moteur ne doit rencontrer aucune obstruction lorsqu’il est
abaissé dans l’eau ou monté dans le bateau pour arrimage ou
déploiement. En position arrimée, placez le moteur de sorte
que la fente de l’extrusion de la base soit positionnée au-delà
du plat-bord du bateau. Le dégagement est approprié lorsque
la totalité de la fente est visible au-delà du plat-bord. Lorsque
le moteur est déployé, il doit y avoir une distance minimale
requise de 1½ po (3,81 cm) entre le plat-bord et le fond du
boîtier de direction et de l’arbre.
4. Vérifiez s’il y a des obstructions autour de la plaque
supérieure et du moteur dans toutes les positions possibles.
La plaque supérieure se déplace vers le côté d’environ 1½ po
(3,81 cm) et se glisse aussi vers l’en-bord de 10 po
(25,4 cm). Cela permet de déplacer le moteur pour le
remorquer, le transporter ou de couvrir le bateau, sans être
retiré. Assurez-vous de vérifier s’il y a d’autres obstructions
avec ce mouvement à l’esprit, comme un pare-brise ou
des phares.
AVIS : La surface de montage pour la plaque inférieure doit
être complètement à plat. Des rondelles en caoutchouc
(pièce nº 2321710) peuvent être utilisées pour caler la
plaque inférieure afin qu’elle soit à plat avant le serrage
de la quincaillerie. La plaque supérieure ne s’ajustera pas
correctement si la plaque inférieure n’est pas installée
complètement à plat.
5. Cette installation nécessite l’utilisation de la quincaillerie
incluse avec votre moteur de pêche à la traîne. Six barres
d’appui (nº de pièce 2371796) et six rondelles en caoutchouc
(nº de pièce 2321710) du lot sous emballage de quincaillerie
du moteur (nº de pièce 2994948) sont requises.
6. Le moteur en position d’arrimage, assurez-vous qu’il y a
suffisamment d’espace pour l’arbre et la tête de contrôle et
qu’ils ne s’étendent pas au-delà du bateau.

a. Prenez le support à dégagement rapide MKA-57, qui
comprend la plaque supérieure (assemblage nº A)
et la plaque inférieure (assemblage nº B). La plaque
supérieure sera fixée au moteur de pêche à la traîne,
tandis que la plaque inférieure sera installée sur le
pont du bateau.
b. Remarquez le levier à came fixé à la plaque
supérieure. Les plaques sont maintenues ensemble
lorsque le levier à came est verrouillé et fixé avec
une goupille. Retirez la goupille du levier à came
pour libérer le levier.
AVIS : Le levier à came ne s’ouvre et ne se ferme que
dans une seule direction, indiquée par la flèche sur le
levier à came.
AVIS : La plaque supérieure peut être séparée de la
plaque inférieure lorsqu’elle lorsqu’il existe un écart
latéral entre les plaques.

l’extrémité de la plaque supérieure avec le
levier à came se monte à l’en-bord.
e. Le levier à came ouvert, faites glisser la plaque
supérieure côté bâbord de 1½ po (3,81 cm), puis
soulevez-la pour la séparer de la plaque inférieure.
Mettez la plaque inférieure de côté. La plaque
supérieure sera installée en premier.

Surveillez les points de pincement. L’espace entre le levier
à came et les plaques peut créer un point de pincement lors
de la fermeture du levier à came. Pour éviter les points de
pincement, utilisez une paume ouverte contre le côté plat du
levier à came pour le fermer.

ressort alors qu’il y a encore de la tension pourrait l’endommager
et faire en sorte que ses mouvements soient imprévisibles.

c. Retirez les quatre vis de la plaque latérale en
utilisant un tournevis cruciforme nº 3. Deux de ces
vis seront situées de chaque côté du support.
d. Retirez la plaque latérale droite et la plaque latérale
gauche pour exposer les six trous de montage sur
l’extrusion de la base.

batterie sont déconnectés, ou que le disjoncteur, le
cas échéant, est en position « arrêt ».

AVIS : Le moteur de pêche à la traîne pèse jusqu’à 90 lb
(40,8 kg). Minn Kota recommande d’obtenir l’aide d’une
deuxième personne pour l’installation.
AVERTISSEMENT
Assurez-vous que les câbles d’alimentation de la batterie
sont déconnectés, ou que le disjoncteur, le cas échéant, est
en position « arrêt ».
b. Placez le support sur une surface élevée, de niveau,
comme un établi ou le hayon d’une camionnette. Le
moteur devrait être en position arrimée.
e. Le trou de montage central de chaque côté de
l’extrusion de la base est bloqué par un ressort. Une
extrémité de chaque ressort doit être déconnectée
pour accéder aux trous de montage.
f. Pour déconnecter le ressort, prenez une pince à
bec pointu et saisissez soigneusement l’extrémité
à crochet sur la moitié supérieure du ressort.
Décrochez-la du trou du rail latéral en la tirant vers
le haut. Guidez-la vers la moitié inférieure du ressort
toujours attaché à l’extrusion de la base et déposez-
la doucement. Ne déconnectez pas l’extrémité
du ressort qui est enroulée autour d’un boulon.
Décrochez les deux ressorts.

AVIS : Pour prévenir le grippage de la quincaillerie en
acier inoxydable, n’utilisez pas d’outils haute vitesse
pour l’installation.
g. Placez le côté plat de la plaque supérieure contre
le fond de l’extrusion de la base. Alignez les trous
de montage dans la plaque supérieure aux trous
de montage dans l’extrusion de la base qui ont été
exposés lorsque les plaques latérales et les ressorts
ont été retirés. Assurez-vous que le levier à came
pointe vers l’intérieur.
h. Utilisez six vis à tête creuse hexagonale (article
nº 28) pour fixer la plaque supérieure à l’extrusion
de la base. Les vis doivent être insérées de haut en
bas, à travers l’extrusion de la base et dans la plaque
supérieure. Serrez à 120 po-lb (13,56 Nm) avec une
clé polygonale ou une clé à fourche de 9/16 po
(14,28 mm). Assurez-vous que toute la quincaillerie
est bien fixée.

i. La plaque supérieure fixée à l’extrusion de la base,
réassemblez les ressorts qui ont été déconnectés.
Utilisez une pince à bec pointu pour saisir l’extrémité
à crochet du ressort libre. Reconnectez-le en le
tirant vers le haut et en l’accrochant dans le trou
du rail latéral. L’extrémité courbée du ressort doit
être rattachée de haut en bas. Assurez-vous que
le ressort n’est pas tordu lors de sa réinstallation.
Rattachez le ressort sur les côtés droit et gauche de
l’extrusion de la base.
j. Les deux ressorts rattachés, replacez la plaque
latérale droite et la plaque latérale gauche.
k. Replacez les quatre vis de la plaque latérale en
utilisant un tournevis cruciforme nº 3. Deux de ces
vis seront situées de chaque côté du support. Serrez
à la main.
AVIS : Faites preuve de vigilance pour éviter de pincer ou
d’endommager les fils de capteur qui longent l’extrusion de
la base lors de l’installation et du serrage de la quincaillerie
de montage.
ATTENTION
Lorsque vous manipulez chaque ressort, gardez toujours la
