3 Safety
3.1 Staff selection
WARNING
Incorrect staff selection
Personal injury and material damage through deployment of inappropriate staff

It is critical to safety that the respective product-related tasks be carried out by the intended staff
specified in this document.

Magnetic field warning
Hazardous area 2
The closures of the shoulder straps and arm
shells contain magnets that generate a magnet
ic field. The magnets can influence the function
of cardiac pacemakers or implanted defibrillat
ors. A cardiac pacemaker can be switched to
test mode and cause illness. A defibrillator may
cease to function. Interactions with other mag
netic fields were not tested.
The following precautionary measures are
provided for this hazard:

• Instruction and training for users and quali
fied personnel
Personal safety precautions
• Wearers of such devices should maintain a
sufficient distance from the magnet. The
magnetic closure manufacturer recom
mends a minimum distance of80–100mm.
• Warn wearers of such devices against get
ting close to magnets.
3.3 General safety instructions

Interference with active implants due to the magnetic closure
Personal injury for persons with cardiac pacemakers or comparable active implants
►Make sure that the product is not used by persons with cardiac pacemakers or comparable
active implants.

Reuse on other persons and improper cleaning
Skin irritation, formation of eczema or infections due to contamination with germs
►The product may be used by one person only.
►Clean the product regularly.

Excessive strain on load-bearing components
Injuries due to changes in or loss of functionality
►Only use the product for the defined area of application.
►If the product has been exposed to extreme strain (e.g.due to falling), take any necessary
measures (e.g.repair, replacement, inspection by the manufacturer's customer service,

►When unhooking the magnetic closure, the finger has to remain hooked in the pull loop until
the magnetic closure is securely engaged in the parking position.

►Keep the product away from open flames, embers and other sources of heat.

Contact with salt water or water containing chlorine as well as abrasive substances

5 Intended use
WARNING
Improper use of the product
Death, serious injury or damage to health and to the product through improper use
►Only use the product for its intended purpose.
Product is intended exclusively for use as a means for work by adults in industrial applications. It
serves to relieve strain on the arms and shoulder girdle during overhead/above shoulder height
work and is intended exclusively for contact with intact skin.
Correct staff selection
The product may only be used by appropriately trained persons. Instruction in proper use is one
of the requirements in order to protect persons from danger and to ensure that the product is
operated safely and correctly.
• Use only by properly trained employees authorised by operator
• Use only following product training by operator
• Maintenance work only by trained, qualified personnel in accordance with the requirements
given in the respective chapters

5.1 Functionality
The product is worn similar to a backpack. The passive exoskeleton relieves strain on the arms
and shoulder girdle during overhead/above shoulder level work.
5.2 Information on re-use
The product is suitable for re-use. Products that are being re-used are subject to increased strain.
Features and functions must not change in a manner that could endanger the safety of the user or
third parties due to re-use.
The product must be thoroughly cleaned before it can be re-used. The product must then be
inspected with respect to its condition, wear and tear, and damage by authorised, qualified per
sonnel. All worn and damaged components must be replaced.
Detailed information on replacing components as well as information on the required tools and
the prescribed maintenance intervals is found in the "Maintenance" section (see Page39). Con
tact the manufacturer in case of doubt.
5.3 Service life
Service life: 10years
Wearing time: 8h per working day
The design, manufacturing and requirements for the intended use of the product are based on the
expected service life. This encompasses using the product according to its intended use and
complying with the maintenance specifications.
5.4 Restrictions for use
The product may not be used by persons:
• With cardiac pacemakers or comparable active implants
• With pre-existing conditions of the musculoskeletal system in the area of the shoulders, arms,
back and hands
• With skin diseases/injuries, inflammation or prominent scars with swelling
• With reddening and overheating in the affected areas of the body (arms, shoulders, hips and
back)
• With severe varicosis, in particular with return flow disorders or lymphatic flow disorders,
including unclear soft tissue swelling distant from the body area to which the product is
applied
• With sensory and circulatory disorders in the area of the upper limbs, hips and back (e.g.in
case of diabetic neuropathy).
5.5 Residual risks
The product may not be used in an unsuitable workplace or working environment.
Before using the product, a qualified expert has to check whether there are risks associ
ated with the workplace and/or working environment that could constitute a danger for
the user.
The following dangers exist:
• Danger of accidentally getting caught on stationary and moveable objects
• Danger of hampering evacuation (e.g.in case of fire alarm)
• Influence of the product on the functionality of personal protective equipment
6 Improper use
The product is not intended for the following prohibited uses:
• Use on more than one user, in particular:
=> Transfer to third parties without cleaning the product
=> Transfer to third parties without inspecting and reconditioning the product
=> Use by third parties without product training and instruction by qualified personnel
=> Use by third parties without user-specific product adjustment by qualified personnel

7 Transport

10.1 Installing the expanders
The two expanders are not under tension on delivery.

Take the product out of the bag.
Fold up the arm bars.
If the magnetic adjustment wheel is installed:
Remove the adjustment wheel and store it in a
safe place.

Open the joint cover.
Pull the joint cover off to the side.
Unload the joint unit and open the rotation stop.

INFORMATION:
The expanders determine the level of sup
port. We recommend that you gradually
adjust and try out the required level of sup
port with one expander. The second
expander remains in the parking position. If
the level of support needs to be higher, the
second expander can be used in addition.
• Turn the product so the side that is against
the body (the blank side of the expander
cover) faces up.
• Engage the first expander on the joint unit
from above.
•Optional: Disengage the second expander
from the parking position and engage it
across from the first expander.
Apply tension to the joint unit and close the
rotation stop.
Slide the joint cover over the joint unit.

Close the joint cover, taking care that the lace
does not get caught in the cover.
Put on the magnetic adjustment wheel.
Repeat all steps on the opposite side of the
body for the second joint unit, beginning
with one expander.
11 Initial operation
11.1 Application
►CAUTION! Deploy the following staff for this work:
User
Prerequisite: The first expander was installed by qualified personnel.

Position the product in front of the body with
the chest strap and waist strap opened for
application.
Apply the product like a backpack, putting the
arms through the shoulder straps.
Position the two shoulder straps on the
shoulders.
Close the clip fastener on the waist strap.

Pull the waist strap forward by both ends and
tighten it.
INFORMATION:
The waist strap sits above the buttocks and
at the height of the pelvis.
The strap must not slide down during use!
Optional: Reposition and tighten the belt as
needed.
Position the ends of the waist strap in the strap
holders.
Close the chest strap.
