Quick Start Guide for the
Polycom SoundStation IP 6000
Conference Phone For OfficeSuite®
Welcome to OfficeS ite®. These easy-to- se instr ctions will g ide yo thro gh the
installation of the Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Conference Phone(s) for yo r OfficeS ite
system.

• Ens re yo have the correct parts.
o Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Conference Phone
o Ethernet Cable
o Power Interface Cable
o Power Adaptor
 See step 1. Power Interface Cable and Power Adaptor are not needed if
yo are connecting to a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch.
o Optional Accessories
 External Microphones (sold as a pair)
• Ens re there is a spare port on yo r local area network (LAN) switch.
•
Ens re yo have an extension created for this device. Go to ‘‘Users and Locations’’ within
the OfficeS ite® web site to add a User if one has not already been created. Assign a DID
(direct phone n mber) to this ser / extension.
• Ens re yo have the p blic IP address for the location where this device will be
installed and have conveyed it to yo r Broadview project manager. Yo r project
manager will provide yo the IP Address of the OfficeS ite Gateway, record it below.
(IP Address of OS Gateway (MBG) server ________________________________)
• Yo will need a PC or laptop to install this device, b t no other special tools.

Making the physical Connection to t h e Polycom So ndStation
IP 6000 Phone
To install the Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Phone pl g one
end of the network cable into the network port on the bottom
of the Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Phone:
1. I f P o E pl g the other end of the network cable into yo r data
port with PoE
If no PoE, then yo ’ll need a 120 VAC power so rce
a. Connect the Ethernet Cable into the Network Port on the
nit
b. Connect the other end of the Network Cable to the Power
Interface Cable
c. Connect the Power Interface Cable to a LAN port
d. Connect the Power Adapter to the Power Insertion Cable
e. Connect the other end of the Power Adapter into a wall
o tlet
2. If yo have opted for the external microphones (pair) pl g them
into the Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Phone into the
remaining two ports

Become familiar with the phone
Config ring t h e Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Conference Phone
Pre-installation
1. Ens re an OS ext. # is assigned to this device and yo know the PIN/password
2. Ens re a DID is assigned to the extension
3. Select ‘‘Cannot be dialed’’ when setting Access from A to-Attendant preference
4. If yo r OfficeS ite service is OfficeS ite FlexConnect, FlexConnect Small Office, or OfficeS ite
Nationwide via DIA contin e with section A. below.
5. If yo r service is OfficeS ite On-net or OfficeS ite Nationwide via MPLS skip to section B.
below.
A. If yo connect to OfficeS ite via the P blic Internet
To man ally config re the Polycom with a static IP address and s bnet mask, follow these steps:
1. Pl g Polycom into LAN (PoE or Power brick where needed)
2. Pl g Laptop into same LAN as Polycom
3. Obtain and record:
a. Single Static IP Address for this device (IP Address: ______________________)
b. S bnet Mask (S bnet Mask: ______________________)
c. Defa lt Gateway (Gateway: _______________________)
4. In order to do so complete the following:
a. On PC Open p cmd prompt (Windows XP - start, r n, cmd; Windows 7 --- start,
type in cmd; Windows 8 --- go to task men , right click, select show all items,

chose command prompt tile; Apple MAC --- Google for yo r OSxx in order to
obtain address information)
b. Type ipconfig --- press enter
c. It will give yo the range of addresses (based on s bnet mask), s bnet mask and
defa lt gateway.
d. Once yo have done this, if yo have an assigned pool of available static IP
addresses, se one of these
e. If not (more likely scenario) pick an address at the back end of the range.
f. Ping this address.
g. If yo can reach it --- it is in se and yo ’ll need to pick another.
h. If it times o t yo sho ld be able to se it for the Polycom 6000 phone.
5. Cycle the power on the OfficeS ite Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Conference Phone
6. Set p (press immediately when powering p)
7. Enter password (456)
8. Hit Ok / Select
9. DHCP client
10. Disabled / Select / Select
11. Enter OfficeS ite So ndStation IP 6000 Conference Phone IP address ( se * for . dot) (from
item 3a above) / Select / Select
12. Enter S bnet Mask (from item 3b above) / Select / Select
13. Enter IP Gateway (Defa lt Gateway) (from item 3c above) / OK
14. Enter Exit
15. Save and Reboot / Select
16. Phone will now reboot
B. If yo connect to OfficeS ite via a Private IP MPLS Connection
1. Pl g Laptop into same LAN as OfficeS ite Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Conference Phone
2. Have the static IP address of the site handy (this will be Broadview-provided)
3. On OfficeS ite Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Conference Phone select ‘‘Set p’’ when
powering on the phone.
• Enter password (456)
• Hit Ok
• DHCP client
• Enabled
• Enter defa lt gateway (static IP)
• Enter Exit
• Select / Save and Reboot
Once the phone reboots, select ‘‘Men ’’
a. Stat s / Select
b. Network / Select
c. TCP/IP select (this will display the IP address for the OfficeS ite Polycom
So ndStation IP 6000 Conference Phone --- write it down for the next step)

Configure the Po ycom 6000 Conference IP Phone via web configurator
• Open a web browser window from a comp ter connected to the same local area network as
the OfficeS ite Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Conference Phone.
• Type in the IP Address from the OfficeS ite Polycom So ndStation IP 6000 Conference
Phone (If static it is the one yo assigned in step A.3.a. If DHCP it is the one yo retrieved
from step B.3.c)
• Hit enter
• When prompted, enter ser name ‘‘Polycom’’
• Enter Password ‘‘456’’
• Once the Polycom User Interface appears select ‘‘Line’’
o Identification
 Display Name --- User name as per OfficeS ite web site when created
 Address --- type in OfficeS ite ext.
 A th User ID --- type in OfficeS ite ext.
 A th password --- type in OfficeS ite password for that ext.
 Label --- enter the extension and/or the DID for the extension
o Server 1
 Address (type in address to MBG --- Sil dependent)
 Port --- type in 5060
 Transport --- UDP only
 Scroll to bottom hit s bmit
 Wait for phone to reboot
• Select SIP
o Server 1
 Address (type in address to MBG --- from pre-installation check list)
 Port --- type in 5060
 Transport --- UDP only
o Local Settings
 Digitmap --- type in x.T|x.#
 Digit Timeo t --- type in 3
 Scroll to bottom hit s bmit
 Wait for phone to reboot
• Select General
o Select A dio Processing
 Codec Preferences
• Select G.711M as 1
• Select G.729AB as 2
• Select the remaining Codecs as Not Used
 Scroll to bottom hit s bmit
 Wait for phone to reboot
• Select General --- again
o Select Time
 SNTP (64.90.182.55 OR 129.6.15.30)

Going back into the web config rator post installation:
If yo need to go back into the web config rator after the initial installation yo will need the IP
address of the Polycom device. We recommend that yo record this address. If yo haven’t
taken that step it is easily retrieved as follows:
1. On the Polycom Device
2. Select Men
3. Select Stat s
4. Select Network
5. Select TCP/IP
6. The IP address will be listed in the LCD display of the Polycom device
7. Open p a web browser
8. Type this address into the web browser
9. It will prompt yo for a ser name and password
a. User name: Polycom
b. Password: 456
10. Yo may know begin sing the config rator
