PRECAUCIONES IMPORTANTES
Cuando se utiliza cualquier artefacto eléctrico, siempre se deben seguir
precauciones básicas de seguridad, incluyendo las siguientes:
1. LEA TODAS LAS INSTRUCCIONES, ETIQUETAS DEL PRODUCTO Y
ADVERTENCIAS ANTES DE UTILIZAR EL ARTEFACTO.
2. Antes de conectar el artefacto, asegúrese de que el voltaje en su tomacorriente
sea el mismo que el voltaje indicado en la etiqueta de clasificación de la unidad.
3. NO toque las superficies calientes. Siempre use guantes para horno cuando
manipule materiales calientes y deje que las partes metálicas se enfríen antes de
limpiarlas. Permita que la unidad se enfríe completamente antes de colocarle o
retirarle partes. Utilice siempre los guantes cuando mueva la unidad.
4. Cuando la unidad no esté en uso y antes de limpiarla, desenchufe el artefacto
del tomacorriente de la pared. NOTA: Asegúrese de que la unidad esté apagada
antes de desenchufarla.
5. Para protegerse contra el riesgo de descarga eléctrica, no sumerja el artefacto
en agua ni en ningún otro líquido.
6. Cuando utilice el artefacto, mantenga la unidad a una distancia mínima de 15

funcionamiento. No guarde ningún artículo sobre el artefacto cuando esté en
funcionamiento.
14. La superficie exterior puede calentarse cuando se utiliza el artefacto.

La Tapa con Cierre de Seguridad mantiene la
unidad cerrada. Esto permite que la unidad
mantenga la temperatura adecuada y garantiza
la uniformidad de cocción.
4. Superficies de Cocción Antiadherentes
Las superficies de cocción antiadherentes
permiten una fácil liberación de las arepas y
facilita la limpieza.

PREPARACIÓN PARA EL PRIMER USO
1. Retire todo el material de embalaje.
2. Limpie las superficies de cocción con un paño suave y húmedo y luego deje
secar.
3. Engrase ligeramente las superficies de cocción con un poco de aceite de
cocina.
4. Caliente, sin cubrir, hasta que alcance el máximo calor.
5. Apague y enfríe por completo.
6. Limpie el aceite en exceso con agua caliente sin frotar. Tenga cuidado para
evitar que el agua entre en el aparato.
7. Seque la superficie con un paño seco. Ahora el aparato está listo para ser
usado.
NUNCA SUMERJA LA UNIDAD EN EL AGUA.
UTILIZANDO SU ARTEFACTO
1. Inserte el enchufe en un tomacorriente adecuado hasta que se encienda la
Luz Indicadora de Encendido .
2. Permita que la unidad se precaliente durante aproximadamente 5 minutos
antes de comenzar a utilizarla.
3. Cuando su Tosty Arepa Oster se calienta por primera vez, puede emitir un
ligero humo u olor, esto es normal con los artefactos de calefacción. Esto
no afecta la seguridad de su artefacto.
4. Para obtener mejores resultados, rocíe ligeramente las placas de cocción
con aceite en aerosol antes de usarlas. Esto ayudará a retirar fácilmente las
arepas después de la cocción.
5. Tenga la masa lista y divídala en porciones iguales. Con la palma de
las manos, haga las porciones de masa en forma de bolitas del tamaño
adecuado y colóquelas en cada cavidad antiadherente. Cierre la tapa y el
cierre de serguridad del artefacto.
NOTA: No use bolsas de plástico desechables, ya que pueden derretirse
si entran en contacto con las placas calientes. Las superficies están
CALIENTES.
6. Al conocer mejor su Tosty Arepa Oster, se familiarizará con la cantidad
ideal de masa necesaria para preparar las arepas adecuadas y el tiempo de
cocción ideal requerido.
7. En aproximadamente 7 minutos, podrá disfrutar de deliciosas arepas. Retire
las arepas con una espátula de madera o plástico.
8. El tiempo de cocción estimado para preparar arepas es de
aproximadamente 7 minutos. Si prefiere arepas más doradas y oscuras, se
recomienda que prolongue el tiempo de cocción durante unos minutos.
9. Una vez que haya terminado de usar el artefacto, desenchufe la unidad del
tomacorriente.
10. Las superficies están CALIENTES.

