Important Note for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
From Massachusetts Rules and Regulations 248 CMR 5.08:
(a) For all side wall horizontally vented gas fueled equipment installed in every dwelling, building or structure used in whole or in part for residential
purposes, including those owned or operated by the Commonwealth and where the side wall exhaust vent termination is less than seven (7) feet
above nished grade in the area of the venting, including but not limited to decks and porches, the following requirements shall be satised.
1. INSTALLATION OF CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS. At the time of installation of the side wall horizontal vented gas fueled equipment, the
installing plumber or gas tter shall observe that a hard wired carbon monoxide detector with an alarm and battery back-up is installed on the oor
level where the gas equipment is to be installed, in addition, the installing plumber or gas tter shall observe that a battery operated or hard-wired
carbon monoxide detector with an alarm is installed on each additional level of the dwelling, building or structure served by the side wall horizontal
vented gas fueled equipment. It shall be the responsibility of the property owner to secure the services of qualied licensed professionals for the
installation of hard-wired carbon monoxide detectors.
a. In the event that the side wall horizontally vented gas fueled equipment is installed in a crawl space or an attic, the hard-wired carbon monoxide
detector with alarm and battery back-up may be installed on the next adjacent oor level.
b. In the event that the requirements of this subdivision cannot be met at the time of completion of installation, the owner shall have a period of thirty
(30) days to comply with the above requirements; provided, however, that during said thirty (30) day period, a battery operated carbon monoxide
detector with an alarm shall be installed.
2. APPROVED CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS. Each carbon monoxide detector as required in accordance with the above provisions shall
comply with NFPA 720 and be ANSI/UL 2034 listed as IAS certied.
3. SIGNAGE. A metal or plastic identication plate shall be permanently mounted to the exterior of the building at a minimum height of eight (8) feet
above grade directly in line with the exhaust vent terminal for the horizontally vented gas fueled heating appliance or equipment. The sign shall
read, in print size no less than one-half (1/2) inch in size, “GAS VENT DIRECTLY BELOW. KEEP CLEAR OF ALL OBSTRUCTIONS”.
4. INSPECTION. The state or local gas inspector of the side wall horizontally vented gas fueled equipment shall not approve the installation unless,
upon inspection, the inspector observes carbon monoxide detectors and signage installed in accordance with the provisions of 248 CMR 5.089(2)
(a) 1 through 4.
(b) EXEMPTIONS. The following equipment is exempt from 248 CMR 5.089(2)(a) 1 through 4.
1. The equipment listed in Chapter 10 entitled “Equipment Not Required To Be Vented” in the most current edition of NFPA 54 as adopted by the
Board; and
2. Product Approved side wall horizontal vented gas fueled equipment installed in a room or structure separate from the dwelling, building or structure
used in whole or in part for residential purposes.
(c) MANUFACTURER REQUIREMENTS – GAS EQUIPMENT VENTING SYSTEM PROVIDED. When the manufacturer of Product Approved side wall
horizontally vented gas equipment provides a venting system design or venting system components with the equipment, the instructions provided
by the manufacturer for installation of the equipment and the venting system shall include:
1. Detailed instructions for the installation of the venting system design or the venting system components; and
2. A complete parts list for the venting system design or venting system.
(d) MANUFACTURER REQUIREMENTS – GAS EQUIPMENT VENTING SYSTEM NOT PROVIDED. When the manufacturer of a Product Approved
side wall horizontally vented gas fueled equipment does not provide the parts for venting the fuel gases, but identies “special venting systems”, the
following requirements shall be satised by the manufacturer.
1. The referenced “special venting system” instructions shall be included with the appliance or equipment installation instructions; and
2. The “special venting systems” shall be Product Approved by the Board, and the instructions for that system shall include a parts list and detailed
installation instructions.
(e) A copy of all installation instructions for all Product Approved side wall horizontally vented gas fueled equipment, all venting instructions, all parts
lists for venting instructions, and/or all venting design instructions shall remain with the appliance or equipment at the completion of the installation.

