1.1Introduction
Thisproductis an easytouse,do ityourself, 4/8-channel securitysystembundle.
Included in the bundle isaDVRand fourinfrared(IR) capableday/nightvideo cameras.
The kitcomeswitheverything you needtoinstallandoperatethe securitysystem
(optional harddrivefor DVR not included). The DVR usesthelatest SOC technology
and employsthe H.264 videocompression standard,withsupport forCIF,Half-D1,and
D1resolutions.Withareal-timenetworkcapabilityyou can remotelymonitoryour
securitysystemusing yoursmartphone.

Chapter2 Quick Installation
2.1 HDD Installation
Harddiskinstallationshould be performedbyatechnician toavoid damagetothe
equipmentand harddisk.TheDVR mustbe powered off beforeinstallation.This
equipmentsupportsaharddisk withthe SATAharddiskinterface.ASeagatebrand
harddiskisrecommended.
The installationprocedureisasfollows:
A. Open theequipment andtheharddisk baycanbe seen.
B. Connect the harddiskdataand power cables.
C. Put theharddisk intothebayand aligntheharddisk’sscrewholeswiththeframe.
D. Fixthe harddisktotheframewiththescrewsand closethe DVR.
Note:the newlyinstalled harddisk mustbe formatted beforeit canbe used to
storevideo recordings.
2.2Boot
Connect theDC12V/3Apoweradapter tothepower cordsocket onthebackpaneland
pressthe powerbuttononthefrontpanel.The DVR willpoweron,the powerindicator
"POWER"will beon, and themonitor will displaythe 4/8-channel monitoring images.If
anon-formatted harddiskexistsintheDVR, harddiskformattinginformationwill be
displayed. If boot-recordmodeis on, orboottimeiswithin thesettime, the systemwill
automaticstartthe recordingfunctionandthe "REC"indicatorwill be ontoindicatethe
systemisworking normally.
Note:
1.If aharddiskisnotinstalled when DVR mainframeis poweron,orthenewly
installed harddiskisnotyetformatted,the red "H"logo will be shownin the video
previewimage.
2.The newlyinstalled hard diskmust notbe useduntilformatted in the DVR asfollows:
Main Menu→HDD→HDD Format.The systemwill automaticallyrestart when the
formattingiscompleted.
2.3SystemLogin
The defaultusercodeforlogging intotheDVR mainmenu is 000000 withoutany
password.Theseshould bechangedbettertoprovidebettersecurityforyourDVR
system.Tochangethe code and password,go toBasic Settings→UserPassword.You
cansetthe passwordsfor bothordinaryusersandtheadministrator.The administrator
hasalltheoperatingprivileges,while ordinaryusersonlyhavelimitedprivileges,being
onlyable tomonitorthe videoandperformvideosearchand playbackofpreviously
maderecordings.Afterchanging thepassword,anysubsequentattemptstoenterthe
DVR main menuwill producea"Userlogin"interface,asshownbelow:

Equipment code: You can enterthe equipmentcode "000000" (displayed on rightside)
intothe "Device ID"inputbox.Whenusing themouse,the defaultcode will be
automaticallyinputintotheboxforyou.Whenoperating multipleDVRsin the same
location,you should changethe equipmentcodessothatthe remotecontrol ofone
device doesnot activatethe other devices.
2.4ShortcutMenu
Clicktherightmousebuttonanywhereon the interfacescreen toseealistofquick
operationsinthepop-upmenu.Left-clickamenuoption toselectitorleft click
anywhereoutside the menutoclear itfromthe screen.
2.4.1Mainmenu
Click"Main Menu" toenterthemainmenu interface(pleasesee 3.1).
2.4.2Lock
Whenthe passwordfunction isenabled (pleasesee 2.3)you can lockthe systemmenu.
Todo this,rightclickanywhereon screen togetthe pop-up menu thenselectthe
"KEYLOCK"menuoption.Untilthelockisdisabled accesstothemainmenuwill
requireapassword.
2.4.3Channel switching
An8-channelDVR can select8-channel,front4-channel,andback4-channel display
modes.A4-channel DVR can choose4-channel and 1-channel modes.
2.4.4Videosearch