MANTENIMIENTO Y LIMPIEZA
Este artefacto debe limpiarse después de cada uso.
1. Desenchufe siempre la unidad del tomacorriente cuando no la esté utilizando o
antes de limpiarla. Permita que se enfríe por completo antes de limpiarla.
2. Las placas de cocción están recubiertas con una superficie de cocción
antiadherente, por lo tanto requiere poca limpieza. Simplemente limpie las placas
con un paño húmedo.
3. No sumerja el artefacto en agua ni en ningún otro líquido. No utilice estropajos,
polvos o limpiadores abrasivos. Antes del siguiente uso, engrase ligeramente las
placas de cocción para retirar fácilmente las arepas cocidas.
4. NO LAVAR EN EL LAVAPLATOS AUTOMÁTICO.
GUARDANDO SU ARTEFACTO
Para minimizar el espacio de almacenamiento en su cocina, su Tosty Arepa
Oster puede almacenarse de manera vertical. Permita que el Tosty Arepa
Oster se enfríe antes de enrollar el cable alrededor de la base del artefacto y
almacenarlo verticalmente.

RECETAS
“Arepas Criollas” (Masa)
2 ½ tazas de agua
2 tazas de harina de maíz blanca pre-cocida
2 cucharaditas de sal
Instrucciones de Preparación:
Coloque el agua en un recipiente y agregue sal. Agregue la harina poco a poco y
mezcle bien.
Amase la masa y espere 2-3 minutos. Amase la masa de nuevo. Divida la masa
en porciones iguales. Con las palmas de las manos, haga las porciones de masa
en forma de bolitas y coloque una bola de masa en cada cavidad antiadherente de
su Tosty Arepa Oster durante aproximadamente 7 minutos. Para un mejor sabor,
también puede agregar chicharrón de puerco o queso rallado a la mezcla de la
masa.
Para obtener los mejores resultados, se recomienda encarecidamente
utilizar este artefacto con la receta anterior.
“Reina Pepiada” (Relleno de Pollo)
Instrucciones de Preparación:
Corte las papas y las zanahorias en cuadritos pequeños. Hierva las zanahorias y las
papas en agua con sal, hasta que estén suaves. Pique el pollo en trozos pequeños.
Mezcle la mayonesa, el azúcar, la mostaza y el jugo de limón. Mezcle con las papas,
las zanahorias y el pollo y agregue los guisantes. Pique el aguacate en rebanadas y
rellene las arepas con 2 cucharadas de relleno, luego cúbrala con una rebanada de
aguacate.
Ingredientes: (Rinde para 10 Arepas)
4 papas
1 lata pequeña de guisantes
¼ de cucharadita de azúcar
¼ de cucharadita de jugo de limón
2 pechugas de pollo (al horno o al vapor)
3 zanahorias
1 ½ taza de mayonesa
¼ de cucharadita de mostaza
1 aguacate

RECETAS
“Carne Mechada” (Relleno de Carne)
“Carne Molida” (Relleno de Carne)
Instrucciones de Preparación:
Cocine la carne en agua con sal con una cebolla entera y un pimiento rojo entero.
Cocine hasta que esté blanda. Deje enfriar y separe una taza del caldo. Desmeche
la carne finamente. Fría ligeramente los tomates, la cebolla, el pimiento rojo, los
pimientos dulces y el ajo en aceite y agregue la carne desmchada. Añada los
condimentos restantes. Añada una taza de caldo y deje cocinar durante 10 minutos.
Rellene las arepas y sirva.
Instrucciones de Preparación:
En la licuadora, mezcle los tomates, la cebolla, el pimentón rojo, el pimiento dulce
y el ajo junto con dos cucharadas de agua. Mezcle con la masa molida. Añada la
sal, la salsa Worcester y el comino. Cocine y deje que se merme por unos minutos.
Rellene las arepas y sirva.
Ingredientes:
1 kg de carne de flanco, cortado en
trozos medianos
1 pimentón rojo entero
1 taza de cebolla, finamente picada
¼ de cucharada de aceite
1 cucharadita de salsa Worcester
1 cebolla entera
2 tazas de tomates, finamente picados
1 taza de pimiento rojo, finamente
picado
3 dientes de ajo
1 cucharadita de sal
½ cucharadita de pimienta
½ cucharadita de comino
Ingredientes:
1 kg de carne molida
1 cebolla grande, picada
2 pimientos dulces, finamente picados
1 cucharadita de sal
½ cucharadita de comino
3 Tomates, finamente picados
1 pimentón rojo, finamente picado
3 dientes de ajo
1 cucharadita de salsa Worcester