Caution
This fireplace is equipped with a micro mesh safety screen for your protection and
must be installed with the unit. Removal of the safety screen will cause the fireplace
to become a burn and fire hazard.
FOR YOUR SAFETY - Do not install or operate your Pacic Energy replace without rst reading
and understanding this manual. Any installation or operational deviation from the following
instructions voids the Pacic Energy Warranty and may prove hazardous.
This appliance and its individual shut off valve must be disconnected from gas supply piping system
during any pressure testing of that system at test pressures in excess of 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa).
This appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual
shut off valve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to
or greater than 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa).
Do not use the replace if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualied service
technician to inspect the replace and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control
which has been under water.

Safety
• Due to high temperatures, this gas appliance should be located out of trafc and away from
furniture and draperies.
• Children and adults should be alerted to the hazards of high surface temperatures and should
stay away to avoid burns or clothing ignition.
• Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the same room as the appliance.
Toddlers, young children and others may be susceptible to accidental contact burns. A physical
barrier is recommended if there are at risk individuals in the house. To restrict access to a
replace or stove, install an adjustable safety gate to keep toddlers, young children and other at
risk individuals out of the room and away from hot surfaces.
• Clothing or other ammable material should not be placed on or near the appliance.
• A barrier designed to reduce the risk of burns from the hot viewing glass is provided with the
replace and shall be installed.
• If the barrier becomes damaged, the barrier shall be replaced with the manufacturers barrier
for this appliance.
• Any grill, panel or door removed for servicing the unit must be replaced prior to operating.
• Installation and repair should be done by a qualied service person. The appliance should be
inspected before use and at least annually by a professional service person. More frequent
cleaning may be required due to excessive lint from carpeting, bedding material, etc. It is
imperative that control compartments, burners and circulating air passageways of the appliance
be kept clean.
• This appliance must not be connected to a chimney ue serving a separate solid fuel burning
appliance.
• It is our policy that no responsibility is assumed by the Company or by any of its employees or
representatives for any damages caused by an inoperable, inadequate, or unsafe condition which
is the result, either directly or indirectly, of any improper operation or installation procedures.

The manual contains important information on the unit’s safe operation and maintenance.
First Fire
When lit for the rst time, the replace will emit a slight odour for a couple of hours. This is due
to the curing of paints, sealants, gaskets, and lubricants used in the manufacturing process. This
condition is temporary. Open doors and windows to ventilate the area. Odour caused by the
curing process may cause discomfort to some individuals.
It is normal for replaces fabricated from steel to give off some expansion and/or contraction
noises during the start up or cool down cycle. Similar noises are found with your furnace heat
exchanger or cook stove oven.

System Description
The Proame 2 Remote Control System consists of two elements:
1. Proame2 Transmitter.
2. Proame2 Integrated Fireplace Control (IFC) board and a wiring harness to connect the IFC to
the gas valve and stepper motor.
Transmitter (Remote Control with LCD Display)
The Proame 2 Transmitter uses a streamline design with a simple button layout and informative
LCD display Figure 1. The transmitter is powered by 3 AAA type batteries. A Mode key is provided
to Index between the features and a Thermostat key is used to turn on/off or index through
thermostat functions (Figure 1) and (Figure 2).

IFC Module
The Proflame 2 Integrated Fireplace Control (IFC) module (Figure 3) is a device that allows automatic
ignition and pilot flame supervision, and commands the functions of the hearth Fireplace. It’s
configured to control the ON/OFF main burner operation, giving the choice of both IPI (intermittent
pilot ignition), and CPI (continuous pilot ignition) modes. The Proflame2 IFC module controls and
connects directly to the pilot assembly and the automatic valve using low electric power.
The IFC module can be powered by both an AC power supply, and battery pack for back up. The
Proflame 2 offers the added ability to control the comfort fan speed from OFF through six (6)
speeds, a remotely actuated auxiliary outlet and a dim-able light outlet. The external batteries can
provide DC power to the IFC allowing the batteries to be used only when line power is interrupted or
lost, and if the Fireplace does not use a combustion fan.
Operating Procedure
Initializing the System for the first time
1. Install 4 AA batteries into the battery holder (Figure 4) located behind the Screen/Surround, below
the rebox. Make sure that the selection switch is on the “Remote” setting.
2. Install 3 AAA batteries into the Proame2 Remote Transmitter (Figure 1).
3. Make sure there is power to the unit and open the gas supply line.
4. Locate the button marked “PRG” (Program) on the ON/OFF switch (Figure 4)and press the
program button once. The module will beep 3 times indicating that it is ready to synchronize with
a remote transmitter.
5. On the remote transmitter, push the power on button once. The remote transmitter will beep
4 times to indicate that the remote transmitter and the control module are now synchronized.
The remote transmitter is now ready to use.

