EXHAUSTGASES ARE DEADLY
Engineexhaust containsCARBON MONOXIDE, a dan-
gerousgasthatispotentiallylethal. Avoidcarbonmonox-
ide inhalation by operating the generator set outdoors
where exhaust gasescan bedischargeddirectly intothe
openair.
Do
notoperatethegeneratorset inanytype of enclosure
thatcouldallowexhaust gasestoaccumulate. Directex-
haustgasawayfromareaswherepeoplearegatheredand
awayfrom buildingsor enclosures.
MOVING PARTSCAN CAUSE SEVERE PERSONAL
INJURY OR DEATH
Beforeperforminganymaintenanceonthegeneratorset,
disconnectthe spark plugwire (and the starting battery
negative

cableonelectricstartsets)topreventacciden-
talstarting.
Keephandsaway from movingparts.
Donotwear looseclothingorjewelrywhileservicingany
partof thegeneratorset. Looseclothingandjewelrycan
become caught in moving parts. Jewelry can short out
electricalcontactsandcauseshock or burning.
Makesurethatfastenersonthegeneratorsetaresecure.
Tightensupportsandclamps,keepguardsinpositionover
fans, drivebelts, etc.
Ifadjustmentsmustbemadewhilethegeneratorsetisrun-
ning,useextremecautionaround
hot
manifoldsandmov-
ingparts, etc.
ELECTRICAL SHOCK CAN CAUSESEVERE
PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH
Disconnect starting battery before removing protective
shieldsor touchingelectrical equipment. Use rubberin-
sulativematsplacedondrywoodplatformsoverfloorsthat
aremetalor concretewhen aroundelectricalequipment.
Donotweardampclothing(particularlywetshoes)orallow
skin surface

be damp when handlingelectricalequip-
ment.
Use extreme caution when working on electricalcompo-

tamperwithinterlocks.
