About the Manikin
The Life/form®Patient Education
Infant Tracheostomy Care Manikin
is ideal for teaching caregivers the
skills they will need to perform at
home. Students can practice suction-
ing techniques, proper cuff inflation,
dressing changes, and other tech-
niques. Cleansing and maintenance
of the external tracheal site can
be performed, just as on an actual
patient. The infant manikin can be
used to teach caregivers basic tra-
cheostomy care skills.

General Information About the
Manikin
The manikin may be used in basic
methods of tracheostomy care.
Individual methods and procedures
may differ; therefore, this booklet does
not propose to outline a particular
procedure to be followed. Rather, it
is recommended that a procedural
manual and instructor’s directions be
followed. This will eliminate confusion
and best serve the individual instruc-
tor and curriculum.

Care of the Manikin
Normal surface soil can be removed
with a mild soap and lukewarm water.
Use Nasco Cleaner (LF09919U) to
remove stubborn stains. Simply apply
the Nasco Cleaner to the soiled area
and wipe with a clean, soft paper towel.
Cautions
1. Donotcleansethestomaarea
with Betadine®or any other similar,
colored disinfectant. NEVER place
the trainer on any kind of printed
paper or plastic. These materials, as
well as ball-point pens, will transfer
 indeliblestains.Donotuseany
cosmetics on the manikin.
2. Exercise the same care with this
manikin as would be used with an
actual patient. Excessive pressure
and abuse will damage and shorten
the unit’s life.