Temperature indication Display
With the system in the “OFF” position, press the Thermostat Key
and the Mode Key at the same time. Look at the LCD screen on the
transmitter to verify that a C or F is visible to the right of the Room
Temperature display (Figure 5 or Figure 6).
Turn on the Fireplace
With the system OFF, press the ON/OFF Key on the remote
transmitter. The remote transmitter display will show some other
active Icons on the screen. At the same time the Receiver will
activate the Heater. A single “beep” from the Receiver (module) will
conrm reception of the command.
Turn off the Fireplace
With the system ON, press the ON/OFF Key on the Remote
transmitter. The Remote transmitter LCD display will only show the
room temperature. At the same time the Receiver (module) will turn
off the Heater. A single “beep” from the Receiver conrms reception
of the command.
Manual Bypass of the Remote System
If the batteries of the receiver or remote transmitter are low or
depleted, the Heater can be turned off manually using ON/OFF
switch located on battery box at the Lower Front. This will bypass
the remote transmitter.
Key Lock
This function will lock the keys to avoid unsupervised operation.
To activate this function, press the MODE and UP keys at the
same time. The lock icon will appear (Figure 7). To de-activate this
function, press the MODE and UP keys at the same time.

Remote Flame Control
The Proame2 has six (6) ame levels. With the system turned
on, and the ame level at maximum in the Fireplace, press
the down arrow key once to reduce the ame height by one
step until the ame is turned off.
The up arrow key will increase the ame height each time it
is pressed. If the up arrow key is pressed while the system
is on but the ame is off, the ame will come on in the high
position (Figure 8). A single “beep” will conrm reception of
the command.
ROOM THERMOSTAT (Transmitter Operation)
The remote control can operate as a room thermostat. The
thermostat can be set to a desired temperature to control the
comfort level in a room.
To activate this function, press the thermostat key (Figure 1).
The LCD display on the remote transmitter will change to show
that the room thermostat is “ON” and the set temperature is
now displayed (Figure 9). To adjust the set point, press the up
or down arrow keys until the desired set point temperature is
displayed on the LCD screen of the remote transmitter.
Smart Thermostat (Transmitter Operation)
The Smart Thermostat function adjusts the ame height in
accordance to the difference between the set point and the
room temperatures. As the room temperature gets closer
to the set point, the Smart Function will modulate the ame
down. If the room temperature is cool the Smart function will
modulate the ame up.
To activate this function, press the THERMOSTAT key
(Figure 1) until the word “SMART” appears to the right of the
temperature bulb graphic (Figure 10). To adjust the set point,
press the up or down arrow keys until the desired set point
temperature is displayed on the LCD screen of the remote
transmitter (Figure 11).

Comfort Fan Speed Control
If the replace is equipped with a hot air
circulating fan, the speed of the fan can be
controlled by the Proame system. The fan
speed can be adjusted through six (6) speeds.
To activate this function use the Mode Key
(Figure 1) to index to the fan control icon (Figure
12). Use the Up/Down Arrow Keys (Figure 1) to
turn on, off or adjust the fan speed (Figure 12).
A single “beep” will conrm reception of the
command.
Continuous Pilot/Intermittent Pilot (CPI/IPI)
selection
With the system in “OFF” position press the
Mode Key (Figure 1) to index to the CPI mode
icon (Figure 15). Pressing the Up Arrow Key
will activate the Continuous Pilot Ignition
mode (CPI). Pressing the Down Arrow Key will
return to IPI. A single “beep” will conrm the
reception of the command.
Accent Lights Control
This replace is equipped with an overhead
accent light. The auxiliary function controls this
Accent Light.
To activate this function, use the Mode Key,
(Figure 1) to index to the AUX icon (Figure 13).
Pressing the Up Arrow Key will turn the light on.
Pressing the Down Arrow Key will turn the light
off (Figure 14). A single “beep” will conrm the
reception of the command.

