About this document
This document describes the planning and configuration steps required for
integrating the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) with the Multimedia
Communication Server 5100 (MCS 5100) system.
The following systems and software releases are covered in this guide:
•BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Exchange Release 4.1
•Multimedia Communication Server 5100 Release 4.0
This document is intended to be a stand-alone guide, covering the
prerequisites to and implementation of a successful BES/MCS 5100
integration. A minimum skill set and level of understanding is assumed.

installers, and maintenance personnel.

of procedures you perform to integrate the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
(BES) and Multimedia Communication Server 5100 (MCS 5100) systems.

Prerequisites
Before you begin to integrate the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and
Multimedia Communication Server 5100 (MCS 5100) systems, ensure that
you complete the following prerequisites:
•"Knowledge requirements" (page 11)
•"Capturing integration parameters" (page 11)
•"Establishing the system baseline" (page 13)
Knowledge requirements
A working knowledge of the following systems and principles is required to
implement a BES/MCS 5100 systems integration:
•BES system
•MCS 5100 system
•WLAN
•networking principles
Capturing integration parameters
Table 2 "Integration parameters" (page 11) provides a list of parameters
required to successfully complete the integration. Record these parameters
during the initial planning phase of the integration.

Establishing the system baseline
To successfully integrate voice services, you must first establish the system
baseline for the BES and MCS 5100 systems so that the systems are
configured and working in a stand-alone environment.
Use the following table to complete system baselines prior to integration.

Wireless Client Manager installation
This section describes the installation of the Wireless Client Manager
(WiCM).
Wireless Client Manager installation prerequisites
Before you begin installing WiCM, ensure that Linux is installed and running
on the WiCM server.
Wireless Client Manager installation procedures
The sequence of Wireless Client Manager installation procedures is as
follows:
•"Installing Wireless Client Manager" (page 15)
•"Running Wireless Client Manager scripts" (page 17)
Installing Wireless Client Manager
Perform this procedure to install WiCM on stand-alone WiCM servers.
Step Action
1Log on to the stand-alone WiCM server as sysadmin.
2Switch the user.
su – root
3Place the WiCM CD in the DVD-ROM drive.
4Mount the DVD-ROM drive.
mount/mnt/cdrom
5Log off.
exit
6Log on as nortel.
7Change the directory to /mnt/cdrom.

25 Install the deploy utility.
install -m 644 WICMdeployUtil.pm /var/mcp/wicm
26 Change the directory to /var/mcp/wicm.

27 Run the WiCM software start script.
./WICM_start.pl
28 Enter yto confirm the user information.
29 Examine the output and verify that the WiCM process is running.
30 Unmount the DVD-ROM drive.

Running Wireless Client Manager scripts
When WiCM is installed, refer to this procedure to use the stop, start, and
run scripts on the WiCM server.
Step Action
1To run WICM_start.pl or WICM_stop.pl, log on as root.
To run WICM_restart.pl, log on as root or nortel.
2Change the directory to /var/mcp/wicm.
cd /var/mcp/wicm
3Run the WiCM software script.
Example:
./WICM_start.pl

Creating a service account and mailbox
Perform this procedure to create a service account and mailbox.
Step Action
1Log on to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with the administrator
username and password.
2In the Windows taskbar, select Start > Programs > Administrative
Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers.
3Create an account with the following attributes:
•For Name, type BESAdmin.

•For User location, select create a Microsoft Exchange
mailbox.
•For Group membership, select Domain User.
4Give this account the Send As permission for all user accounts in
the User container of your Active Directory domain.
5Send a test message to initialize the new mailbox.

Configuring Microsoft Windows permissions for the service account
Perform this procedure to assign Microsoft Windows permissions to the
service account.
Step Action
1Log on to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with the administrator
username and password.
2In the Windows taskbar, select Start > Programs > Administrative
Tools > Local Security Policy.
3Apply the following permissions to the service account:
•log on locally with local permissions (if not assigned by default)
•log on as a service
4In the Windows taskbar, select Start > Programs > Administrative
Tools > Computer Management.
5Add the service account to the local Administrators group.

Configuring Microsoft Exchange permissions for the service
account Perform this procedure to assign Microsoft Exchange permissions to the
service account.
Step Action
1At the administrative group level, set Exchange View Only
Administrator permission as the minimum access level.
