The heatermust be installed bya qualifiedservice
person according to this installation instruction .
The installationmustconformwithlocalcodes or,inthe
absence of localcodes, the Nationalfuel Gas Code,
ANSIZ223.1/NFPA 54.
The installationmustconformwithlocalcodes or,inthe
absence of localcodes, the current CAN 1-B149
INSTALLATION CODE.
For mobilehousing and recreationalvehicleinstallation
the currentStandard CSAZ 240.4 GAS EQUIPPED
RECREATIONAL VEHICLES AND MOBILEHOUSING.
A manufacturedhome(mobilehome)installationmust
conformwith the ManufacturedHomeConstruction
and Safety Standard, Title 24 CFR,Part3280, or, when
such a standard is not applicable, the Standard for
ManufacturedHomeinstallations,ANSI A 225.1/NFPA

Due to hightemperatures, the appliance should be
located outof traffic and awayfromfurniture and

HEATER INSTALLATION
Step 1: Fill Out OwnerRegistrationCard
Removeyourowner registration card from the plastic
envelopecontaining the owner's guide. It should be
filled outand mailed as soon as possible.
Step 2: Check for Parts

Step 3: Choose a Location for YourHeater
In choosing a location for yourheater, the following
guidelinesmust be considered:
•Theheater maybe installed on combustibleflooring on
the metaltrayprovided.
•The areaaround the heatershould be free of obstacles
that mightinterferewith the freeflow of air.Allow the
clearances shown in Figure 4.
•The heatermust notbe installed ina fireplace.
•AnAC wall outletmust be withinreach ofthe heater's
power cord.Extensioncordsmust notbe used.
•Theareaoutsidewhere the fluepipewillemergeshould
be free of foliage,fuelstoragetanks and flammable
objects. Air shouldcirculate freely inthe area.Allow the
clearances shown in Figure 7 onthe next page.
• Refer to Figure 4to provideadequateaccessibilityclearances
for servicing.
With the side andtop clearances as shown in Fig. 5a,
the Monitorshall notbe placed so that its frontsurface
is inside ofthe enclosure.

Step 4: Drill a PilotHole
NOTE: The following directions apply to "standard"
installation. For other methods, follow instructions
included with accessory kits.
For walls up to 8V2 inches (22.0cm) thick, use a
standard flue pipe; for walls up to 12V2 inches
(31.5cm) thick, use a medium adjustable flue
pipe kit; and for walls up to 20 inches (50.5cm)
thick, use a long adjustable flue pipe kit.

Use the template to position the hole tobe drilled. The
"bluedot"indicates the exactcenter ofthe hole.Using
an electricdrill anda longdrill bit, make a pilot hole
through the wall(Figure 6).Be sure the holeextends
through the outsidewall.
/!\ CAUTION: The opening onthe inside wall should
be approximately V* inch higher than on the outside
wall so the flue pipe will slope downward when
installed. This will allow condensation to drain
outdoors.

FLUE PIPECLEARANCES
• Vent terminalmust be located at least 3 feet above any forced air inletlocatedwithin 10 feet.
•The ventterminal ofa directventappliancewith an input of 50,000 Btuper hour or lessshall be located at least 9
inchesfrom any openingthroughwhichfluegasescouldenter a building, and such an appliancewith an input over
50,000 Btuper hourshallrequire a 12-inch ventterminationclearance. The bottom ofthe ventterminal andtheair
intake shall be located at least 12 inchesabovegrade.
• Fluepipeinstallationsshouldprovide for venting toan unconfinedspacethroughwhichthere isa free flow of outdoor

Step 5:Cutthe Hole forthe Fluepipe
Using a hole saw attachment andan electricdrill, cuta 21/2
inchdiameterholethrough the inner and outerwalls
(Figure 8).
After the hole is cut, usea straightedge and level to
be sure the insideopening is approximately
1A
inch
higher than the outsideopening.
NOTE: After cutting the inside wall, remove the
insulation. Make sure there are no obstructions
inside the wall, such as electrical wiring, water
pipes, hot air ducts,

Step 8: Level the cabinet
Place tray onthe floorwhere you plan to locateyour
heater.
Position the heater onthe tray sothe legs ofthe cabinet
fit into the circularindentations inthe tray.
In order forthe heater to operateproperly, it must be
positioned ona levelsurface.Ensureproperleveling by
adjustingeach legandby using a carpenterslevel to
check bothside to side, and front to backlevelcondition.

Step 9: Install the JointPipe
At the rear ofthe heater, slide the large end opening of
the jointpipeinto the exhaustportoutlet ofthe heater.
Be sure the jointpipe is fullyseated.Slide the cloth
insulationcoverover the jointpipe(Figure 17).
The o-ringsthatseal the jointpipe maybedryand
tight. A little soapywater will ease installation.

Step 10: Connect the Heater tothe Flue Pipe
Move the heatertoward the wall,guiding the jointpipe
into the centerport ofthe fluepipe(Figure 18).
Be sure the jointpipe is completelyinsertedinto the
fluepipe.

