Disassembly & Reassembly Procedures
Distributed at the Oki Data C900 Series Service Classes
Oki Data Training Department REV.1.60
2000 Bishops Gate Blvd.
Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054
II
Copyright 2014 by Oki Data Americas, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
This document describes the disassembly of the Oki Data C900 series of
printers. It is to be used during Oki Data Service Training. It is not designed to be a
self-directed course, as Oki Data Trainers will provide additional information as required
during the course. We are not responsible for typographical errors nor or we responsible
for manufacturing changes that are considered part of a products life cycle.
This document is being provided in conjunction with an Oki Data sponsored and
instructor led course. Be aware that the machine you are working with may have
already been disassembled, resulting in parts and / or screws being incorrectly replaced.
You are responsible for your own personal safety as you work through this course. You
are expected to know how to safely operate, disassemble, and repair machines of this
type. Oki Data is providing disassembly, troubleshooting, repair and reassembly
instructions specific to this series of printers. Oki Data assumes that each student has
already demonstrated their knowledge of basic electronics, troubleshooting, disassembly
and reassembly of this type of equipment.
Important Safety Notes:
• This product generates potentially lethal voltages. While Oki Data has made
every attempt to insure safe operation and voltage interruption by installing safety
circuits, it is possible to by-pass these safety circuits. Oki Data will not be
responsible for the safety of any attendee who knowingly by-passes any of these
safety devices.
• The printer units are very heavy. The C911 printer weighs approximately 230
pounds. Safe lifting techniques are required and Oki Data assumes that the
attendee is versed in established safe lifting techniques.
• These printers contain large amounts of metal that may have sharp edges or
burrs on edges. Oki Data assumes no liability for carelessness that results in
injuries to attendees. In short – Be Aware – Be Careful - Don’t Fool Around!
• If you are unsure of something – ask the Oki Data Trainer before continuing.
• Follow the disassembly instructions as they are written to insure your safety as
well as your successful disassembly/reassembly of the printer(s) you’ll be
working with.

1All printer directions refer from front of printer
IMPORTANT: Please keep all screws with the parts they came out of and during reassembly pay
careful attention to installing the correct screw color and size. If you have leftover
screws – please return them to the instructors before the printers are re-packed.

Lift the toner cartridge cover to view the
installed toner cartridges.
NOTE: The C911 / C931 each have 4
toner cartridges and drums while the C941
has 5 toner cartridges and drums.
2
3
Remove all toner cartridges by lifting the
front edge and slowly pulling it out.
You will see a blue handle on top of the
toner of the toner cartridge when it is
about half way out. Lift and support the
toner cartridge by this handle.
4
Open the front door to reveal the installed
drums.
Remove the drums by lifting the front edge
and pulling the drum out. As you slowly
pull the drum out, grab the drum as shown
to fully remove and support the drum as
you remove it.
CAUTION: Never grab the drum
assembly around the bottom as your
hands / fingers may touch the surface of
the drum, leaving oil on the drum surface.
NOTE: Never wipe the drum surface
with anything!
3
5
Remove waste toner bottle by pulling the
handle on the end of the waste toner
bottle. As you remove the waster toner
bottle, you will see a handle in the middle
of the bottle. Grab and support the waste

it from the printer.
6
Remove Belt Unit:
On either side of the belt assembly are blue
captive locks. Gently twist these 2 locks
and lower the locking handles.
Grasp the blue handle and move it to the
right to unlock the transfer belt assembly
4
7
Grasp both transfer belt handles and gently
pull the transfer belt assembly from the
printer.About 2/3 of the way removed you
will feel resistance – just lift the belt
assembly slightly to clear these “safety
stops.”
After removing the transfer belt assembly,
push the blue handle to the left and close
and re-lock the locking handles, Unlocked
in Step 6.
Failure to re-lock the 2 lock levers prior to
closing the front drum door may break the
lock levers or the front drum door!
CAUTION: Do Not place the image
belt in any position other than horizontal as
you may create a toner spill if you do.
Place the belt on a clean, smooth surface to
protect the transfer belt from
contamination.
CAUTION: Do Not Touch the belt
surface as you will leave fingerprints and
this may cause printed image problems.
8
Steps 3 through 7 are required to clean and
service the LED Print heads in the printer.
Close the front drum door.
5
9

6

Caution – there are 2 wire harnesses
attached to the rear of the operator panel.
Reassembly Warning:
It is very easy to unplug one of these
connectors when reattaching the operator
panel during reassembly. If the cable(s)
are disconnected, symptoms may be no
display and no initialization when
powered up.
13
Unplug the 2 wire harnesses from the
operator control panel board.
14

on the inside) of the cover below the
duplexer.

2 screws and 4 tabs.

cover, which is secured by 3 screws and 4
tabs.
Gently lift the corner over the main power
switch.
8
19
On the rear cover, remove the HDD access
cover w/1 captive screw.
20
Remove 7 sliver screws from the rear
cover. There is also a tab on the left side of
the printer, near the power switch, that
you must depress to remove the cover.
Release that tab and gently lift the cover
over the lift handle extension on the side
and slide off to remove.
NOTE: Some units may have 1
additional screw in the middle of the back
cover.
21

place, 1 in the rear of the printer and one
at the front of the printer – shown on next
page.