WARNING

The Receiver causes ignition of the appliance. The appliance can turn on suddenly. Keep
away from the appliance burner when operating the remote system or activating manual
bypass of the remote system.

This device is powered by line voltage. Do not try to repair this device. In no way is
the enclosure to be tampered with or opened. Disconnect from line voltage before
performing any maintenance.
LOW BATTERY POWER DETECTION
Transmitter
The life span of the remote control batteries depends on various factors:
quality of the batteries used, the number of ignitions of the appliance,
the number of changes to the room thermostat set point, etc.
When the Transmitter batteries are low, a Battery Icon will appear on the
LCD display of the Transmitter (Figure 16) before all battery power is lost.
When the batteries are replaced this Icon will disappear.
Receiver
The life span of the IFC batteries depends on various factors: quality of
the batteries used, the number of ignitions of the appliance and the number of changes to the room
thermostat set point, etc. When the IFC batteries are low, a “double-beep” will be emitted from
the IFC board when it receives a command from the transmitter. This is an alert for a low battery
condition for the IFC board. When the batteries are replaced the “beep” will be emitted from the IFC
board when a key is pressed. See “Initializing the System for the rst time” on page 8.

Turn off gas and electrical power supply (if applicable) and allow ample time for unit to cool before
servicing appliance. It is recommended that the replace and its venting should be inspected at
least once a year by a qualied service person.
Glass Door:
Warning: Do not operate replace with glass door removed, cracked or broken. Replacement of
the glass door should be done by a licensed or qualied service person. Check glass panel gasket,
replace if necessary. It is important that the glass seal be maintained in good condition.
Do not strike or otherwise impact the glass in any way that may cause it to break. If the glass
becomes cracked or broken it must be replaced before using the replace. Replacement door
can be obtained from your nearest Pacic Energy dealer. Do not substitute with any other type. To
remove broken glass, remove Door as noted in “Door Removal” section.
Annual Inspection:
a) Remove glass door and decorative media (such as Glass, logs and Embers). Inspect decorative
media and burner assemblies for soot buildup. If excessive buildup of soot is present, have a
qualied service person inspect and adjust unit for proper combustion. Clean burner with a brush
or vacuum cleaner, paying close attention to burner ports.
b) Check the pilot system for proper ame size and operation. Clean pilot free of soot,
dust or any other deposits.
c) Check that the vent pipe and vent terminal are open and free from blockage or debris. If the
venting is disassembled for cleaning, it must be properly assembled and re-sealed. Refer to
VENTING section for proper procedure.
d) Check and replace batteries as needed.
Note: The appliance area must be kept clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline and
other ammable vapors and liquids.
Periodically:
a) Viewing glass may be cleaned as necessary with
glass cleaner. For touch stains use a replace (ceramic) glass cleaner.
b) Exterior nish may be cleaned with mild soap and
water.
CAUTION: Do not use abrasive cleaners on glass or any other part of the replace.
Do not clean glass when hot.

