Themainboardprovides2slotsfor240-pin DDRIIDIMM,whichsupportsthe
memorysizeupto2GB.SinceDDRII modulesarenotinterchangeablewithDDR1and
theDDRIIstandardisnotbackwardcompatible,youshouldalwaysinstallDDRII
memorymodulein theDDRIIslot(DIMM0~DIMM1).Otherwise,you arenotabletoboot
up yoursystemand yourmainboardmightbe damaged.

Memory
IntroductiontoDDRII SDRAM
DDRIIisanewtechnologyof memorymodule,anditsspeed isthe toplimit of
currentDDR1technology.DDRII usesa1.8Vsupplyforcoreand I/Ovoltage,com-
paredto2.5VforDDR1,andrequires28%lesspowerthanDDR1chips.DDRIItruly
isthe futureof memory,butwillrequiresomechangesasthetechnologyisnot
backwardlycompatibleand onlymotherboardsspecificallydesigned forDDRIImemory
willbeabletosupportthesechips.
DDRIIincorporatesnewfeaturesatthe chiplevel that giveitbettersignal
integrity,therebyenabling higherclockspeeds.
DDRII moduleshave240 pins,versus184 pinsonaDDR1module,and the
lengthofDDRIImodule is5.25”.DDRIImoduleshavesmallerandtighterspaced pins.
The heightofDDRIImodulesvaries,buttheywill typicallybelessthan1.3”in height.
DIMM ModuleCombination
InstallatleastoneDIMM module ontheslots. EachDIMMslot supportsup toa
maximumsizeof1GB.Userscan install eithersingle-ordouble-sidedmodulesto
meettheirownneeds.Pleasenotethat eachDIMMcanworkrespectivelyfor
single-channelDDRII, buttherearesomeruleswhileusing dual-channel
DDRII. Usersmayinstall memorymodulesof differenttypeand densityondifferent-
channel DDR DIMMs.However,the samesize,typeand densitymemorymodules
arenecessarywhileusing dual-channelDDR, orinstabilitymayhappen. Pleaserefer
tothefollowingtablefordetailed dual-channelDDR.Othercombinationnotlisted
belowwill functionassingle-channel DDR.
