EKS 500
Installation
Varmvattenberedaren skall installeras stående. De fyra
fötterna är justerbara i höjdled.
EKS 500 kan utrustas med nedanstående element. Vid
installation bör tillses att tillräckligt utrymme för demon-
tering av element finnes framför kopplingsrummet, se
nedanstående tabell.
Montera de bipackade täckbrickorna innan rörinstalla-
tionen.
Montera även den medlevererade isoleringspluggen i
hålet efter lyftöglan.

Allmänt
Varmvattenberedaren består av en stålbehållare med
invändigt korrosionsskydd av koppar.
Beredaren är konstruerad och tillverkad för ett maximalt
avsäkringstryck av 9 bar.
Högsta tillåtna temperatur är 95 °C.
Isoleringen på EKS 500 består av polyuretan med en
tjocklek på 50 mm. Isoleringen är demonterbar för att
förenkla förflyttning av beredaren genom till exempel
dörröppningar.
Ytterbeklädnaden består av grå plast.
Varmvattenberedaren är försedd med lyftögla.
EKS 500 kan utrustas med upp till två elpatroner.
Anslutningsdiametern är G50 och maximal elpatron-
längd är 650 mm.
Bipackningssatsen innehåller täckbrickor och avtapp-
ningsventil.
Demontering av isolering
Isoleringen på EKS 500 är demonterbar, för att under-
lätta hantering i trånga utrymmen (beredarens diameter
utan isolering är 670 mm).
1. Lossa samtliga skruvar längs skarvskenorna.
2. Demontera lyftöglan i toppen genom att skruva av
den motsols.
3. Lyft av topplocket.
4. Drag av isoleringsmantelhalvorna rakt ut.
Återmontering sker i omvänd ordning. Om skruvarna
har svårt för att fästa i de gamla hålen kan skarvskenan
vändas upp och ner, vilket resulterar i nya hål i isole-
ringsmantelhalvorna.

Rörinstallation
Varmvattenberedaren skall förses med avtappnings-,
avstängnings-, back-, blandnings-, säkerhets- och va-
cuumventil enligt gällande normer samt med termome-
ter och tryckmätare.
Den bipackade avtappningsventilen monteras på av-
tappningsanslutningen (7). Demontera klämring och
klämringsmutter från avtappningsventilen och montera
ventilen med hjälp av befintlig klämring, klämsringsmut-
ter och stödhylsa. Ersätt klämring med plugg på den
öppna sidan av avtappningsventilen.
Beredaren skall förses med blandningsventil, som be-
gränsar temperaturen på utgående varmvatten till 60 °C.
Om denna ventil utelämnas måste risken för skållnings-
olyckor förebyggas på annat sätt.
Säkerhetsventilen skall vara på högst 9 bar (0,9 MPa)
och dess spillrör skall mynna fritt över avlopp. Spillrörets
dimension skall vara samma som säkerhetsventilens.
Spillröret skall ha en fallande dragning i hela sin längd
samt vara frostfritt anordnat. Mynningen på spillröret
skall vara synlig.
Elanslutning
Varmvattenberedaren har två elpatronanslutningar för
en maximal effekt av 2 x 9 kW. Separat matning från
gruppcentral drages till varje elpatron.
Varje elpatron kompletteras med kopplingsbox typ K11
(2-polig termostat, 3-polig temperaturbegränsare).
Förändringar eller omkopplingar får ej ske!
Installation och skötsel
Påfyllning
Påfyllning av varmvattenberedaren sker genom att först
öppna en varmvattenkran i systemet och därefter öppna
avstängningsventilen på inkommande kallvatten. Denna
ventil skall sedan under drift vara helt öppen. Först när
det endast kommer vatten ur varmvattenkranen (till en
början kommer luftblandat vatten ut ur kranen) kan
varmvattenkranen stängas och varmvattenberedaren är
fylld.
Tillsyn och skötsel
Säkerhetsventilen skall kontrolleras regelbundet (ca 4
gånger per år) för att förhindra igensättning. Kontrollen
sker genom att öppna säkerhetsventilen manuellt, vat-
ten skall då strömma genom spillröret. Skulle ej så ske är
säkerhetsventilen defekt och måste bytas.
Säkerhetsventilen släpper ibland ut lite vatten efter en
varmvattentappning. Detta utsläpp orsakas av att det
kalla vattnet som tas in i beredaren expanderar, med
tryckökning som följd, varvid säkerhetsventilen öppnar.
Tömning
1. Bryt strömmen till beredaren.
2. Stäng inkommande kallvatten.
3. Öppna avtappningsanslutningen, eller avtappnings-
ventilen om en sådan är monterad.
Vid tömning måste luft tillföras beredaren genom att en
varmvattenanslutning (2) eller en varmvattenkran lossas.
För att varmvattenberedaren skall bli helt tömd, fordras
att en slang alternativt ett rör vars utlopp mynnar under
beredarens lägsta nivå monteras på avtappningsanslut-
ningen eller avtappningsventilen. Vid montering där
frostrisk finns skall varmvattenberedaren tömmas då den
ej är i drift. Frysning medför att beredaren sprängs.
Åtgärder vid driftstörning
Om vattnet ej blir varmt, kontrollera att säkringarna i
elcentralen är hela. Om ingen säkring är trasig kan or-
saken vara att temperaturbegränsaren löst ut på grund
av något fel på varmvattenberedaren. När felet avhjälpts
kan temperaturbegränsaren återställas. Detta måste ut-
föras under överinseende av behörig elinstallatör.
Service
Vid behov av service, kontakta huvudentreprenören
varvid installationsdatum och tillverkningsnummer (95)
ovillkorligen måste uppges.
Endast av NIBE AB i Markaryd levererade reservdelar får
användas.
Varmvattenberedaren skall vara helt fylld
med vatten innan den får anslutas på
elsidan.

