Thank you for choosing a product from the Philips range. Please read
the instructions carefully before using the appliance for the first time.
Important
◗Please note that some condensation may occur on the
base of your kettle. This is perfectly normal and by no
means a manufacturing defect.
◗Depending on the hardness of the water in your area,
small spots may appear on the heating element of your
kettle (even if you have used it only once). This
phenomenon is the result of scale build-up and is perfectly
normal.Scale consists of naturally occurring minerals that
solidify when water is heated and which slowly deposit
over a period of time. This can lead to scale build-up on
the heating element and on the inside of the kettle over
time. The harder the water, the faster scale will build up.
Scale can occur in different colours.Although it may look
like rust,it is not because this kettle has a stainless steel
element.Although scale is perfectly harmless,it can affect
the performance of your kettle if it is left to build up over
a longer period of time. Please follow the instructions for
descaling the kettle in this instruction booklet.
◗Boiling water can cause serious burns. Please take care when the
kettle contains hot water.
◗Keep the kettle and its cord well out of the reach of children and
do not let them play with the appliance.Prevent children from
pulling at the mains cord.Do not let the mains cord hang over the
edge of the work surface.
◗Do not fill the kettle beyond the 'MAX' indication.
◗WARNING:If the kettle has been overfilled, there is a risk that
boiling water will be ejected from the spout.
◗This Philips kettle is equipped with a precision boil-control system
that will switch the kettle off immediately after the water has
reached boiling point.
For type HD4673 only
◗This Philips rapid boil kettle can draw up to 13Amps from your
power supply.Ensure that your household electrical system can
withstand this consumption.
◗We advise you to refrain from running too many other appliances
connected to the same circuit while your kettle is in use.
ENGLISH4
Using the kettle
C1Wind excess mains cord around the base of the appliance.
2Put the base with the kettle on a cool, flat surface, out of the
reach of children and put the plug in the wall socket.
Only use the kettle in combination with its original base.
3Take the kettle off its base.
C4Fill the kettle with water through the spout.
Never fill the kettle while it is standing on its base.
C◗You can also open the lid to fill the kettle.
Do not put less than 0.1 litre of water in the kettle.
- If the kettle boils dry,it will switch off automatically but the On/Off
switch will stay in the "I" position. After 10 minutes the kettle must be
lifted off the base to reset its dry-boil protection, you can use the
kettle again.
Do not fill the kettle beyond the 'MAX' indication.
- If too much water has been put in the kettle, boiling water may be
ejected from the spout.
5Close the lid and put the kettle on its base.
Make sure the lid is properly closed, otherwise the kettle will boil dry.
C6Set the On/Off switch to position "I".
The kettle starts heating up.
7The appliance switches off automatically when the water has
reached the boiling point.
The On/Off switch returns to the "O" position.
8You can interrupt the boiling process by setting the On/Off
switch to "O".

Cleaning the scale filter
Scale is not harmful to your health but it may give your drink a
powdery taste. The scale filter prevents scale particles from ending up
in your drink.Clean the filter regularly.
C1Remove the filter.
C2Clean the filter under a running tap while gently brushing the
filter with a soft nylon brush.
C3Put the filter back into the appliance.
Descaling
