UV AIR TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY HELPS REDUCE AIRBORNE
BACTERIA AND VIRUSES*
*The UVantage PLUS™ device is intended to be installed in existing residential and commercial HVAC systems.
This UV device helps to reduce airborne bacteria and viruses. The use of this device is a supplement to and not
a substitute for standard infection control practices; users must continue to follow all current infection control
practices, including those practices related to cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces.
Skin Injury
UV radiation can initiate a photochemical
reaction called erythema within exposed
skin. This “sunburn” can be quite severe
and can occur as a result of only a
few seconds exposure. Chronic skin
exposure to UV radiation has been linked
to premature skin aging, wrinkles and
skin cancer.
Eye Injury
UV radiation exposure can injure the
cornea, the outer protective coating
of the eye. Photokeratitis is a painful
inflammation of the eye caused by UV
radiation-induced lesions on the cornea.
Symptoms include a sensation of sand
in the eye that may last up to two days.
Chronic exposures to acute high-energy
UV radiation can lead to the formation of
cataracts.
There are no immediate warning symptoms to indicate overexposure. If you suspect a UV
exposure, seek medical attention by contacting a medical physician; note that symptoms
may not appear until 12 – 48 hours after exposure.
Symptoms of overexposure including varying degrees of erythema (sunburn) or
photokeratitis (welder’s flash) typically appear hours after exposure has occurred.

or skin injuries and prolonged exposure may also lead to serious skin concerns. To operate
the UVantage PLUS
™
device safely, it is highly recommended to follow the safety guidelines
provided in this manual. Read the label and operating manual before using.
7. Does the UVantage PLUS™ device generate ozone?
