installedproperlyfortheOnanYDPTOACgenera-
tortooperatecorrectly.EachPTOinstallationis
dif-
ferent,dependingonthemanufacturer'srequire-
ments.PTOoperatingconsiderationsastheyaffect
theOnangeneratoraredescribedlaterinthissec-
tion.

parts replacement can result In severe personal

vice personnel must be qualified to Install elec-
trical and mechanical components.

MOUNTING

Thevehiclemanufac-
turerandtheinstallermustprovideastructural-
lysoundsupportarea.
•Generatormountingholeconfiguration:
Themountingareamustbeabletoacceptthe
mountingholearrangementfoundonthe
gen-
erator.Generatormountingholesareillus-
tratedinSection7 ofthismanual.
•Generatorventilation:Themountingarea
musthavesufficientventilationforthegenera-
tor'scoolingrequirements.Anareawith
mini-
maldustanddirtispreferable.Generatorair
requirementsarelistedinSection2 ofthis
manual.
NOTE:
Avoidrecirculationofventilationair.
Configurethegeneratorventilationsothatonly
freshairiscirculatedthroughthegenerator.
•Protectionfromexhaustheat:Thegenerator
mustbeprotectedfromexcessheat:forthis
reason,
itshouldnotbemountedclosetothe
vehiclemufflerorexhaustareaunlessitisab-
solutelynecessary.Usea heatshieldifthe
mufflerandgeneratoraretobemountedclose
together.
•Generatormountinghardware:Alongwitha
mountingframeworkforthegenerator,hard-
wareforconnectingthegeneratortothePTO
outputshouldbeconsidered.Components
thatmustbeselectedtypicallyinclude:
•A keyedcouplertoconnectthegenerator
shafttothePTOoutput

U-joints
forthePTO-generatorcoupling
•A slidingcouplerelementtopreventthrust
loadonthefrontbearingofthegenerator

agetothetransmissionorgeneratordue
toa seizedbearingorhighstartingtorque
