The design team consists of David Dagault, Luc Armant, Fred Pieri, Russell Ogden, Honorin Hamard and
Sam Jobard. Dav started ying when he was 12 years old and has accumulated a wealth of experience in
competitionying,XCandparagliderdesign.Luc,adedicatedXCandcompetitionaddicthasabackground
innavalarchitecture.Fred,ourresidentgeekisamathematician,mechanicalengineerandvolBivspecialist.
Russisacompetitionpilotandtestpilotwith1000sofhourstestingexperience.WorldandEuropeanchampion
Honorinisanaturallytalentedpilotwhohasbeenyingsincehewas13yearsold.Samdesignsanddevelops
ourrange ofharnesses, hehas agreat dealofexperience bothying paraglidersand designingharnesses.

EveryoneneedsanAngel…Representingthetraditionalandprovenpulleddownapexrounddesign,theAngel
isaparachuteyoucanrelyon.
TheAngelhasarelativelylargesurfacearea,yetisverylightinweight,givingexceptionalsinkrateandstability
performancewithfastopeningtimes.Thelargesurfaceareaensuresanexcellentsinkrate,allsizesoftheAngel
provideplentyofmarginwithintheweightrangestheyarecertiedtocarry.
TheAngelusespremiumqualitymaterialschosenfortheiroptimumbalanceofdurability,performance,minimal
packingvolumesandlowweighttoensurereliable,safedeployments,eveninthemostextremesituations.
CertiedENandLTFtotheEN12491andLTF91/09standards,theAngelisavailablewithmaximumloadsfrom
90kgsto140kgs.Thereare2bridleoptions:Theshortbridleversionforharnesseswithintegratedbridlesand
theYbridleversionforharnesseswithnobuiltinbridles.
Thev2versionsharesexactlythesamedesignastheoriginalbutwithmaterialchangesandotherminordetail
modicationstomakethepackingprocesseasier.
TheAngelhasbeensolelydesignedforuseasanemergencyrescuesystemforparagliders.Donotunderany
circumstancesusethisparachuteforfreefallparachuting,BASEjumpingorwithanyothertypeofaircraft.
TheAngelisnotsuitableforspeedsinexcessof32m/sor115kmh.

INSTALLATION TO THE HARNESS

TheAngelisavailablewith2bridleoptions:ShortbridleorYbridle.
Theshortbridleoptionisforharnessesthatalreadyhavereservebridlesinplace.Attachtheparachutebridleto
theharnessbridlesusingaMaillonRapide7mmscrewgatemaillonorsimilar.
ThelongYbridleoptionisforharnessesthatdonothavebridlesalreadyinstalled.Theattachmentpointsshould
beattacheddirectlytotheshoulderconnectionpointsusing2x6mmscrewgatestainlesssteelmaillons(onefor
eachside)alongwithrubberbandsortapetosecurethebridlesneatly.YoumustNOTattachalongYbridleto
anyexistingharnessbridles.Ifyourharnessalreadyhasbridlesattachedtotheshoulderhangpoints,youMUST
usetheshortbridleoption.OnlyattachtheYbridletotheloopslocatedontopoftheshoulderstrapswhichhave
beenspecicallydesignedformountingtherescuesystem.
Maillonsmustbeclosedtightly-ngertightthen1/2aturnwithpliersissufcient.Donotovertighten.
Attachthereservehandletooneoftheloopsonthedeploymentbagusingasmallmaillonoralarksfootknot.
Pleaserefertoyourharnessmanualtoensurethecorrectorientation.
TheAngelisnowreadytobeinstalledintothedeploymentsystemofyourharness.Fordetailedinstructionsof
ttingtheAngelintothedeploymentsystempleaseconsultyourharnessmanual.
IMPORTANT:
You MUST NOT
attach the long Y
bridle to existing
harness bridle(s),
if this is the case,
you must use
the short bridle
option.

Ifyouareintheunfortunatesituationofneedingtothrowyourreserve,dosowithconviction:
Look;Reach;Pull;Throw.
Lookatthehandle,grabitandpullouttheretainingpinswithsufcientforce.
Pulloutthedeployment bag.You needto adaptthe wayyou pullyour parachutedepending onthe designof your
harness’sdeploymentsystem.e.g.underseatpositioningoftenrequiresanactiontotheoutsidesothattheparachute
extracts sideways from the pocket, pulling the handle upwards will not allow the parachute to release. Know your
equipmentandadaptyourtechniqueaccordingly.
Throwtheparachuteawayfromyouashardasyoucanintoclearspace,nottowardsyourwing.Itisimportantatthis
stagetoremembertoLETGOofthehandle.Aimtothrowwiththedirectionofairowtoaidafastopeningandagainst
thedirectionofrotation.
Ifafter throwingthe parachute doesnot deploy (possiblein lowenergyemergencies e.g.parachutalstall), grabthe
reservebridleandgiveitastrongpull.Thiswillhelpencouragetheparachutetoopenfaster.
Astheparachutedeploys,thenextstageistoconcentrateondisablingtheparaglider.Thereareseveralwaystodo
this–Blinestall;rearriserstall;gatheringthecanopybyworkinguptheAlinesuntilyouhavethematerialinyourhands
orusingthebrakestostallthewing.Thebesttechniquedependsentirelyonthesituation.Themostimportantthing
torememberistocompletelydisablethewingsothatitdoesnotactagainsttheparachuteandcauseadown-plane.
Whichevermethodyouchoosedososymmetrically,youdonotwanttheparaglidertostartrotating,thiscouldcause
theparaglidertoyintoandeffectivelydisabletheparachute.
Due to the position of the reserve bridle hang points on most harness, deploying the reserve parachute tends to
automaticallyputyouintothePLFposition(legsdown),ifyouarenot,doeverythingyoucantogetyourselfintothis
positionsoyoucanabsorbthelandingimpactwithyourlegs.
AlwaysuseaPLFwhenlandingunderemergencysituationsorunderarescueparachute.

