Bei Nahbesprechung von Mikrophonen ist häufig eine
unangenehme Übersteuerung zu hören, das so genann-
te Popgeräusch. Dies wird vor allem durch Plosivlaute
wie „p“, „t“ und „k“ hervorgerufen. Bei diesen können
mühelos Spitzenpegel von 135 dB SPL bei normaler
Stimmlage erzeugt werden.
Moderne Mikrophone können diese Pegel ohne Über-
steuerung übertragen, jedoch kann durch die kurzzei-
tige große Membranauslenkung ein „Blubbern“ hörbar
oder der folgende Mikrophonverstärker übersteuert
werden.
Der Popschirm PS 87 bietet einen wirksamen Schutz
vor den genannten Popgeräuschen. Er besteht aus
einem gebogenen Metallrahmen mit zwei Metallgazen
und wird mittels einer Halterung am Mikrophon U 87
befestigt.
Zur bestmöglichen Wirksamkeit sollte ein minimaler
Abstand von 5 cm zwischen Mund und Popschirm ein-
gehalten werden.
Montage: Vor der Befestigung des Mikrophons in der
EA ist der Popschutz von unten bis auf Anschlag auf
das Mikrophon zu schieben. Er muss dann mittig vor
dem Korb – auf der Mikrophonvorderseite, die mit
einem Logo gekennzeichnet ist – ausgerichtet werden.
When microphones are used for close speech, an un-
pleasant form of overloading is frequently heard, the
so-called pop noise. This is caused by plosives such as
„p“, „t“ and „k“, which can quite easily generate peak
levels of 135 dB SPL at normal voice pitch.
Even though modern microphones can handle such
levels without electrical overloading, the momentary
large excursion of the membrane may result in an au-
dible “gurgle”.
The PS 87 pop screen provides effective protection
from these „pop“ noises. It consists of a curved metal
frame with two layers of metal gauze, and is attached
by a holder to the U 87 microphone.
For maximum efficiency, a minimum distance of 5 cm
should be kept between mouth and pop shield, and
pop shield and microphone.
Mounting: Before attaching the microphone to the
elastic suspension, slide the holder with the pop
screen onto the microphone from below, until it hits
the stop. The pop screen must then be aligned so that
it is at the front of the microphone (indicated by the
logo), and is centered in front of the grille.