2.4.5Start Sequence
Start the video channelautomatic switching function. (Right-click toexit)

StartsapresetPTZ"cruise"function (rightclick todisable cruisemode). Notethatthis

2.4.7PTZControl
Rightclick themousein the main interfaceandselect"PTZcontrol" fromthe pop-up
menu, producing the following interface:
The PTZspeed (fastorslow)can be controlled in this interface,aswell aszoom,focus,
and aperturecontrol.
Cruise setting:
Step 1: Select thePTZchannel.
Step 2: Setthepausetime(s).
Step 3:Adjust thearrowkeystothe desired cameraposition.
Step 4: Click"SETPOINT". Repeatsteps2-4toset additional locations.
Step 5: Click"APPLY"tosavethe settings.
Step 6:Exittothelivescreen,rightclicktogetthepop-up menu,andselect
"STARTCRUISE".
Notes:
1. If you needtosetup morepoints, repeatsteps2-5.
2.Toviewthe pointhasbeenset, inthe currentpointenterthe number,select
"JUMP".

If "timing record"isenabled(please see Chapter3)and thepreset recording time isnot

boot-recordmode isenabled,thisfunctionisnotavailable.
2.4.9ZOOM
Inthe single-channelfull-screenmodeyou can zoomin onasection byleft-clicking and
dragging the mousearoundthearea youwant tosee in closer detail.

Chapter3 AdvancedSettings
3.1MainMenu
The mainmenuhasthe"PLAYBACK","RECORD","HDD","BASIC","ADVANCED"
and "Exit"options,asshownbelow:
Note: The settingson all the submenusbelowthe Main Menuwill notbe activeuntil
"Enter"isselected.Anysettingswill belost if themenu is exited withoutfirst saving the
settings.Whenthemousecursor isplaced overamenu item, a"tool tip"indicatingthe
function of that itemisdisplayed.

3.2Recording Mode
Enter theRecording Mode screen byselecting "RECORD"fromtheMain Menu:
CHANNEL: used toselectifthe video recording functionis enabled forthe
correspondingrecording channel.
REC MODE: select either startup recording or timer recording.
When powered up: startsrecordingwhen theDVR ispowered on(onlyifthe
correspondingchannel is enabled inthe"Channel" option).
BYTIME: performsrecordingasscheduled. When"timingrecording"isselectedthe
"RecordTimeConfiguration"buttonwill appearon theright.Movethecursorhere
and press "Enter"toenterthe Record TimeConfigurationscreen,asshownbelow:
Channel: You maychooseeither "ALL" or asingle channel.
Timeconfiguration: Firstselectfromthe 3modes:AlarmRecording,General
Recording,and NoRecordingasyourdesired recordingmode foracertain
latticeand configurespecific recording timelattices(eachlatticerepresents1
hour). Eachlatticecan beconfiguredintodifferentrecordingmodesbymarking
themin differentcolors,suchasred,green,and the background color,which
representalarmrecording,general recording,and no recording within eachhour,
respectively.
FILELENGTH: Left-clickorpress "Enter"toselectthe File lengthfromthe 4options:
15min, 30min, 45minand 60min.
AUDIO: enable or disable audiorecording.
RESOLUTION: availablein D1(704*576), HD1(704*288)and CIF(352*288)
QUALITY: availableinthe3levelsofhigh,normal,andlow,corresponding tothe 3
datastreamstandardsofhigh,normal and lowbit rates.
FRAME RATE: adjust the framerateforthe recording.