Lighting Instructions
FOR YOUR SAFETY READ BEFORE LIGHTING
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
TO TURN OFF GAS APPLIANCE
WARNING:
If you do not follow these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal
injury, or loss of life.
A. This appliance is equipped with an ignition device which
automatically lights the pilot. Do not try to light the pilot by hand.
B. BEFORE LIGHTING smell all around the appliance area for gas.
Be sure to smell next to the floor because some gas is heavier
than air and will settle on the floor.
C. Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water.
Immediately call a qualified service technician to inspect the
appliance & to replace any part of the control system & any gas
control which has been under water.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS:
- Do not try to light any appliance.
- Do not touch any electric switch; do not use any phone in your
building.
- Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbour's phone. Follow
the gas supplier's instructions.
- If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.
1. STOP! Read the safety information above on this label.
2. This appliance is equipped with an ignition device which
automatically lights the pilot. Do not try to light the pilot by hand.
3. Push the "On/ Off" Button on the Remote, to turn the fireplace ON.
- If the burner does light go to step 6.
- If the burner does notlight, complete steps 4 through 5.
- If the burner will not light or stay lit after several tries, push the
"On/ Off" Button on the Remote, to turn the fireplace to OFF, turn
off all electric power to the fireplace and call your service
technician or gas supplier.
Note: Sufficient time must be allowed for air to escape from lines if
the unit is being lit for the first time.
4. Push the "On/ Off" Button on the Remote, to turn the fireplace Off.
5. Allow sufficient length of time (minimum 5 minutes) for any gas in the
combustion chamber to escape. If you still smell gas, STOP! Follow
"B" in the safety information above on this label. If you do not smell
gas, go to step 3.
6. Set fireplace to desired setting by using handheld remote.
1.
Push the "on/ off" Button on the Remote to the "Off"
position.
2. Turn off all electric power to the appliance and remove backup
batteries if service is to be performed or for extended shutdown.
Due to high surface temperatures, keep children, clothing and furniture away. Keep burner and control compartment clean. See installation and
operating instructions accompanying the appliance.

Fireplace Dimensions

Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, or the National Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA
B149.1

Locating the Fireplace
In planning the installation for the replace, it is necessary to determine where the unit is to
be installed, location of vent system and where gas supply piping may be plumbed. Various
installations are possible, such as, into an existing wall, a corner, a built in wall or a wall projection.
Due to high temperatures, do not locate this replace in areas of high trafc or near furniture or
draperies. The replace should be accessible for service

Top to Rear Vent Conversion
• To convert the vent from top to rear outlet, remove the outer collar by removing the 5 Torx T20
screws (Figure 20).
• Remove the 5 screws holding the cover plate (Figure 21)

• Remove the screws holding the ue to the unit (Figure 22).
• Carefully remove the ue and the gasket. Rotate the ue to point out the rear of the replace
(Figure 23). After ensuring the gasket is in place install and tighten the screws.

• Re-install the Cover Plate with the solid gasket on the top of the unit.
• Place the outer collar and gasket around the ue, centering it then re-install the screws (Figure
24).

Framing and Finishing
Notes:
We recommend that the replace should be in place and venting installed before framing in or
building an enclosure around the unit.
The Z25 replace must be framed in as described in the following section or totally enclosed with
non-combustible material, such as facing brick.
The sides, back and top of the replace can be framed in using conventional lumber. Consult local
building codes for specic requirements.
A header using 2 x 4’s must be installed on top of the steel framing kit, so that the front edge of the
header is ush with the steel framing kit (Figure 30).
The finishing material must not interfere with glass door and safety screen removal.
Due to high temperatures, non-combustible material board, such as cement board or its equivalent,
must be used to sheet in above the replace. The top of the non-combustible board must extend
a minimum of 21-5/8” [55cm] above the replace opening or level with the top of the steel framing
kit- (Figure 25 on page 20). The non-combustible board can continue past this point if desired.
Standard sheet rock (dry wall) may be used up to the sides of the replace opening.
It is recommended that the top section of the non-combustible board be a single sheet. Taped and
mudded joints may crack due to the elevated temperatures.
Chase Insulation: When installing this replace against a non-insulated exterior, wall or chase, it is
recommended that the outer walls be insulated to same degree as other exterior walls. Do not place
the replace directly against the insulation or vapor barrier. Cover the insulation and plastic vapor
barrier with a solid surface, such as dry wall (sheet rock). Consult local codes. Do not insulate the
front of the chase between the top of the replace and the top of the supplied steel studs.
