EasyFit Plus+ Bed Rail
P11849 Standard P11838 Tall
1.0 Intended Use
1.1 The EasyFit Plus+ Bed Rail provides stable support
to assist clients getting into and out of bed. When in bed
the rail can be used to assist raising to a sitting position
or repositioning when lying.
1.2 Designed for use with most types of domestic beds
including; divans with feet / castors, framed slatted beds
and electric profiling beds. It is not suitable for height
adjustable beds unless the height adjustment function
has been disabled, as this could damage the Bed Rail
and / or the bed frame when operated.
1.3 We recommend fitting the Standard Bed Rail
P11849 on beds with a mattress height up to 600mm; for
higher beds, the Tall Bed Rail P11838 should be used.
P11849 (Standard)
for bed heights less
than 600mm (24”)
P11838 (Tall) for
bed heights more
than 600mm (24”)
2.0 Safety
2.1 WARNING To avoid possible head entrapment,
position the Bed Rail at least 320mm (12.5”) away from
both headboard and footboard. See diagram.
2.2 ALWAYS ensure the Bed Rail is firmly clamped to
the bed frame. Check regularly to ensure the Bed Rail
is securely clamped.
2.3 ALWAYS ensure that the mattress is as close as
possible to the Bed Rail. Any gap could allow the client
to become wedged in-between.
2.4 DO NOT exceed product Maximum User weight:
160Kg (25st).
2.5 NOT suitable for use by children.
2.6 ALWAYS detach the handrail from the base
before carrying or storing the product.
2.7 DO NOT use on electrically height adjustable beds unless the height adjustment function
has been disabled, as this could damage the Bed Rail and/or the bed frame when operated.

3.0 Unpacking (See Diagram 1)
3.1 Carefully unpack the product. Check all
parts are present. Check for damage. If you see
or suspect a fault, do not assemble or use the
product. Contact your supplier immediately.
4.0 Handrail Assembly
4.1 Position the Handrail so the Clamp Plates
are facing away from the Base Plate and towards
the bed. (See Diagrams 1&2)
4.2 Align the Handrail tubes with the four Base
Rods and push downwards until the bottom of
the Handrail is touching the base. The product is
now assembled.
5.0 Fitting to Bed
5.1 Unlock the Bed Clamps by opening the
Clamp Levers so the Bed Clamps can slide down
the Handrail tubes. (See Diagram 3)
5.2 Check the floor surface is level and even.
The bed base must be at least 30mm above the
floor and clear of obstructions.
5.3 Slide the Bed Rail under the bed in
approximately the correct position.
5.4 Position the Bed Rail such that the user can
reach the handle from a relaxed lying position
without having to stretch. For the safety of the
user, this must be at least 320mm away from the
headboard or footboard.
5.5 Slide the Bed Clamps up the Handrail until
the Clamp Plates contact the underside of the
bed frame and will go no further. The front faces
of the Bed Clamps should be flush with the side
of the bed. (See Diagram 5)
5.6 Lock the Bed Clamps by closing the Clamp
Levers. (See Diagram 4)

6.0 Tightening the Bed Rail before use
To ensure the Bed Rail is firmly fixed to the bed
and will not come loose in operation, tighten the
Bed Rail to the Bed using the Adjustment Lever.
6.1 For most slatted bed frames, turn the
Adjustment Lever clockwise (A) until some
resistance is felt and the Bed Rail feels secure.
(See Diagram 6)
Note: With lightweight beds the bed may raise
off the floor when tightening the lever. If this
happens, slacken the lever until all four corners
of the bed are in contact with the ground.
6.2 For divans and low bed frames, full turns of
the Adjustment Lever may not be possible. After
each half turn clockwise (A), push in the
Release Button (B) on top of the Adjustment
Lever and simultaneously lift and rotate the
Adjustment Lever anticlockwise (C) half a turn.
(See Diagram 7)
When the Adjustment Lever has returned to the
start position (See Diagram 8), release the
Button (D) and tighten the Adjustment Lever
again by turning clockwise (E). Repeat step 6.2
and tighten the Adjustment Lever until
resistance is felt and the handrail is secure.
6.3 It is recommended that the Bed Rail is
checked at least monthly, to ensure it is
securely fixed to the bed. It can be re-tightened
by turning the adjustment lever clockwise a half
turn.
Note: If the Bed Rail cannot be re-tightened
sufficiently using the method above, we
recommend removing the Bed Rail and re-
installing following the instructions in Section 5
and 6.
7.0 Removing the Bed Rail
7.1 The Bed Rail can be removed by turning
the Adjustment Lever anti-clockwise a few turns
until the bottom of the Handrail touches the
Base Plate. Then release the 2 Clamp Levers.

8.0 Cleaning
8.1 Clean regularly using a general
purpose, neutral detergent and warm water.
Allow the Bed Rail to dry thoroughly prior to
use/storage.
Please check the suitability of the cleaning
product before use. Do not use abrasive
cleaners or cloths as these will permanently
damage the surface and invalidate any
warranty.
8.2 To disinfect, wipe with a dilute bleach
solution and rinse thoroughly with water.
9.0 Maintenance
9.1 Inspect the Bed Rail periodically and
before re-use for signs of general wear or
damage. Any suspected faults or damage
should immediately be reported to the
supplier and the product taken out of use.
