faxmachines,modems,etc.)connectedtoanexchangelinemust
notadduptomorethan4,otherwiseoneormoreofthemmaynot
ringand/oranswercallscorrectly.ThephonehasaRENof1,and
mostothertelephoneshaveaRENof1unlessmarkedotherwise.
Touseyourhandsetandbasetogether,youmustbeableto
establisharadiolinkbetweenthem.Thesignalbetweenthe
handsetandthebaseisinaccordancewiththenormalstandards
foraDECTphone:Maximumrangeupto300metresoutdoorsor
50metresindoors.
Thesignalrangemaydecreaseifthereisanylargemetalobject
betweenthehandsetandthebase,suchasarefrigerator,amirror,
alingcabinet,metallicdoorsorreinforcedconcrete.Thesignal
strengthmayalsobereducedbyothersolidstructureslikewalls,
orbyotherradioorelectricalinterference.

INSTALLINGYOURPHONE
Connecting the base station
1) PlugtheACAdaptor andlinecord into
thebasestation.
2) PlugtheACAdaptorintoamainssocket,and
thelinecordintoyourtelephonelinesocket.
3) Alwaysusethecablesprovidedinthebox.
Warning: UseonlytheACAdaptorwiththis
product.UsinganyotherACAdaptormaycauseahazardandcause
theproductnottoworkcorrectly.
InstallthebaseunitinapositionwheretheACAdaptorwillreach
aneasilyaccessiblemainssocket.NevertrytolengthentheAC
Adaptorcable.
NOTE
The base unit needs mains power for normal operation, not just for charging the handset
batteries.
Installing and charging the battery pack
1) Placethesuppliedbatterypackintothe
batteryCompartmentwiththeconnector
fullyinsertedasshownUseonlytheNiMH
rechargeablebatterypackprovided.
2) Positionthebatterycompartmentcoverover
thebatteriesandslideuptoclickintoplace.
3) Putthehandsetonthebaseandchargefor15hoursbefore
usingthehandsetforthersttime.Thehandsetwillgiveabeep
whenitisproperlyplacedonthebaseorcharger.
Battery performance
Inidealconditions,fullychargedbatteriesshouldgiveabout10
hourstalktimeor100hoursstandbytimeonasinglecharge.Note
thatnewbatteriesdonotreachfullcapacityuntiltheyhavebeenin
normaluseforseveraldays.
Thechargecapacityofrechargeablebatterieswillreducewith
timeastheywearout,givingthehandsetlesstalk/standbytime.
Eventuallytheywillneedtobereplaced.
Batteriesandhandsetmaybecomewarmduringcharging.Thisis
normal.
If you have a Broadband line
Ifyouconnectyourtelephonetoaline
withabroadbandconnection,youmust
connectaninlinelter(notsupplied)
betweenthetelephonesocketand
yourphonebasetoensurethatyour
broadbandandSlimwillworkproperly.
Ifyoudonotinstallthelteryouwillexperienceinterferenceonthe
cordlessphoneandyourBroadbandmaysufferdropouts.Please
refertotheuserguideoftheinlinelterforinstallation.
Inahomewithbroadband,everytelephone,faxoranswering
systemmusthaveain-linelterconnected,notjusttheoneatthe
telephonepointthatyourmodemisconnectedto.

Tip!
Itisgoodpracticetoputthecordlesshandsetonthecharging
cradlewhenitisnotinusetoensurethatthehandsetisalways

Answer a Call

the call automatically, and no buttons need to be pressed.

Adjust Volume

Duringacall:
Press<UP/DOWN>toselectvolume1-5.Thecurrentsettingis
shown.
Whenyouendthecall,thesettingwillremainatthelastselected

Mute a Call
Youcantalktosomeonenearbywithoutlettingthecallerhearyou
duringacall.
Duringacall:
Press<C>tomutethemicrophoneand“MUTED”willdisplayon
theLCD.Yourcallercannothearyou.Press<C>againtounmute
themicrophone.
Turn off the Handset Ringer
Inidle,pressandhold<HASH/#>toturnoffthehandsetringer.
The“RINGEROFF”iconisdisplayedontheLCD.
NOTE
The display will still ash the <Call icon> and show CALL or the Caller Display number,
when there is an incoming call, even if the ringer is turned off. To turn the ringer back on,
press and hold <HASH/#> again.
Turn on the Keypad Lock
Inidle,pressandhold<STAR/*>toturnonthekeypadlock.The
“KEYPADLOCK”iconisdisplayedontheLCD.
NOTE
You can still use <TALK> to answer a call when the handset is ringing. To turn the keypad
lock off, press and hold <STAR/*> again.
Redial the last number
Youcanredialanyofthe5lastnumberscalled.Ifyouhavestored
anameinphonebooktogowiththenumber,thenamewillbe
displayedinstead.Themostrecentlastnumberwilldisplayatthe
topoftherediallist.
Redial a Number from the Redial List
1. Inidlemode,press<DOWN/REDIAL>toaccesstherediallist.
NOTE
If the redial list entry shows a name, press <Hash/#> to view the number of this entry.
2. Press<UP/DOWN>tobrowsetherediallist.
3. Press<TALK>todialtotheselectedredialnumber.

Store a Redial Number into the Phonebook
1.FollowSteps1and2insection“RedialaNumberfromthe
RedialList”.

