Safety valve (not supplied)
The accumulator tank’s/water heater’s safety valve
sometimes releases a little water after hot water usage.
This is because the cold water, which enters the accumu-
lator tank/water heater, expands when heated causing
the pressure to rise and the safety valve to open.
The function of the safety valves must be regularly
checked, about four times a year, to prevent clogging.
To inspect the valve, open the safety valve manually and
check that water flows through the overflow pipe. If this
does not happen then the safety valve is defective and
must be replaced.
Emptying
For suspended installations
PCU-R 80, 100, 120 must be equipped with a drain valve.
1. Close the incoming flow to the accumulator
tank/water heater (connection XL3).
2. Open the drain valve (connection XL4).
During draining, air must be let into the accumulator
tank/water heater by loosening a hot water connection
(XL4) or opening a hot water tap.
To ensure that the accumulator tank/water heater drains
completely, a hose or a pipe with an outlet below the
lowest level of the water heater must be attached to the
drain connection or drain valve.
When installed where there is a risk of frost, the accumu-
lator tank/water heater must be emptied whenever it is
not in operation. Freezing could result in the accumulator
tank/water heater bursting.
For upright installations
For upright installations, drain the container through
the siphon (using hose) in the cold water connection
(XL3).
The charge coil is emptied through the siphon (with
hose) in the cold water connection (XL9).
Service
For service, contact the installer. Serial number (PF3) (14
digits) and installation date should always be stated.
Only replacement parts supplied by NIBE may be used.
For the Installer
Design
PCU-R 80, 100, 120 has a container and a charge coil
made of stainless steel.
The outer casing is made from painted sheet metal with
sides of durable plastic.
The container is designed for a maximum cut-off pressure
of 9 bar (0,9 MPa), which is the equivalent to a design
pressure in compliance with current standards of 10 bar
(1,0 MPa). Maximum pressure in the charge coil is 16 bar
(1,6 MPa). The maximum temperature is 90 °C
The container is insulated with EPS (environmentally
friendly cellular plastic), which provides good thermal
insulation.
Transport
PCU-R 80, 100, 120 should be transported and stored in
the dry.
Assembly
The accumulator tank/water heater may be installed
suspended from a wall or upright.
The area where PCU-R 80, 100, 120 is located must be
equipped with floor drainage.
