SLR Camera Attachment FSA-L1. This product enables
you to use the Aperture-Priority Auto exposure mode
of
Nikon's digital SLR cameras such as the D300 or D80.
Enjoy the world
of super-telephoto digital SLR shooting.
SAFETY AND OPERATION
PRECAUTIONS
& Warning
· Never look at the sun directly through the camera's
viewfinder after having set the fieldscope, camera
attachment and camera as this may lead
to loss of
your eyesight.
&cautions
· Avoid rain, water splashes, sand and mud.
· When the unit is exposed
to sudden temperature
changes, water condensation may occur on lens
surfaces.
· Do not use alcohol for cleaning the main body.
· When carrying the camera attachment, store it
in the
soft case and close the cover completely.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Lenses
· When removing dust on the lens surface, use a soft oil-
free brush.
· When removing stains
or smudges like fingerprints
from the lens surface, wipe the lenses very gently with
a soft clean cotton cloth or quality oil-free lens tissue.
· Use a small quantity
of pure alcohol (not denatured) to
wipe stubborn smudges. Do not use velvet cloth or
ordinary tissue, as it may scratch the lens surface.
Once the cloth has been used for cleaning the body, it
should not be used again for the lens surface.
Main body
· Blow off dust on the body surface with a blower, and
then wipe the
body gently with a soft and clean cloth.
Do not use benzine, thinner or other organic agents
because they may cause discoloration or rubber
deterioration.
Storage
· Water condensation or mold may occur on the lens
surface because
of high humidity. Therefore, store the
attachment in a cool and dry place. After use on a rainy
day or at night, thoroughly dry it at room temperature,
and then store
in a cool and dry place.

• Camera Attachment
• Remove the fieldscope eyepiece and screw
in
the camera attachment FSA-L1 in its place. Take care not
to
damage
the screw thread.
• Attach the Nikon D300 or D80 digital SLR
to
the FSA-L
1.
(Other Nikon F Mount cameras can also be attached.)

1 Remove the selector cover.
2 Adjust the triangular mark on the selector
to
the letter corresponding
to
the fieldscope model using the supplied
screwdriver.

How
to Use
• Loosening the clamp screw allows the camera
to
rotate freely.
• Take photos with manual focusing mode. Autofocusing mode and focus-aid mode cannot be used.
• Carry out focusing by using the focusing ring
of
the fieldscope.
• Focus with the matte screen field.
• The camera attachment and fieldscope
do
not have an aperture such as that found in most cameras. Consequently,
the composite F-number
of
the fieldscope and camera attachment is a fixed aperture
of
13 regardless
of
the
diameter
of
the objective lens.
See the attached table for available exposure modes/metering systems. (For cameras not listed
in
the table,
operation has not yet been determined.)
Set the camera's exposure mode
to
Aperture-Priority Auto
(A)
(not available with some cameras) or Manual
(M).
(Programmed

In
Manual exposure mode, you can set the shutter speed based on the assumption that the composite F-number is
13 (regardless
of
the diameter
of
the objective lens).
• Because the optical system has different characteristics from ordinary interchangeable lenses, when the FSA-L1
and Fieldscope are used for shooting with a digital SLR camera, exposure may vary with individual cameras even if
the model is the same. Confirm the exposure indication in the external LCD.
• Exposure compensation may be necessary. The auto exposure bracketing (shooting several pictures with varying
exposure compensation) function offers a convenient way
to
do
this.