RECETAS
Relleno De Atún
“Perico” (Relleno de Huevo)
Instrucciones de Preparación:
Fría ligeramente todas las verduras, condimente con sal, salsa Worcester y comino.
Combine el atún y mezcle con las verduras. Cocine a fuego lento durante 3 minutos.
Rellene las arepas y sirva.
Instrucciones de cocina:
Fría ligeramente las cebollas, agregue el tomate y la sal. Cocine por 2 o 3 minutos.
Separe las claras de huevo y bátalas. Mezcle las claras de huevo con la yema de
huevo y combine con las cebollas y los tomates. Añada la leche y cocine. El huevo
debe estar líquido. Rellene las arepas y sirva.
Ingredientes:
1 lata de atún
1 cucharadita de sal
½ cucharadita de comino
½ taza de cebolla mixta, pimiento rojo
y tomate, finamente picado
½ cucharadita de salsa Worcester
2 cucharaditas de aceite
Ingredientes:
4 huevos
1 cebolla, finamente picada
3 cucharadas de leche
3 tomates, finamente picados
3 cucharadas de aceite
1 cucharadita de sal

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be
followed including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS, PRODUCT LABELS AND WARNINGS BEFORE
USING THE APPLIANCE.
2. Before connecting the appliance, make certain the voltage in your outlet is the
same as the voltage indicated on the appliance’s rating label.
3. DO NOT touch hot surfaces. Always use oven mitts when handling hot
materials and allow metal parts to cool before cleaning. Allow the unit to cool
thoroughly before putting in or taking off parts. Always use the handles when
moving the unit.
4. When the unit is not in use and before cleaning, unplug the appliance from the
wall outlet. NOTE: Make sure the unit is turned off before unplugging.
5. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not immerse the appliance in water
or any other liquids.
6. When using the appliance, pull the unit out a minimum of 15 cm (6 inches)
away from walls on all sides. Remove cords from other products from behind the
appliance.
7. DO NOT operate this or any appliance with a frayed or damaged cord or plug
or after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or has been damaged in any
manner. Take this appliance only to the nearest Authorized Service Center for
examination, repair or adjustment.
8. DO NOT use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer; they may
cause fire, electric shock or personal injury.
9. DO NOT use outdoors or for commercial purposes.
10. DO NOT use this appliance for other than its intended use.
11. DO NOT let the cord dangle over the edge of a tabletop or countertop or touch
hot surfaces.
12. DO NOT place the appliance near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
13. A fire may occur if the appliance is covered or touching flammable materials,
including curtains, draperies, walls, etc., when in operation. Do not store any
items on top of the appliance when in operation..
14. The outer surface may get hot when appliance is used.
15. DO NOT leave the appliance unattended during use.
16. DO NOT operate in the open position.
17. Use on a heat resistant, flat level surface only.

as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments, farm
houses, by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments, bed
and breakfast type environments.

The Locking Lid keeps the unit closed. This
will allow the unit to maintain the appropriate
temperature and ensure cooking uniformity.
4. Non-Stick Cooking Surfaces
The Non-Stick Cooking Surfaces allow for easy
release of the arepas and facilitates clean-up.

PREPARING FOR FIRST TIME USE
1. Remove all packaging.
2. Clean the cooking surfaces with a soft damp cloth and then allow to dry.
3. Slightly grease the cooking surfaces with a little cooking oil.
4. Warm uncovered until the appliance reaches maximum heat.
5. Turn off and cool completely.
6. Clean off excess oil with warm water without rubbing. Take care to prevent water
from running into the appliance.
7. Dry the surface with a dry cloth. Now the appliance is ready to be used.
NEVER SUBMERGE UNIT IN WATER.
USING YOUR APPLIANCE
1. Insert the plug into the appropriate power outlet until the Power Light
indicator turns on.
2. Allow the unit to pre-heat for about 5 minutes before beginning use.
3. When your Oster Tosty Arepa is heated for the first time it may emit slight smoke
or odor, this is normal with heating appliances. This does not affect the safety of
your appliance.
4. For best results, lightly spray the cooking plates with a cooking oil spray before
using. This will assist in the removal of the arepas after cooking.
5. Have the dough ready and divide it into equal portions. Using the palm of
your hands, roll appropriately sized portions of dough and place in each
non-stick cavity. Close the lid and latch the appliance closed.
NOTE: Do not use disposable plastic piping bags as these may melt if they come
into contact with hot plates. Surfaces are HOT.
6. As you become acquianted with your Oster Tosty Arepa, you will become familiar
with the ideal quantity of dough needed to prepare proper arepas and the ideal
cooking time required.
7. In approximately 7 minutes, you will be able to enjoy delicious arepas. Remove
the arepas with wood or plastic spatula.
8. The estimated cooking time to prepare arepas is approximately 7 minutes. If
you prefer darker, golden brown arepas, it is recommended that you extend the
cooking time for a few minutes.
9. After you have completed using the appliance, unplug the unit from the electrical
outlet.
10. Surfaces are HOT.

