Connect the VPN Firewall
Ifyouusecablemodemservice,youmustsetuptheVPNrewallusing
thesamecomputerthatyouusedwhenyourstsetupyourInternet
connection.IfyouuseDSLservice,youmightneedyourDSLservicelogin
nameandpassword.
¾To connect the VPN firewall:
1. Poweroyourcomputer.
2. Poweroyourmodemandunplugthepowersupply.
3. LocatetheEthernetcableconnectingthecomputerandthemodem.
4. DisconnectthisEthernetcablefromthecomputeronly.
5. ConnecttheEthernetcablecomingfromthemodemtotheWANport
ontheVPNrewall.
6. ConnecttheEthernetcablethatcamewithyourVPNrewallintoaLAN
portonthefrontoftherewall.
7. ConnecttheotherendoftheEthernetcablecomingfromtheVPN
rewallLANporttotheLANportonyourcomputer.
YourVPNrewallisconnectedandyouarenowreadytorestartyour
network.
WARNING: Failuretorestartyournetworkinthecorrectsequencemight
preventyoufromconnectingtotheInternet.
8. Connectyourmodem’spowersupplytoyourmodemandpoweriton.
Waittwominutesforthemodemtoboot.
9. ConnecttheVPNrewall’spowersupply.
Waitoneminutefortherewalltoboot.
10.Turnonyourcomputer.
Note: ForDSLcustomers,ifISP-providedsowarelogsyouintotheInternet,do
notrunthatsoware.YoumightneedtogotothebrowserToolsmenu,Internet
Options,Connectionstab,anddisableautodialing.
Verify Your Connection
ChecktheVPNrewallLEDstoverifythattheVPNrewallisconnected.
• Power.ThePowerLEDlightssolidgreen.Ifitdoesnotlightsolidgreen,
checkthatthepoweradapterisconnectedtoanACoutlet.
• Test.TheTestLEDlightswhentherewallisrstturnedonandthengoes
o.Ifaertwominutesitisstilllit,seetheTroubleshootingTipsinthis
guide.
• WAN.TheWANportLEDlights.Ifitdoesnot,makesurethattheEthernet
cableisattachedtotheVPNrewallWANportandthemodem.Also,make
surethatthemodemispoweredon.
• LAN.TherearetwoLEDsforeachLANport.ThegreenLEDontheupper
leindicatesnetworkactivity.TherightLEDindicatescommunication
speed.Itisgreenfor1000Mbps,amberfor100Mbps,andofor10
Mbps.IftheLANportLEDisnotlit,checkthattheEthernetcablefromthe
computertotherewallisattachedatbothends,andthatthecomputeris
on.

1. Openabrowserandenterhttps://192.168.1.1intotheaddressbar.

Troubleshooting Tips
Followingaresometipsforcorrectingcommonproblemsyoumight
encounter:
• Make sure that the Ethernet cables are securely plugged in.
TheWANLink/ACTlightontherewallislitiftheEthernetcabletothe
rewallfromeachmodemispluggedinsecurelyandthemodemand
rewallareturnedon.Foreachpoweredoncomputerconnectedtothe
rewallwithasecurelypluggedinEthernetcable,thecorresponding
rewallLANportLEDislit.
• Make sure that the network settings of the computer are
correct.
ComputersmustbeconguredtoobtainIPandDNSaddresses
automaticallyviaDHCP.Forinformationaboutconguringyour
computertoobtainanIPandDNSaddressviaDHCP,seethereference
manual.
• For cable modem connections, use MAC spoofing.
SomecablemodemISPsrequirethatyouusetheMACaddressofthe
computerregisteredontheaccount.

MACorUsethisMACaddress.
3. EntertheMACaddressofthecomputerthatisregisteredwithyourISP.
TheroutercapturesandusestheMACaddressofthecomputerthat
youidentied.
4. ClicktheApplybutton.

5. Restartthenetworkinthecorrectsequence.
