to recognize banknotes of all denominations of the same currency. When banknotes of other currencies are
recognized, they will be sent to the reject pocket. The machine can only recognize the currencies displayed in the
currency selection interface.

5.3.3. Non-Volatile Memory for Currency Mode
The currency mode setting is non-volatile. For example, if you set multi-currency counting mode before you power
down the IMC08, next time the IMC08 will be in multi-currency counting mode after power on. It is a convenience
that you will not need to reselect the currency every time you power on the IMC08.
5.4. Counting Mode Selection
After the machine is turned on, the flag & currency graphic appears in the upper left corner, indicating that the
machine is in the current currency counting mode.
The default mode is MDC mode. By pressing the MODE key of the control panel, three counting modes can be
toggled in an MDC-CNT-SDC-SDCV sequence.
Note: Only MDC mode is effective in the Multi-currency mode.
Example: Put a handful of banknotes (including USD, EUR, GBP) into the IMC08 hopper to count. The interface of
the IMC08 displays as the following figure at the end of counting.
Figure 5-10 Multi-currency Counting Mode
5.3.2. MULT (Multi-Currency Mode)
Multi-Currency Mix Counting: Banknotes of multiple currencies are mixed together and put into the IMC08
to count. The IMC08 can recognize any of the first 3 currencies displayed on the currency selection interface.

5.4.1. MDC Mode
As shown in the following figure, the IMC08 is in MDC mode. In this mode, the IMC08 will count the banknotes of all
denominations of the selected currency, and the total amount and number of banknotes are displayed on the screen.
Any suspicious notes or other currency notes will be sent to the reject pocket. In this mode, the IMC08 has 2 counting
speed (800/1000 pcs/min) options.
5.4.2. SDC Mode
As shown in the following figure, the IMC08 is in SDC mode. This mode allows the user to count and sort the
banknotes by one denomination which is automatically determined by the first note scanned in a stack. This can
be useful to be sure that there is no other denomination banknote in a large strap of one denomination. The first
banknote in the hopper determines the counting and sorting denomination. Any time a note passes through the
IMC08 and does not conform to the denomination determined by the first note, the IMC08 will reject this not into
Figure 5-12 MDC Mode
the reject pocket. The total amount and number of banknotes will be displayed on the screen. In this mode,
the IMC08 has 2 counting speed (800/1000/min) options.
5.4.3. CNT Mode
As shown in the following figure, the IMC08 is in CNT mode. This mode does not limit the currency, and only
counts the number of banknotes. It only works with the double note detection function and no other counterfeit
detection function. In this mode, the IMC08 has 4 counting speed (800/1000/1200/1500 pcs/min) options.
Figure 5-13 SDC Mode

Version 1.04 IMC08 Banknote Counter & Sorter User Manual Page 22 of 47 Version 1.04 IMC08 Banknote Counter & Sorter User Manual Page 23 of 47
5.4.4. SDCV Mode
As shown below, the IMC08 is in SDCV mode. This mode allows the user to count and sort notes by one version
which is automatically determined by the first note scanned in a stack. This can be useful to be sure that there are
not notes of other versions in a large strap of one version. The first banknote in the hopper determines the counting
and sorting version. Any time a note passes through the IMC08 and does not conform to the version determined
by the first note, the machine will reject this note into the reject pocket. The total amount and number of banknotes
will be displayed on the screen. In this mode, the IMC08 has 2 counting speed (800/1000/min) options.
5.5. Counting Function Options
5.5.1. Automatic Banknote Counting
Press the AUTO key to enable or disable the automatic banknote counting in the main interface.
After turning the IMC08 on it will default to the automatic counting mode, an “AUTO” will be displayed on the main
screen. In this mode the IMC08 start counting automatically.

functions.

5.5.3. Add Function
This function is toggled on via the ADD key. It is used to cumulatively add the counting results of multiple counts to
the total. When the add function is activated, an “ADD” indicator will be displayed on the main screen. Press the
ADD key again to disable the add function.
5.5.2. Serial Number Reading
The SN key is used to enable or disable the function that reads the banknote’s Serial Number.
After turning the IMC08 on, the default is to turn on this function. An “SN” will be displayed on the main
screen. The SN reading function records the unique serial numbers of the counted banknotes. This function
is available for the following currencies as of this writing: USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, MXN.
5.5.5. Orient Function
This function is available by pressing the ORI key in SDC mode until “ORI” is displayed on the main screen.
This function allows the user to count and sort the notes by one of 4 orientations. The fist note in the hopper
determines the counting orientation. Any time a note passes through the machine and does not conform to the
orientation determined by the first note, the machine will reject this note into the reject pocket. Total amount and
number of the notes will be displayed on the home screen.
5.5.6. Batch Setting
Press the BATCH key to select the batch number in the banknote counting interface, the screen display is shown in
Figure 5-20. By pressing the BATCH key of the control panel, the batch number will be toggled in a 100-50-0
sequence.
5.5.4. Face Function
This function is available by pressing the FACE key in SDC mode until “FACE” is displayed on the main screen.
It allows the user to sort the banknotes based on whether they are loaded into the hopper face up or face down.
This first note in the hopper determines the sorting and counting orientation. If the first note through the machine
is face up, all notes in the hopper that are face up will end up in the stacker, and the other notes will end up in the
reject pocket. Total number and value will be displayed on the main screen.
To operate with the manual counting mode, by pressing the AUTO key, the “AUTO” indicator will be off.
In this mode, the IMC08 stops counting automatically, and the RESTART key must be pressed to start each count.

The batch number will be increased by 10 by pressing the ← key, or decreased by 10 by pressing the key → until it
becomes 0. And it will be increased by 1 by pressing the ↑ key, or decreased by pressing the ↓ key.
Press the ESC key to return to the main interface to confirm the batch quantity.
Figure 5-20 Batch Setting Interface
Figure 5-21 Batch Setting Interface
Note: the stacker maximum capacity is 200 bills, so the batch number should be less or equal to 200.
Batch function is used to select a batch quantity for a specific counting process. The IMC08 counts a preset
number of notes and then stops counting when the batch number has been reached, even if the notes remain
in the hopper. When the banknotes are removed from the stacker, the IMC08 will continue count up to the
preset batch quantity to create another batch.

5.7. Check Detail of Counting
In the MDC, SDC or SDCV mode, press the REC key upon the completion of counting to enter the interface
shown in the following figure to check the details of counting.

5.6. Counting Speed Setting
There are four counting speed options: 1500, 1200, 1000 and 800 (Note: 1500 and 1200 are the only optional
in CNT mode). The default speed is 1000 in three modes. If a specific setting is needed, different counting
speed can be switched by pressing the SPEED key in any counting mode.

6.1.1. Read Sensor Values
6.1.2. CIS Calibration
If you have problems with banknote detection errors, please try to calibrate the CIS. The CIS calibration
steps are shown in Figure 5-5. For more detail instruction, we recommend you to review the reference manual
or watch the following video: https://bit.ly/2C17fom
The contact image sensor (CIS) of the machine has been calibrated properly from the factory. With regular,
use, the sensor’s sensitivity decreases which can lead to image errors. To resolve the issue, the IMC08 can
be re-calibrated using the white calibration paper that came with the machine.