CARE AND CLEANING
This appliance should be cleaned after every use.
1. Always unplug the appliance from outlet when not
in use or before cleaning. Allow to completely cool before cleaning.
2. The cooking plates are coated with non-stick cooking surface, therefore little
cleaning is required. Simply wipe cooking plates over with a damp cloth.
3. Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. Do not use abrasive
scouring pads, powders or cleaners. Before next use; lightly grease the cooking
plates for easy removal of cooked arepas.
4. DO NOT WASH IN DISHWASHER.
STORING YOUR APPLIANCE
To minimize storage space in your kitchen, the Oster Tosty Arepa can be stored
vertically. Allow the Oster Tosty Arepa to cool before wrapping the cord around
the base of the appliance and storing vertically.

RECIPE
“Arepas Criollas” (Dough)
2 1/2 Cups of Water
2 Cups of Precooked White Corn Flour
2 Teaspoons of Salt
Cooking Instructions:
Place the water in a bowl and add salt. Slowly add the flour and mix thoroughly.
Knead the dough and wait 2-3 minutes. Knead the dough again. Divide the dough
into equal portions. Using the palms of your hands, roll portions of dough and place
one dough-ball in each non-stick cavity of your Oster Tosty Arepa Maker for approxi-
mately 7 minutes. For greater flavor you can also add ground pork rinds or grated
cheese to the dough mix.
For best results, it is strongly recommended to use this appliance with
the above recipe.
“Reina Pepiada” (Chicken Filling)
Cooking Instructions:
Cut potatoes and carrots into small squares. Boil carrots and potatoes in salted
water, until fork-tender. Chop the chicken into small pieces. Mix mayonnaise, sugar,
mustard, and lemon juice. Mix with potatoes, carrots, and chicken and add peas.
Slice the avocado and fill the arepas with 2 tablespoons of filling and top with a slice
of avocado.
Ingredients: (Yield 10 Arepas)
4 Potatoes
1 Small Can of Peas
1/4 Teaspoon of Sugar
1/4 Teaspoon of Lemon Juice
2 Chicken Breasts (baked or steamed)
3 Carrots
1 1/2 Cup of Mayonnaise
1/4 Teaspoon of Mustard
1 Avocado

Cooking Instructions:
Cook the meat in salted water with a whole onion and whole red pepper. Cook until
fork-tender. Allow to cool down and separate one cup of broth. Shred meat finelty.
Lightly fry the tomatoes, onion, red pepper, sweet peppers and garlic in oil and add
shredded meat. Add the remaining condiments. Add one cup of broth and let it cook
for 10 minutes. Fill the arepas and serve.
Cooking Instructions:
In blender, blend tomatoes, onion, red pepper, sweet pepper, and garlic together
with two spoons of water. Mix with the ground meet. Add salt, Worcester sauce, and
cumin. Cook and let dry for a few minutes. Fill the arepas and serve.
Ingredients:
1 KG of Flank Meat, cut into medium
sized pieces
1 Whole Red Pepper
1 Cup of Onion, finely minced
1/4 Tablespoon of Oil
1 Teaspoon of Worcester Sauce
1 Whole Onion
2 Cups of Tomatoes, finely minced
1 Cup of Red Pepper, finely minced
3 Cloves Garlic
1 Teaspoon of Salt
1/2 Teaspoon of Pepper
1/2 Teaspoon of Cumin
Ingredients:
1 KG of Ground Beef
1 Large Onion, Chopped
2 Sweet Peppers, finely minced
1 Teaspoon of Salt
1/2 Teaspoon of Cumin
3 Tomatoes, finely diced
1 Red Pepper, finely minced
3 Cloves of Garlic
1 Teaspoon Worcester Sauce

Tuna Fish Filling
“Perico” (Egg Filling)
Cooking Instructions:
Lightly fry all vegetables, seasoning with salt, Worcester sauce and cumin. Combine
the tuna and mix with the vegetables. Simmer for 3 minutes. Fill the arepas and
serve.
Cooking Instructions:
Lightly fry the onions, add tomato and salt. Cook for 2 or 3 minutes. Separate the egg
whites and beat. Mix the egg whites with the egg yolk and combine with onions and
tomatoes. Add milk and cook. The egg should be runny. Fill the arepas and serve.
Ingredients:
1 Can of Tuna
1 Teaspoon of Salt
1/2 Teaspoon of Cumin
1/2 Cup of Mixed Onion, Red Pepper
and Tomato, finely minced
1/2 Teaspoon of Worcester Sauce
2 Teaspoons of Oil
Ingredients:
4 Eggs
1 Onion, finely minced
3 Tablespoons of Milk
3 Tomatoes, finely diced
3 Tablespoons of Oil
1 Teaspoon of Salt