3.3VideoSearch
Enterthe VideoSearchscreenfromMain Menu→VideoSearch, asshownbelow.This
unitsupports3video searchmodes:
A. Timing playback
Timeinput: Firstselect thecorresponding channel andthen adjust the dateand time
tobesearched.Left-clickorpress"Enter"andthedirection keysorenterdigits
directlyforyear,month, date,hour, andminute adjustment, and then click"Playback"
toplaybacktherecordofthisperiodoftime.For4-channelDVRs,the4channels
can be played backsimultaneously.
B. Playback based on recordstate
Entertheyear,monthand datetobe searchedinthe"TimeInput"boxand click
"Search" toviewthe recordstateofthisdate,asshownbelow:
Month: displaystherecordinginformation ofeverydayin the currentmonth.A
green blockindicatesnormalrecording,ared blockindicatesalarmrecording, and
the background color indicatesno recording. Clickadateonthisbar tosearchthe
recordinformation ofeveryhourofthatday.The searchresultswill be visualized in
the "Day"bar below.
Date: displays therecordinghoursofthecurrentday.Eachlatticerepresents1hr
and one recordingsegmentis0.5hr.The presentationofthe recordstateisthe
sameasabove.Clicka0.5hrsegmentofadaydirectlytoenterthe record
playbackof this segment.
C. Playback based on filelist
Entertheyear,monthand datetobe searchedinthe"TimeInput"boxand click
"Search"toviewthe recordstateofthisdate.Clickacertaindayonthe"Month" bar
then "FILELIST", andthe"FILE LIST"screen will pop up,asshownbelow:
Channelselection: Thereare5options:1, 2, 3,4and all(9optionsfor 8-channel
DVR). Afterselection and confirmationthe channel file tobe displayed can be
selectedinthe following list.
Recordtype: Thereare3options:All,Normal,andAlarm.Afterselection and
confirmation,the searchedmessage will bedisplayed automaticallyasalist, as
shownbelow:

Notes:
1.The detailed"FILELIST"displays previouslysavedrecordings.Eachentry
includeswhichchanneltherecording wasmadefrom,thedataand timeofthe
recording, the physicalfile size oftherecording, andthetype ofrecording (normal
or alarm).
2.Highlightthe desired recordingfile in the listusing theup and downcursorkeys.
Whenthedesiredrecording ishighlighted,press"Enter"tobegin playback of that
recording.
3.If "RecordTimeSuperimposition" hasalreadybeenenabledon the "BasicSetup"
screen,theplaybackscreenwill displaythe dateand timeofthe recording.
Otherwise, , therewill benoclock displayontheplaybackscreen.
4.Duringplaybackofarecording,press"Slow"forslowplay,press"FastForward"
or"FastBackward" forfastforwardorbackwardplay,or press "Pause/Frame"for
pauseorframe-by-frameplayback.Press"Exit"toexitfromthe playback screen
and returntothemenu of thepreviouslevel.
3.4Backup
Beforeanyrecordingscanbebackedup,pleaseattachaUSB harddriveorflashdrive
tothe DVR. Next, enterthe "FILELIST"(see 3.3VideoSearch)screen tolocateand
selectthe desired recordingfile.Movethe cursorupanddownon the FILELIST screen
toselectarecording file.Movethecursortothe "BAK"checkboxand press enterto
selectthisrecordingfileforbackup.A"√"will appearin thebox,indicatingthatthis
recording filehasbeen selected.Nowmovethecursortothe optionboxon theright
and click"BACKUP"tobeginthe backup operation.Aprogress message dialog will be
displayed,asshownbelow:

1.Whentheavailable spaceof the backupdeviceis lessthan the sizeofthe

3.5HardDiskManagement
Enter theHarddiskManagement screenfromMain Menu→HDD, asshownbelow:
STATUS:The DVR will automaticallycheck fortheproperoperationofan installedhard
diskdrive. If theharddiskneedsformatting, "UNFORMATTED"will be displayed in the
harddisk statusdisplayand you canclick"HDD Format "toformat the harddisk. If the
systemdetectsanavailableharddisk, theharddisk statuswill be "ONLINE".
ALL/FREE: Displaysthe totalstorage capacityandcurrentremainingstoragecapacity
of the harddisk.
TIMELEFT:Displaysthe amountofrecording timeavailableon the harddisk,based
on thecurrentlyselected video "resolution"and"quality".
FORMAT: Click the check boxand a"√"will appear,indicatingthatthisHDD hasbeen
selectedforasubsequent format operation.
OVERWRITE: When settoENABLE, the DVR will automaticallyoverwritetheearliest
recordingwhen itneedsmorespacefornewrecordings.When settoDISABLE,the
DVR will stop makinganynewrecordingsoncetheharddiskis full.
HDD FORMAT:Beforeitcanbeused tostorerecordings,the harddisk mustbe
formatted.AftercheckingtheFORMATbox(see above), click the "HDD FORMAT"
optiontobegin the formattingprocess.Aconfirmation dialogwill bedisplayed.Click
"ENTER"tobeginformattingor"CANCEL"toaborttheoperation.Oncethenewhard
diskhasbeen formatted, theDVR will automaticallyreboot.
USB FORMAT: Formatsaharddiskorflashdriveattached tothe system'sUSB 2.0
port.
DEFAULT: Restoresthe factorydefaultvalues.
3.6BasicSetup