EKS 500
Installation
The water heater must be installed in an upright posi-
tion. The four feet are height-adjustable.
The EKS 500 can be equipped with the following ele-
ments. When installing the water heater, ensure that
there is enough room for removing the element in front
of the connection area, see following table.
Fit the supplied cover discs before pipe installation.
Also fit the supplied insulation plug in the hole left by
the lifting eye.

General
The water heater consists of a steel vessel, with a cop-
per lining to protect against corrosion.
The heater is designed and manufactured for a maxi-
mum cut-off pressure of 9 bar.
Maximum permitted temperature is 95°C.
The EKS 500 is insulated with 50 mm thick poly-
urethane. The insulation can be removed to make it
easier for the heater to pass through doorways, for
example.
The outer shell is grey plastic.
The water heater is equipped with a lifting eye.
The EKS 500 can be equipped with up to two immer-
sion heaters. The connection diameter is G50 and the
maximum immersion heater length is 650 mm.
The enclosed kit contains cover discs and a drain valve.
Removing the insulation
The insulation on EKS 500 can be removed, to facilitate
work in confined spaces (the heater’s diameter without
insulation is 670 mm).
1. Remove all screws along the joining plates.
2. Remove the lifting eye at the top by unscrewing it
anticlockwise.
3. Lift off the top cover.
4. Pull the insulated jacket halves straight off.
Carry out assembly in reverse order. If the screws are
difficult to fit in the old holes, the joining plate can be
turned upside down, which produces new holes in the
insulated jacket halves.

Pipe installation
The water heater must be supplied with a drain valve,
shut-off valve, non-return valve, mixing valve, safety
valve, and a vacuum valve as per applicable standards,
as well as with a thermometer and pressure gauge.
Install the supplied drain valve on the drain connection
(7). Remove the compression ring and compression ring
nut from the drain valve and install the valve using the
existing compression ring, compression ring nut, and
support bush. Replace the compression ring with a plug
on the open side of the drain valve.
The heater must be supplied with a mixing valve, which
limits the temperature of outgoing hot water to 60°C.
If this valve is not fitted, some other measure must be
taken to prevent the risk of scalding.
The safety valve must be set to maximum 9 bar
(0.9 MPa) and its overflow pipe must run unobstructed
over the drain. The overflow pipe must be the same size
as the safety valve. The overflow pipe must be routed
downwards along its entire length and be frost proof.
The outlet of the overflow pipe must be visible.
Electrical connections
The water heater has two immersion heater connections
for a maximum output of 2 x 9 kW. Separate supply
from group central is routed to each immersion heater.
Each immersion heater is supplemented with junction
box type K11 (2-pole thermostat, 3-pole temperature
limiter).
Do not modify or reconnect!
Installation and maintenance
Filling
The water heater is filled by first opening a hot water
tap in the system and then opening the shut-off valve
for incoming cold water. This valve should then be fully
open during operation. The hot water tap can only be
shut off when the water heater is filled, which is when
only water comes out of the hot water tap (initially an
air-water mixture comes out of the tap).
Maintenance
The safety valve must be inspected regularly, about 4
times a year, to prevent blockages. To inspect the valve,
open the safety valve manually and check that water
flows through the overflow pipe. If this does not hap-
pen, the safety valve is defective and must be changed.
The safety valve sometimes releases a little water after
hot water has been used. This discharge is caused by
the expansion of cold water entering the water heater,
resulting in a pressure increase, whereby the safety valve
opens.
Emptying
1. Turn off the power to the heater.
2. Shut off the incoming cold water.
3. Open the drain connection, or the drain valve if fit-
ted.
During emptying air must be let into the heater by
loosening a hot water connection (2) or opening a hot
water tap. To ensure complete emptying of the water
heater, a hose or pipe with outlets flowing out below
the lowest level of the heater must be attached to the
drain connection or drain valve. When installed in loca-
tions exposed to the risk of frost, the water heater must
be emptied whenever it is not in operation. Freezing will
result in the heater bursting.
Dealing with malfunctions
If the water fails to heat up, check the fuses in the dis-
tribution box. If none of the fuses have blown, the prob-
lem may be that the temperature limiter has tripped as
a result of a fault in the water heater. Once the fault has
been remedied, the temperature limiter can be reset.
This must be done under the supervision of a qualified
electrician.
Service
When servicing is required, contact the main contrac-
tor; you will always need to provide the manufacturing
number (95) and installation date.
Only spare parts supplied by NIBE AB in Markaryd may
be used.
The water heater must be completely filled
with water before it is connected on the
electrical side.