NOTE:
The following
example
shows the
Angel v1
140 with 20
gores being
repacked.
The 90/95
and 110 have
18 gores
therefore
the indicated
numbers will
be different.
v2 Angels
only have the
centre panel

Yourparachuteshouldberepacked every 6 months,preferablybyaqualiedprofessionaltoensurebestoperation
andtogiveyoupeaceofmind.Whenremovingtheparachutefromtheharnesstaketheopportunitytocomplete
apracticedeployment.Checkthatyoucanreachyourhandleeasilyandthattheparachutecanexittheharness
smoothly,freeofanyresistance,Certicationrequiresaneffortoflessthan7kgs.
Beforerepacking,theparachuteshouldhaveathoroughvisualcheckofthecloth,linesandbridles.Donotusea
parachutewithanysignofvisibledamage.Theparachutemustbecompletelydryandfreeofdirt,dustoranyother
contaminates.
Packing Procedure
Completelyunfurltheparachute,ideallyitshouldbehungovernighttoreleasethefoldsandtoairthematerial.
Toeasethepackingprocessitisbesttoworkwithanassistantandhavethefollowingpiecesofequipment:
weightssuchassandbags;linespacers;carabiners;spareelasticbands.
Laytheparachuteonapackingtableorontheground.Makesurethesurfaceiscleananddry.
Pull out the apex completely and pull all of the lines and panels under
tensionsothattherearenomajorfoldsinthecanopy.Attachtheapexto
somethingsolidusingacarabinerandcheckthatthelinesattheapexare
ofequallengths.

andthelineseithersideseparated.Doublecheckthatnoneofthe
linesaretwistedaroundthe‘apex’linesoreachother.
Organisethegoresbyfoldingeachoneindividuallyovertooneside,counting
asyougo.TheAngel90/95/110have18goresandtheAngel140has20.The
goresarenumberedinredandblackattheskirtoftheparachuteneartothe
lineattachmentpoints.Sorttheparachutesothathalfofthegoresaretoeach
sideofthedoubleapexlineswithgorenumber1andeither18(90/95/110)or
20(140)clearlyidentiedontop.
Please note the v2 has coloured tabs on the lines to

using ‘S’ folds to approximately the width of the

Place the deployment bag under the skirt and fold
theparachuteinanaccordionfashiontothesizeand
shapeofthedeploymentbag.
Before closing the pod, we recommend to turn the
parachute over so that the skirt is uppermost and
closest to the clover leaves. Close the deployment
bagaroundtheparachute,neatentheedgestoensure
thattheparachuteiscontainedcompletelywithin.Use
theremainingfreelineto securethemainloopofthe
deploymentbag.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Yourparchuteisrelativelymaintenance-free,howeverthereareseveralpracticesthatneedtobeadheredto:
•KeepyourparachutefreefromexposuretoUV,moisture,dirt,dust,chemicalsoranyothercontaminates.
•Alwaysstoreallofyouryingequipmentinacooldryroomandprotectitfromdirectheatsuchasradiators
orsunlight.
•Moisture,heatandhumidityaretheworstelementsfordamagingyourparachute.
•Yourparachuteshouldbere-packed,preferably byaqualiedpacker every6months.Themoreoftenthe
reserveisrepackedthebetterthechancesofitopeningquickly.
•Line lengths should be checked annually by a qualied checker, or after anytime the parachute has been
exposedtoexcessivemoistureorhasbecomewetafterawaterlanding.
•Ifyoulandinsaltwater,youmustimmediatelyrinsetheparachuteandlinesthoroughlywithfreshwaterbefore
itisallowedto dry.It isof vitalimportance toremove alltraces ofsalt beforedrying otherwisepermanent
damagemayoccur.Itmaytakeseveralrinsestocompletelyremovealltracesofsalt.Ifthereareanyvisible
signsofdamagetotheclothorevidenceofsaltcrystals,theparachuteshouldbedeemedun-airworthyand
withdrawnfromservice.
•Completelyairdryyourparachuteoutofsunlightorothersourcesofdirectheat.Failuretodosocanresultin
unevendryingofclothandlines.Yourparachutemustbeabsolutelydrybeforerepacking.
•Theparachuteshouldbedecommissionedafter10years,evenifithasneverbeenthrown.
•The parachute should be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Do not dispose with normal
householdwaste.
WARNING: After a salt water landing, if there are any visible signs of damage to the cloth or
evidence of salt crystals, the parachute should be deemed un-airworthy and withdrawn from service.
WARNING: The parachute should be decommissioned after 10 years from the date of purchase even if
it has never been thrown.