Step 11: Install theAir Damper
If installation is standard(that isno extensionkits are
required), place theair damper marked with a
LP'NAT "over the air intakeflange on the fluepipe
(Figure19).
Place the hosebandaround theendoftheair supply
hose.Push theair supplyhoseonto theair intake
flange and secure the hosewith the hose band.

Step 12: Install the FluePipeHolder
Place the ring of flue pipeholderaround the metal
cappedexhaustport. The otherside ofthe holderhooks
ina slotdirectlyabove the jointpipe atthe rear ofthe
heater (See Figure 20).
Step 14: Recheck the Heater
Before proceeding,checkagain tobe surethere areno
flammablematerialsclose tothe heater.Re-checkthat
the heater is level.
Examine the flue pipe tobe sure connections are tight.

Step 13: Secure the Heater
Insert the narrowends ofthe2 bodyclampsintosockets
onthe rear ofthe heater.
Loosen the2#8x 5/16adjustmentscrews and extend
the clampsuntiltheytouch the wall.Fasten the clamps
the wallwith 2#8x 3/4 tappingscrews.
Fasten the adjustment screws.

SECTION E
GAS CONNECTION
1. Thegas supply lineshall be gas-tight,sized andso
installed asto provide a supply ofgas sufficient to
meet the maximumdemand ofthe heaterwithoutloss
of pressure.
2.Thegas lineshould be installedwithenoughflexibility
to allow the heater tobe movedfrom the wall for
maintenance. Check local codes foruseof flex hose.
3.A shut off valveshould de installed inthe upstream of
the gas line to permitservicing.
4. Flexiblepipe andany applianceconnectorvalveused
for gas pipingshall be typesapproved by nationally
recognizedagencies.
5. Any compoundused onthe threadedjoint ofthegas
pipingshall bea typewhichresists the action of
liquefiedpetroleumgas.
6. Supplied gas pressuremust be within the limitsshown
inthe specifications.
7. After completion ofgas connections, all joints
includingthose atthe heatermust be checked for
gas-tightness by means of leakdetectorsolution,
soap and water, oran equivalentnonflammable
solution, as applicable.
/!\CAUTION: Sincesometestsolutions,includingsoap
and water, may causecorrosion or stresscracking,
the piping shall be rinsedwithwateraftertesting,
unless ithas beendeterminedthat the leaktest
solution is noncorrosive.
8.The appliance andits appliancemain gas valvemust
be disconnected from thegas supplypipingsystem
during any pressuretesting of thatsystem at test
pressures in excess of1/2 psi(3.5kPa).
The appliancemust be isolates from thegas piping
system by closing its equipment shutoff valveduring
any pressuretesting ofthegas supplypiping system
at testpressureequal toor less than 1/2 Psi(3.5kPa).

At time of installationinstallermustsupply a 1/8

NOTE: The fan will continue to operate until the appliance is cool, do not turn the appliance off by unplugging it from
the wall.
Unplug the appliance only after unit is cooled down.

STARTING INSTRUCTIONS
•Stepl: Plug inthe Heater
Plug intheAC cord, and route it awayfrom the area ofthe
flue pipe. Itis recommendedthat no otherapplianceshare
the sameoutlet.
NOTE: When the unit is operated for the first time or the
gas piping is replaced, the unit may not come ON
the first few times since air is in the piping. In this
case, repeat the starting procedures.
Step 2:Set "ON"Button
Deprese the ON/OFFbutton tothe "ON"position(Figure
22). The "Operation"light will illuminate,indicating the
heater ison.
Burn lampwilllight and ignitionwill start after
approximately 20 seconds. In90 seconds the circulation
fan willstart to operate, and warm air will be felt coming
through the cabinetgrill.

Pressing either the "Up" or "Down" button willincrease or
decrease theset temperature by2 degree increments.
Once desiredtemperature is displayed,press set button
to lockintomemory.
The heaterwillautomaticallychange its heatoutputuntil
the desired room temperature is reached.While it cycles,
you may hear the circulation fan changespeed,
depending onthe output required to maintain the desired
roomtemperature.
*The heater will shut itself off temporarily when the desired room temperature has been reached and restart automatically when
necessary to maintain room temperature.
NOTE: The heater may display room temperature 4 degrees above set temperature, depending on heater load
conditions, before shutting itself off.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ECONOMYPLUSMODE
To engage the economyplusmode,simplypressdown the buttonlabeled"EconomyPlus", to disengagepressagain.
NOTE: Operationswitch must be "ON" and in manual mode.
This featureminimizes the "ON" and "OFF"cycling ofthe unit by allowing itto overshoot theset temperature by8
degrees instead ofthe normal 4 degrees.
The advantages of thisfeature areto increase the overallefficiency ofthe unit by:
1. Reducingheatlossduring the prepurge and postpurgecycles.
2. Reducinginefficientcombustionassociatedwithstart upand shutdown.
3. Prolongingcomponentlife by decreasingexpansion and contraction of internalparts.
NOTE: This feature could be compared to driving an automobile in stop and go traffic (regular mode) versus highway
driving with cruise control engaged (Economy Plus mode).
