NetComm HS960 Hotspot – Firmware Upgrade Procedure
The following process outlines how to perform a HS960 firmware upgrade.
1. Connect a Windows XP based computer via Ethernet directly to one of the
LAN ports on the back of the HS960.
2. Double check that the TCP/IP protocol settings for the network card on the
Windows XP computer are set to ‘Obtain an IP address automatically’ i.e
DHCP client.
3. If you haven’t already power on both the computer and HS960.
4. Disable any software based firewalling, should it be running on the computer.
5. Access the HS960s web-based interface by launching the Internet Explorer
web-browser and opening the address http://10.59.1.1
6. When prompted type in “admin”’ / “admin”’ respectively for the username /
password followed by selecting the ‘Login’ button.
7. From the HS960s web based interface select ‘System Tools’ -> ‘Firmware’
then the ‘Browse’ button.
8. Locate and select the ‘HS960V1.01.01.bin’ firmware upgrade file then
select the ‘Apply’ button to initiate the firmware upgrade.

9. The following message should appear shortly after…….
. As the message states, please don’t power down the HS960 or interrupt
the firmware upgrade process in any way!!!
10. After approximately 3 minutes you should receive the following message.
11. Wait approximately 30 – 60 seconds then reload the http://10.59.1.1
webpage.
12. Once the page has been reloaded verify the ‘Version’ is displayed as
‘1.01.01’.
13. Once the version change has been verified complete the procedure by
resetting the HS960 to factory defaults. This is done by holding the recessed
reset button (back of unit) for 10 seconds whilst the unit is powered.
14. Please wait at least 1-2 minutes after releasing the reset button for the unit
to finish the reset process.