3.6.1Systemlanguage
Movethe cursortothe"LANGUAGE"option(theicon isenlargedandhighlighted to
indicateselection)and press"Enter"toenterthe language selection screen, asshown
below:
Selectthedesiredlanguage fromthelist, thenclickAPPLYtosavethesetting.The
language selectionwill takeeffect after the DVR isrebooted.
3.6.2Timesetup
Movethe cursortothe"DATE/TIME"option (the iconissurroundedbyayellowframe

DEVICE ID: EIf morethanoneDVR is being operated in thesamearea,eachshould
haveauniqueDeviceID. Enter digitsdirectlytosetthe DVR ID number.
PASSWORD:Press"Enter"and select"ENABLE"or"DISABLE"tosetwhethera
passwordisneededforaccessornot. Ifthisoptionisenabled,the userhastoenter
his/herpasswordtologin successfully.If itis disabled,the main menuofthe system
can be loggedindirectlywithout the needforapassword.
UserPassword: Thisoption isoperated withkeysor the mouse.Enterdigitsdirectlyto
set the userpassword.
Adminpassword:Thisoption is operated withkeysor themouse. Enter digitsdirectly
toset theadministratorpassword.
Notes:
1)Thisunithasno initial password.When you’resetting up passwords,itis
recommendedthatthetwopasswordsaresetup atthe sametime.If you forget

2)Onlythe locking,channelchangeover,videosearch,logsearch,backup,PTZ

Movethe cursorto the "CAMERAS"option (the icon is surrounded byayellowframe to
indicateselection) andpress"Enter"toenter the setupscreen, asshownbelow:
NAME: Movethe cursortotheinputboxofthisoption and press"Enter"toenterthe
inputscreen. Numerical, English, and Chinesepinyin inputmethodsaresupported.
POSITION: Movethe cursortothisoption and press "Enter"tochange between name

positions. Thereare5 setup options:top left, bottomleft,topright, bottomright, and off.
COLOR: Movethe cursor to"Setup" ofthe correspondingchannelandpress"Enter"to

Press"Enter"or dragthecursordirectlytosetthepicturecolor,including the 4options
ofchromaticity,brightness,contrastandsaturation.Press"Enter"toexitandsavethe
set parameters.
PREVIEW:
On:The pictureof thischannelcan be seenin the Video Previewscreen.
Off: The Video Previewscreenof thischannel hasbeen shielded, but thereisno effect
on therecording of thischannel.
PREVIEWTIME:When"On" the systemdateand timearedisplayed rightabovethe
VideoPreviewscreen.
RECORD TIME:When "On" aclockis displayed duringplaybackofthe current
recording file.
CHANNELSEQ: Setsthechannel sequencetime.

Movethe cursortothe "VIDEO/AUDIO"option (the iconissurrounded byayellow
frametoindicateselection)and press"Enter"toenterthe setup screen,asshown

MonitorResolution:Left-clickorpress "Enter"tosetthe VGAoutputresolutionto
1280x1024, 1024x768, or800x600.
CAMERASYSTEM:Left-click orpress "Enter"toselectoneofthe twocameravideo
systems: PALor NTSC.
VOLUMESETUP: Movethe cursor to"VOLUMESETUP",left-clickorpress "Enter"to
entertheVolumeSetup screen,and press"Left","Right",ordrag the cursorwiththe
mousetoadjustthevolumelevel.
Note:The systemwill restart when theVGAresolutionorthe cameraresolutionis
