The EN-ELl 5 is arechargeable battery
for
use exclusively in Nikon digital cam-
eras with manuals that list the EN-EL 15
as acompatible power source. It can be
charged repeatedly using an MH-25 bat-
tery charger. When using this product,
be sure to read not only this manual but
also the documentation provided with
the camera and charger.
Safety precautions
To ensure proper operation, read this
manual thoroughly before using this
product. After reading,
be sure to keep
it where it will be
read by all those who
use the product.
&WARNINGS
•The EN-EL 15 is arechargeable battery
for
use only with Nikon digital cam-
eras.
•When charging the EN-EL 15, use only
the MH-25 battery charger.
•Do
not expose the battery to heat or
flame.
•Do
not attempt to disassemble or
modify the battery.
•Do
not short the battery terminals
with ametal object such
as aneck-
lace or keys.
Failure to follow these instructions
could
cause the battery to leak corro-
sive liquids, overheat, explode, orcause
otherdamage
to the battery.
•
EN-EL 15 rechargeable batteries are for
use with compatible devices only.
•
See the documentation provided with
the charger for information on charg-
ing the product,
as well as for further
cautions and warnings that must
be
observed when charging.
•Charge the battery before using
the
product for the first time, or before us-
ing the product follOWing an extended
period
of disuse.
•Do
not use the battery at ambient tem-
peratures below
O°C (32°F) or above
40°C (104°F). Failure to observe this
precaution could damage the battery
or impair
its performance.
•Charge indoors at ambient tempera-
tures between 5and 35°C
(41 to 95 OF).
• The battery will not charge if its tem-
perature
is below OOC (32"F) or above
60°C (140°F).

• 00 not attempt to charge afully-
charged battery. Failure to observe this
precaution will result in reduced battery
performance.
•
You may notice that the battery is hot
directly after use or charging; this does
not indicate amalfunction.
•
In cold conditions, the battery may re-
quire frequent charging even when ful-
ly charged. It is recommended that you
keep afully-charged spare battery in a
warm place and exchange
as necessary
when taking pictures in cold weather.
• A marked drop in the time afully-
charged batteryretains its charge, when
used at room temperature, indicates
that the battery needs
to be replaced.
Purchase anew EN-EL 15 battery.
•Ifthe battery will
not be used for some
time, insert it in the camera and run it
flat before removing it for storage. The
battery should
be stored in acoolloca-
tion
with an ambient temperature of 15
to 25°( (59 to 77 oF). 00 not store the
battery in
hot or extremely coldloca-
tions.
•While the battery
is in storage, charge it
at least once every
six months and then
use the camera to run it flat again be-
fore storing it in acool location.
•Always remove the battery from the
camera or charger when it
is not being
used. Left installed, minute amounts of
current flow even when unused, and
the battery may become excessively
drained and no longer function.
•After removing the battery from the
camera or charger, replace the terminal
cover and store in acool place.
•
Keep the battery terminals clean.
•Should you notice smoke or
an unusual
smell coming from the charger, unplug
it, taking care to avoid burns. Take the
charger
to aNikon representative for in-
spection.
•
Used batteries are avaluable resource.
Please recycle used batteries in accor-
dance with local regulations.
