How to update

●Before you begin
This manual describes procedure of update for RICOH Ri 2000.
Read this manual carefully before update.
RICOH Ri 2000 has 2 manual firmware update methods.
Follow the procedure described in this manual to update.
For details, see below chapter.
⚫Update by using USB drive
⚫Update by connecting your PC and RICOH Ri 2000 with Ethernet cable
Note:
If you installed the Data Collector Module, you can be easy to update automatically.
About how to install the Data Collector Module, please see the user manual of RICOH Ri2000.
Below are the steps to update manually.

●Update by using USB drive
Note:
Update by using USB drive is a function added in GIB version 1.11.
If you are using an older version, please update via Ethernet.
1) Insert USB drive into PC and save updater files.
Save the folder "Ri_2000_Updater" to USB drive with the directory shown below.
Note:
Use a USB drive with the following specification.
Format: FAT32
Capacity: 32GB or less recommended.
Be sure to save files in the above directory.
If files are saved in different directory, firmware cannot update normally.
USB drive is not included in this product, please prepare USB drive yourself.
2) Remove the USB drive, insert into the front USB port.

3) Press the Settings tab.
4) Press [OPTION].
5) Press [USB UPDATE].

6) Update automatically in order of Panel (GIB), Sub Control (SCB) and Engine (CTL).
Follow the steps below to update each firmware.
IMPORTANT!
Do not turn off RICOH Ri 2000 or remove the USB drive during updating.
It may cause the printer failure.
●When update is failed
If the following is displayed or if you have started to update but there is nothing displayed about the firmware update, the update
may have failed.
If update is failed, please reboot the printer.
Afterwards, update once again in order from Panel (GIB).

●Firmware update (Panel (GIB))
1) After sending the updater, press [OK] when the screen below is displayed.
2) Press [Install].

3) After install completed, press [OPEN] when the screen below is displayed.
Note:
Don’t press [Done].
Panel (GIB) reboot automatically after press [Open].
Please wait until displayed “Ready” in panel.
Afterwards, Sub Control (SCB) and engine (CTL) start to update automatically.
Note:
If you press [Done], the screen below is displayed.
In this case, be sure to follow the steps below.

1. Don’t put check mark in “Use by default for this action.”.
2. Press [Ri-2000 (RICOH Ri 2000) ].
IMPORTANT!
You must not follow the steps different from the above.
The printer may become unrecoverable by user.

●Firmware update (Sub Control (SCB) / Engine (CTL))
1) After sending the updater, wait until the dialog below disappears.
2) After dialog disappears, wait until displayed “Ready” in panel.
These completes all updates.

●Update by connecting your PC and RICOH Ri 2000 with Ethernet cable
IMPORTANT!
Do not disconnect any cable (Communication, Power, and so on) during updating.
Make sure that update firmware is the latest one published on the web.
Do not downgrade, downgrade is not granted.
When update by this method, it is necessary to disable DHCP setting of the IP address.
1) Run “Ri-2000 Updater.exe”
2) Key-in the printer IP address to update.
3) Select Firmware Set.
4) Click [Update] to send new firmware.
Please update in order of Panel (GIB), Sub Control (SCB) and Engine (CTL).
Note:
You should always update Panel (GIB) first.
Make sure that “Ready” is displayed in panel each update, then update next firmware.
