Inspiration
In an ever-changing market place with pressures from modular systems and logic block
solutions the Micro PLC market is getting tougher and tougher.
For many years the F and FX family have been expanding the boundaries, pushing new
technology, fine-tuning and rounding the FX Family portfolio.
The FX3UC has an immense power to size ratio, the super micro has the same CPU as the
successful FX3U. Due to its physical size it can be used in applications where traditional
PLC’s cannot go.
New markets for a new style PLC.
Typical applications
Limited supply systems such as marine or battery back up and UPS systems can benefit from
the energy efficiency of the FX3UC.
Transistor outputs are the key to the FX3UC. When used in applications that require a
terminal rail, huge cost savings can be realised.

Wiring made easy:
The connections for the FX3UC inputs and
transistor outputs can be wired with ribbon cable
connectors. Remote I/O interface modules with
digital inputs, removable 6 A relay outputs or 2 A
triac outputs or simple 1to1 connections with
optional system cabling sets are available for the
ribbon cable connectors.

Failure depends on quantity of used inputs and output points. Generally, failure is
detected when voltage drops below 20.4 VDC, stopping operation to prevent
malfunction.

Earthing / Grounding
Use a cable at least 0.2mm 2 (AWG24) to ground equipment. Ground resistance
must be less than 100 W (class D). Note that the ground cable must not be
connected to the same ground as the power circuits. Grounding is recommended

Q) What are the main reasons for introducing FX3UC?
A) The FX3UC is being introduced to extend the FX family even further, to challenge new
markets and find new customers with a new style of PLC
Q) Will the FX3UC replace the FX3U?
A) No, the FX3UC is not a replacement but an expansion to the FX family and has other
advantages for different scenarios.
Q) What is the operation processing time for the FX3UC?
A) The FX3UC has high speed operation, for basic instructions: 0.065µs/instruction and for
application instructions: 1.52 to several 100µs/instruction.
Q) What is the memory capacity of the FX3UC?
A) The FX3UC series PLC contains 64k steps of built-in RAM memory.
Q) What I/O size is FX3UC available in?
A) FX3UC is available with 16/32/64/96 I/O CPU units. The expansion I/O modules
are also all 16 inputs or 16 outputs for simplicity.
Q) What is the maximum number of special function blocks that can be added to an
FX3UC?
A) For the FX3UC a maximum of 8 special function modules can be incorporated.
Q) What wiring options are available with the FX3UC I/O expansion blocks?
A) The wiring options available to the FX3UC I/O expansion are as follows:
•16 point IDC connector type input block,
•16 point relay output screw or optional spring terminal block,
•16 point transistor IDC connector type block.
Q) Do you need any sort of conversion kit when connecting special function blocks
from the FX3U, FX2N or the FX0N?
A) Yes, to use any of the special function modules from the FX3U, FX2N or the FX0N you will
need the converter module FX2NC-CNV-IF or the FX3UC-1PS-5V, which provides additional
1A for the 5V bus.
Q) Are the FX2NC-CNV-IF or FX3UC-1PS-5V counted as special function block?
A) The FX2NC-CNV-IF or the FX3UC-1PS-5V are converter modules for use with FX2N,
FX3U or FX0N special function blocks, they don’t take up an allocated position of a special
function block
Q) What is the physical size of the FX3UC?
A) The FX3UC is less than 30% of the comparative FX3U size and similar to the FX2NC size.
Q) Does the FX3UC series PLC have an integrated RTC (Real Time Clock) function?
A) Yes, the integrated RTC (Real Time Clock) function is standard in the FX3UC series PLC.
Q) How does the FX3UC cope with loss of power?
A) In any case of sudden power loss the FX3UC will store the program using the backup
battery, which has a battery life of three years. Upon regeneration of power you will notice
that the counters and timers, etc will be reset back to zero and not as they were left. Also it is
to be noted that any outputs, memory coils, data registers, etc will also reset and start up at
zero. However there is a data register range in GX Developer that can be set and will be
saved by the battery backup.

A) The following table provides power supply information for the FX3UC.