3.Press<MENU/OK>andthenenterthenameyouwanttousein
thephonebook.
4.Press<MENU/OK>andthenmodifythenumber,ifnecessary.
5.Press<MENU/OK>toshow<MELODY1>.
6.Press<UP/DOWN>tobrowsetheringtonelist.Therespective
ringtonewillbeplayedwhenbrowsingtheringtonelist.(Note:
theselectedmelodywillonlybeplayedwhenyoureceivea

7. Press<MENU/OK>toconrm,andtheentrywillbestored.
Delete a Redial Number
1.FollowSteps1and2insection“RedialaNumberfromthe
RedialList”.
2.Press<MENU/OK>and<UP/DOWN>toselectDELETE.
3.Press<MENU/OK>toconrm,andtheentrywillbedeleted.
Delete all Redial List entries
1.FollowSteps1and2insection“RedialaNumberfromthe
RedialList”.
2.Press<MENU/OK>and<UP/DOWN>toselectDELETE ALL.
3.Press<MENU/OK>todisplay“CONFIRM?”.
4.Press<MENU/OK>toconrm.Allentrieswillbedeletedand
thedisplaywillshow“EMPTY”.
Find the Handset
YoucanlocatethehandsetbypressingthePagebutton inthe
middleofthefrontofthebasestation.Allthehandsetsregistered
tothebasewillproducethepagingtoneandshow"PAGING"on
thedisplayfor60seconds.
Youcanstopthepagingbypressing<TALK>/<OFF>/<C>onany
handsetor<PAGE>onthebaseagain.
NOTE
If there is an incoming call during paging, the phone will ring with the incoming call
instead of paging.
Make an Internal Call (Multi - handset versions only)
Thisfeatureisonlyapplicablewhenthereareatleasttwo
registeredhandsets.Itallowsyoutomakeinternalcalls,transfer
externalcallsfromonehandsettoanotherhandsetandmake
conferencecalls.Ifthecalledhandsetisnotansweredwithin
60seconds,thecalledhandsetwillstopringingandthecalling
handsetwillreturntostandbymode.
NOTE
If only one handset is registered to the base station, when <C/MUTE/INT> is pressed,
it will display “NOT POSSIBLE”.

Intercom Another Handset
1. Inidlemode,press<C/MUTE/INT>andalltheotherregistered
handsetnumberswilldisplay,alongwitha"9".
2. Enterthenumberofthehandsetthatyouwanttocall,orenter
"9"tocallallhandsets.
3. Thecalledhandsetringsand<TALK>mustbepressedonthat
handsettoestablishtheintercomcall.
NOTE
If only two handsets are registered to the base station, pressing <C/MUTE/INT> will call
the other handset immediately.
If there is an external call while you are on an intercom call, you'll hear warning beeps,
and you have to end the intercom call, before you can answer the external call.
Call All Handsets
1. Inidlemode,press<C/MUTE/INT>andtheregisteredhandsets
willdisplay.
2. Press<KEY9>toringtoallregisteredhandsets.
Transfer an External Call to another handset
Duringanexternalcall:
1. Press<MENU/OK>and<UP/DOWN>toselectINTERCOM.
2. Press<MENU/OK>toshowalltheotherregisteredhandset
numbers,plus"9".Enterthenumberforthehandsetyouwant
totransferthecallto.
3. Theexternalcallisputonholdautomaticallyandthecalled
handsetrings.
4. Press<TALK>onthecalledhandsettoestablishaninternal
call.
5. Press<OFF>onthecallinghandsetorputthecallinghandset
onthechargingcradletoendthecurrentcallwiththeexternal
party.
6. Theexternalcallistransferredtothecalledhandset.
NOTE
If the other handset has not answered the intercom call, you can stop the intercom and
return to the external call by pressing <OFF>.
Make a 3-way Conference Call
Theconferencecallfeatureallowsoneexternalcalltobeshared
withtwohandsets(inintercom).
Thethreepartiescansharetheconversationandnoadditional
networksubscriptionisrequired.
Duringanexternalcall:
1. FollowSteps1to4insection“TransferanExternalCallto
anotherhandset”.
2. Pressandholdthestarkey<*>onthecallinghandsetto
establishtheconferencecall.
Eitherhandsetcanexittheconferencebypressing<OFF>,leaving
theotherhandsetstillconnectedtotheexternalcall.

namesandnumbers.Eachphonebookentrycanhaveamaximum
of20digitsforthephonenumberand12charactersforthename.

(Note:thedifferentringtonesonlyplaywhenyoureceiveacallif
yousubscribetoCallerDisplayandtheincomingnumbermatches
thestorednumber.)Phonebookentriesarestoredalphabetically
byname.

Identicationservicewithyournetworkserviceprovider.Your
phonecanstoreupto10receivedcallswithdate/timeinformation
intheCallList.Thenumberwillbeshownonthehandsetdisplay
whenthephoneisringing.Ifthenumbermatcheswithoneofthe
entriesinyourPrivatePhonebook,thecaller’snamestoredinthe
privatephonebookwillbedisplayedalternatelywiththenumber,
andthehandsetwillringwiththeringtoneassociatedwiththat
phonebookentry.
Ifthecallisfromsomeonewhowithheldtheirnumber,e.g.by
dialling141,“WITHHELD”willdisplay.
Ifthecallisfromsomeonewhosenumberisunavailable,e.g.an
internationalcallorfromaprivateexchange,“OUT OF AREA”
willdisplay.
Ifyou'vegotnewCallerDisplayrecords,thehandsetwilldisplay
"XNEWCALLS"instandbymode.TheNewCallsindicationwill
remainuntilallthenewcallrecordshavebeenviewedonthat
handset.
View the Call List
AllreceivedcallsaresavedintheCallListwiththelatestcallat
thetopofthelist.Whenthecalllistisfull,theoldestcallwillbe
replacedbyanewcall.Anyunansweredcallswhichhavenotbeen
viewedaremarkedwitha<*>iconatthecentreofthebottomline
ofthedisplay.
