Quick Setup Guide

Hardware Set-up
1. Uncoil main power cord from metal fingers on boom arm of CMDR transport
stand. Unwinding of the power cord is required to avoid stress on the cord
connection to the power supply box.
2. Raise tube head to desired position by depressing lever on boom arm with
attention paid to the tension on the panel tether.
Note: Consult owner’s manual to rotate tube head for control panel to face laptop if
preferred.

2. Secure laptop computer to computer tray using the double-sided Velcro
provided.
3. Plug in the CAT 5 cable that is attached to the computer power cable into the
back of the laptop.
4. Plug the power adaptor cord in to the laptop.
5. Plug the power cord into grounded power source.
6. Turn on the computer.
7. Turn on the x-ray unit power switch located on top of the tube head.

Software Initiation
1. The acquisition software will likely load several moments after the computer is
powered up.
If the acquisition software fails to load, double click the MinXray DX-R icon on
the desktop to activate software.
2. Login with User Name and Password (these will be set during installation).

3. Input patient demographics by clicking the new button in the middle of screen.
Click insert patient after entering information. Minimum fields to be populated are
seen in red.
Note: Emergency Tab can be used when no patient demographics are supplied.
This information can be added when available.

4. Select the X-Ray tab in upper right of screen to begin x-ray plan.
5. Select anatomy to be imaged on adult or child model on left of screen by clicking on
the desired region to be imaged. Selected exams will populate the column on the
right side of the screen. Use edit tab to delete unwanted or duplicate exams .
Multiple exams can be selected before taking exposures.
Note: MinXray DXR Imaging software contains imaging tutorials including correct
positioning, sample digital radiographic images and video descriptions. To view
the tutorials, click on the position thumbnail of selected study.

6. Once all exams are planned, select exposure tab.
7. Select the position to be imaged, it will be highlighted when selected.

X-Ray Exposure
1. Remove imaging panel from storage compartment located on the frame of
the CMDR Stand.
2. Uncoil panel tether cord from storage hooks and extend to desired length.
Be aware of cable placement when positioning to avoid damage to panel or cable.
3. Position imaging panel with logo side up or facing patient.

4. Adjust focal spot of tube head 40 inches (100cm) from, and perpendicular to panel
using tape measure located on the bottom of collimator.
Note: For extra tube head height, see owner’s manual for frame extension.
5. Turn on collimator light using button on front of collimator and narrow the light
field to desired imaging field. Collimator light will automatically turn off after 25
seconds.
6. Set appropriate exposure values according to body part and exposure chart
located on the back of tube head using kV and mAs/seconds touchpad on front of
x-ray tubehead.
Note: The LED readout for mAs/seconds toggles between mAs and seconds as
indicated by the indicator light under each value. The display can be changed
between mAs and seconds by pressing the # button and the down arrow below
the kV display.

7. Using exposure switch, press and hold button until exposure light and auditable
indication is complete.
The exposure switch has a two-stage process. The first stage pre-heats the
filament of the x-ray tube. An x-ray exposure is made when the second stage
is fully depressed.
Press the exposure button half way down until the green ready light is
illuminated on the front of the tube head, then press button all the way down
until orange X-ray light illuminates for x-ray exposure. Hold the button down
until the audible tone stops, or the orange light goes out, then release button.
Premature release of the exposure button may result in an incomplete
exposure.

Post-exposure Image Processing
1. Manipulate image for proper display and measurements using QA tools under
image.
2. Selecting the Eyeball will bring up a new window with advanced tools and
annotations which will be covered in training.

3. Delete image (select trash can) for improper position, artifacts or motion and
retake.
4. Select check mark under image to accept image and move to next position.

5. Once all images are taken select finish study check mark.

Viewing Complete Studies
1. To review studies, select the Lists tab on upper right screen and select study to
be viewed.
2. Studies highlighted in green are complete, studies in red are incomplete or have
not been QA-ed or finished.
3. Select Create CD on bottom right of screen to burn images to CD.

Shut Down / Storage Procedures
1. Click on Operator key in upper left of screen.
2. Click on Exit tab in lower right to exit DX-R software.

3. Click on start and then select Turn Off Computer.
4. Turn off X-Ray unit using power switch located on top of x-ray tube.
5. Place DR panel in storage compartment and carefully wrap panel cord around
storage hooks.
6. Close and latch panel storage compartment door. Be sure that the panel cable
is correctly placed and is not pinched in storage compartment door.
7. Lower x-ray tube by depressing gas spring actuator on boom arm of CMDR
stand.
8. Lower unit until tube head gently rests against rubber pad on frame.
9. Wrap power cord around storage hooks on boom arm of CMDR stand.
10. If laptop is to be removed, unplug power adaptor and panel connector before
removing from holder tray.
11. Fold down holder tray and secure in down position with latch.
