Yamaha YXZ Winch Mount
Thank you for purchasing our VIPER winch mount. You now own a premium custom
winch mount which allows you to use your winch with your UTV / SxS. Please note the
following instructions and heed all warnings.
•Please use common sense when operating your UTV / SxS

warning labels, before operating your UTV / SxS

1. Remove the front center plastics.
Note: It may be easier to remove the entire front hood, but it is not necessary if you are just doing the
winch install.

2. Put the MA11922-1 Main Mount Plate through the opening and down into place. Rotate the mount 90
degrees to fit it through the opening.

3. Use the 3/8”x1” Serrated Flange Bolts and Nuts to secure the bottom of the mount to the frame, and use the
5/16”x1” Serrated Flange Bolts and Nuts to secure the top of the mount to the frame. Verify that the mount is
sitting flush to the frame and tighten down all hardware.

4. Install the fairlead that came with your winch to the MA11922-3 Fairlead Plate.

5. Place the remaining 5/16” bolts and the MA11922-2 Spacers into the MA11922-3 Fairlead Mount Plate as
shown in Figure 1 and Figure 6.

6. Lift the Fairlead Plate and hardware up into place. The four bolts will align with four holes on the front of the
frame.
Note: If possible, have a helper for this section to help hold the plate and hardware in place while
it is being secured. If a helper is unavailable, use clamps or tape to hold the bracket and
hardware into place while you work.

7. Pull one of the top 5/16”x2.5” bolts back so that the end of the bolt is flush with the back of the frame. Slide
the nut into place and screw the top bolt into the nut. Repeat this process on the other side. Do not tighten
down at this time. You will need some wiggle room to get the bottom bolts in.

8. Remove one of the bottom 5/16”x1.25” bolts. Slide the nut up into place inside the frame until it is aligned
with the hole. Place the bolt back in to the hole and screw it into the nut. Repeat this process on the other
side. As shown in Figure 9.

Note: for most people it will be very difficult to fit your fingers into the frame. Tape the nut to a
tool or a bolt or a small piece of scrap wood and use the tool to slide it up into place. As shown in
Figure 10.

9. Verify that the Fairlead Mount Plate is square with your machine and tighten down at this time.

10. Guide your winch gear end first behind the driver side front shocks and into the open cavity above the winch
mount.
Note: If you have a one piece line stopper and it doesn’t fit over the eyelet on the end of your
winch cable you will want to remove your cable before this step, put the line stopper on your
cable and slide it to the end of the cable, and then thread the cable through the fairlead, through
the center of the winch mount and then out to the winch and reinstall it before putting the winch
into place.

11. You may need to reroute some wires and cables on your machine to allow the winch to sit flush on your
mount plate.
12. Use the hardware supplied with your winch to attach the winch to the MA11922-1 Main Mount Plate and route
your cable through the center hole of the mount plate and out the fairlead if you haven’t already.
13. Follow the instructions for wiring up your winch included in your winch manual.
14. Most applications will mount the contactor in the center console near the battery. There is also space behind
the winch and in front of the radiator. It may be necessary to remove the center console to route the winch
wires from the mount to the battery.
15. Recheck and tighten down all hardware after the first couple times driving your machine and before every
winching season as the frame may have flexed causing the hardware to loosen.
