About This Publication The PowerFlex® 755T Drives Configured to Order Program combines standard
PowerFlex 750-Series Drives with configured input bay and configured output
bay options. This manual (750-IN118) provides procedures for the mechanical
and electrical installation of the configured input bays and configured output
bays of the PowerFlex 755T Drives Configured to Order Program.
For mechanical and electrical installation information about the standard
drive bays (or non-configured bays) of the PowerFlex 755T Drives Configured
to Order Program, see the PowerFlex 750-Series Products with TotalFORCE®
Control Installation Instructions, publication 750-IN100.
See the following table for a summary of which bays are covered in each
publication.
This manual includes the basic steps to position and join the product bays, to
make internal electrical connections, to connect power and the motor, and to
wire basic I/O.
This manual provides instructions for an initial product installation.
Installation procedures in Chapter 1...Chapter 3 assume that supply power is
not connected.
This manual is intended for two types of personnel:
• Qualified personnel familiar with handling heavy equipment.
• Qualified electricians or other personnel who have experience with
electrical terminology, equipment, methods, and safety precautions.
The Additional Resources on page 8 section is a directory of Rockwell

Product Overview
The PowerFlex® 755T Drives Configured to Order Program combines standard
PowerFlex 750-Series Drives with configured input bay and configured output
bay options.
The Configured To Order (CTO) Program is available for PowerFlex 755TM,
755TL, and 755TR drives in frames 8 and 9. The configured bays are floor-
mounted IP21, UL Type 1, or IP54, UL Type 12 enclosures. CTO drives are
configured and priced in the Advisor tool, allowing them to meet precise
application requirements. Example CTO options include:
• Input protection using circuit breaker or fuses
• Door-mounted push buttons, pilot lights, selector switches, speed
potentiometer, infrared (IR) window, and voltage indicator
• Output contactor, output sine-wave filter, or output sine-wave filter
with contactor

Personal Safety
ATTENTION: To avoid an electric shock hazard, verify that there is no AC input and DC bus voltage before servicing. Remove
power and wait 5 minutes before you open the cabinet door. To verify that there is no AC input and DC bus voltage, take the
following measurements using the specified test points in the drive input bay (not the configured input bay):
• Verify that there is no AC input voltage present using the R/L1, S/L2, and T/L3 test point sockets in the drive input bay by
measuring L to L and L to GND.
• Verify that there is no AC input voltage present using the R, S, and T test point sockets in the drive input bay by measuring L
to L and L to GND.
• Verify that there is no DC bus voltage present using the +DC to -DC test points in the drive input bay by measuring +DC to -
DC, +DC to GND, and -DC to GND.

Procedures for verifying that there is no AC input and DC bus voltage in the drive are provided in the PowerFlex 750-Series
Products with TotalFORCE Control Hardware Service Manual, publication 750-TG100.
When a configured input bay with a circuit breaker for input protection is used as a Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) device, you
must measure voltage across the circuit breaker to verify that there is no AC input before servicing. This is in addition to the
measurements in the drive input bay.
Verify that there is no AC input voltage present at the load side of the circuit breaker as follows: Measure voltage across all
phases and measure voltage from each phase to ground. Check phase-to-phase on the line side and load side. If the line
side has power and the load side does not, the circuit breaker is open and the power is OFF. If both the line side and load
side have power, the circuit breaker is closed and the power is ON. If the line side and load side both have no power, then
measure resistance across line and load to see if the breaker is open or closed. Circuit breaker locations are shown in
Component and Connection Locations on page 64.
ATTENTION: To avoid an electric shock hazard, the configured input bay and configured output bay include protective
touch guards to shield exposed electrical equipment against accidental contact. These touch guards are removed during
installation. Before operating this equipment, make sure all protective touch guards are installed to help prevent personal
injury or equipment damage.
ATTENTION: Hazard of personal injury or equipment damage exists when using bipolar input sources. Noise and drift in
sensitive input circuits can cause unpredictable changes in motor speed and direction. Use speed command parameters to
help reduce input source sensitivity.
ATTENTION: Risk of injury or equipment damage exists. DPI™ or SCANport™ host products must not be directly connected
together via 1202 cables. If they are directly connected via 1202 cables, unpredictable behavior can result.
ATTENTION: The drive start/stop/enable control circuitry includes solid-state components. If hazards due to accidental
contact with moving machinery or unintentional flow of liquid, gas or solids exists, an additional hardwired stop circuit may
be required to remove the AC line to the drive. An auxiliary braking method may be required.
ATTENTION: Hazard of personal injury or equipment damage due to unexpected machine operation exists if the drive is
configured to automatically issue a Start or Run command. Do not use these functions without considering applicable local,
national and international codes, standards, regulations or industry guidelines.
ATTENTION: Possible hazard of personal injury due to prolonged exposure to high sound levels exists for PowerFlex 755T
Drives Configured to Order Program products of size frame 8 and higher during operation. Follow applicable local, national,
and international codes, standards, regulations, or industry guidelines for hearing protection when exposed to potentially
damaging noise hazards.

ATTENTION: An incorrectly applied or installed drive system can result in component damage or a reduction in product life.
Wiring or application errors such as an under-sized motor, incorrect or inadequate AC supply, a corrosive environment, or
excessive surrounding air temperatures can result in malfunction of the system.
ATTENTION: This product contains Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) sensitive parts and assemblies. Static control precautions
are required when you install these assemblies. Component damage can result if ESD control procedures are not followed. If
you are not familiar with static control procedures, reference any applicable ESD protection handbook.
ATTENTION: Configuring an analog input for 0…20 mA operation and driving it from a voltage source could cause
component damage. Verify proper configuration before applying input signals.

Data Nameplate Each configured input bay has two data nameplates:
• One on the outside of the door next to the door latch
• One on the inside of the bay, at one of the following locations
- on the top protective touch guard, as shown in Figure 2
- on the power panel, as shown in Figure 74 on page 80
Each data nameplate includes the catalog number of the entire PowerFlex 755T
Drives Configured to Order Program product and other specifications of the
product. The configured output bays do not have a nameplate. For information
about the catalog number, see Catalog Number Explanation on page 15. For
information about drive characteristics that are indicated in the catalog
number, see the Product Rating Cross-references topic in 750-IN100.

Catalog Number
Explanation
A catalog number for a PowerFlex 750-Series Configured Product contains at
least 35 characters. The catalog number is composed of codes that indicate
characteristics of the product. Each code is composed of one or more
characters (letters or numbers) at specific positions in the catalog number. In
the images in this section, catalog number positions are numbered at the top
and codes are lettered at the bottom. See the following example of a catalog
number.
