SETTING UP
Carefully unpack the Printer. Be sure to locatethe ribbon, Roll Paper Holder, and Roll Paper Shaft.
Keep the empty box and packing material just in case you ever need to transport the Printer. Then,
remove the Printer Dust Cover.

Proper Setting Up Procedure
Be sure the POWER switch is OFF.
Install the roll paper holder and roll paper, fanfold paper, or single-sheet paper. Adjust the paper
guide on the roll paper holderwhen roll paper
is used.
Remove Clear Plastic Cover (Top Cover) and check the ribbon cassette. If not set, see "Ribbon
Installation and Replacement." Replace Top Cover.
Place ON-LINEIOFF-LINEswitch in OFF-LINE position.
Connect AC power plugto
a 3-wire, 120volt, 60 Hz grounded AC outlet.
Connect the interface cable from the Computer to the printer interface connector. (See Figure
6.)
Turn the Power ON and check that the LED (powerindicator) on the control panel is lit.
Set the RESTARTIRESETswitch to RESET.
Mote: After POWE R-UP or RESET, the carriage may sometimes remainat the right margin (andthe
alert lamp will light up). If this occurs simply set the RESTARTIRESETswitch to RESET
(returningthe carriageto the left margin)and resume printing.
Place ON-LINEIOFF-LINEswitch inON-LINE position.
