Catalog Numbers 20-750-EMC2-F5, 20-750-EMC2-F6
The frame 5 and 6 EMC C2 filter kits are used for PowerFlex® 755T product installations that require compliance with CE EN61800-3 Category
C2 for conducted emissions only. The EMC C2 filter kits cannot be used for ungrounded/high resistance ground or marine ungrounded/high
resistance ground applications. Review the instructions in the PowerFlex 750-Series Products with TotalFORCE® Control Installation Instructions,
publication 750-IN100, to become familiar with your installation requirements before completing these instructions.

Frame 5 EMC C2 Filter Installation
Follow these steps to install the frame 5 EMC C2 filter.
1. To drill the required holes for the control and input/output power wire conduit fittings, use the pilot holes in the conduit box bottom plate.

2. Loosen the two captive thumbscrews on the control pod access cover and remove the cover.
Retain the control pod access cover for reuse.
3. Loosen the four M4 captive screws that secure the drive cover to the chassis, and remove the cover.
The original drive cover that is supplied with the drive must not be used with the EMC C2 filter kit.

4. Place the EMC C2 filter conduit box assembly onto the chassis of the drive, so that the conduit box flanges are on the inside of the drive
chassis.
5. To secure the assembly to the chassis, insert and tighten the four M5 x 10 mm slotted-torx screws in the holes on the sides of the chassis.
6. To secure the conduit box to the chassis, insert and tighten the two M6 x 12 mm Torx screws in the holes on the bottom of the chassis.

7. To secure the EMC C2 filter conduit box to the mounting panel, insert and tighten two customer-supplied M8 (5/16 in.) fasteners in the
conduit-box support bracket mounting holes.
8. To secure the bottom plate to the conduit box, insert and tighten the five M5 x 10 mm slotted-torx screws in the bottom of the conduit box.
9. Install the customer-supplied conduit fittings on the bottom plate of the conduit box.

10. Connect the small diameter power wires to the auxiliary R/L1, S/L2, and T/L3 terminals on the drive.
11. Connect the large diameter power wires to the main R/L1, S/L2, and T/L3 terminals on the drive.
12. Route the AC input power cables through the customer-supplied conduit fitting in the bottom plate of the conduit box and connect the
cables to the input power terminals (R/L1, S/L2, T/L3) on the EMC C2 filter.
13. Route control and output power cables through the customer-supplied conduit fittings in the bottom plate of the conduit box and connect
them to the appropriate terminals on the drive.
14. As required, insert the appropriately sized cable clamp into the conduit box receptacle and secure the motor power cable and shield.

15. To secure the front plate to the conduit box, insert and tighten the M6 x 12 mm Torx screw in the hole on the front of the conduit box.
16. Secure the new EMC C2 drive cover that is supplied with the kit to the chassis as shown in step 3 on page 4.
17. Secure the existing control-pod access cover to the chassis as shown in step 2 on page 4.
18. Place the debris hood on the top of the chassis and tighten the four M5 captive Phillips screws.

Frame 6 EMC C2 Filter Installation
Follow these steps to install the frame 6 EMC C2 filter kit.
1. Loosen the eight captive M4 slotted-torx screws on the front cover and remove the cover from the EMC C2 filter assembly.
2. Loosen the eight captive M4 slotted-torx screws on the bottom cover and remove the cover from the EMC C2 filter assembly.
3. To drill the required holes for an AC input power wire conduit fitting, use the pilot hole in the EMC C2 filter conduit box bottom plate.

4. Drill a 52 mm (3.0 in.) hole in the AC input power and ground pilot hole in the drive conduit-box bottom plate. This hole is used for a 90°
fitting that is provided with the EMC C2 filter kit (item 9 shown on page 9).
5. To drill the required holes for control, DC input (if used), and AC output power wire conduit fittings, use the pilot holes in the drive
conduit-box bottom plate.

7. Remove the two M8 nuts and washers from the PE ground studs on the chassis.
8. Place the two slots in the tab at the top of the conduit box onto the ground studs.
9. To secure the conduit box to the chassis, align and tighten the four M4 captive slotted-torx screws.
10. Install an M8 nut and washer on the right PE ground stud only. The second M8 nut and washer is installed later in this installation (See
step 17 on page 17).

12. Mount the EMC C2 filter conduit assembly by using customer-supplied M6 (1/4 in.) fasteners. There is no minimum clearance
requirement between the drive and EMC C2 filter conduit box assembly.

13. Follow these steps to install the 90° fittings on the flexible conduit (see 90° Conduit Fitting Parts for reference):
a. Remove the gland nut, seal ring, and ground ferrule from the fitting body.
b. Place the gland nut onto the end of the flexible conduit.
c. Place the seal ring onto the end of the flexible conduit.
d. Thread the ground ferrule into the end of the flexible conduit.
e. With the flexible conduit fully threaded onto the ground ferrule, place the seal ring tightly against the ground ferrule.
f. Place the end of the ground ferrule and flexible conduit into the fitting body.
g. Thread the gland nut onto the fitting body and tighten the gland nut.
h. Repeat steps a…g to install the second 90° angle to the first fitting.

14. Route the power and ground cables through the flexible conduit and 90° fittings. Allow approximately 350 mm (13.8 in.) of cable length
between the drive connections end to the 90° fitting.

15. Follow these steps to install the 90° fittings, with flexible conduit and power and ground cables, onto the drive conduit box and EMC C2
filter conduit assembly (see 90° Conduit Fitting Parts on page 16 for reference):
a. Remove the locknut from the fitting body.
b. With the seal washer on the fitting body, insert the cables and fitting end into the hole in the drive conduit plate.
c. Place the locknut over the power and ground cables, thread the locknut onto the fitting body, and tighten the locknut.
d. Repeat steps a…c to install the second fitting on the EMC C2 filter conduit assembly.
16. In the drive conduit box, secure the power cables to the AC input power terminals (R/L1, S/L2, T/L3) by using customer-supplied M8 nuts
and washers.
17. In the dive conduit box, secure the ground cable to the left PE ground stud by using the M8 nut and washer that is supplied with the drive.

18. In the EMC C2 filter conduit assembly, connect the power cables from the drive to the AC power terminals (R/L1, S/L2, T/L3).
19. In the EMC C2 filter conduit assembly, connect the ground cable from the drive to the upper PE ground stud.
20. Install the bottom plate of the EMC C2 filter conduit assembly in the reverse order of removal. See step 2 on page 10.
21. Install the customer-supplied AC input cable conduit fitting on the bottom plate of the EMC C2 filter conduit assembly.
22. Route the AC input power and ground cables through the conduit fitting on the bottom plate of the EMC C2 filter conduit assembly.
23. Connect the AC input power and ground cables to the appropriate input power terminals (R/L1, S/L2, T/L3) and PE ground stud on the
EMC C2 filter.

24. Install the front cover of the EMC C2 filter conduit assembly in the reverse order of removal. See step 2 on page 10.

25. Align the two slots at the top of the front cover with the two tabs on the drive conduit box and place the cover on the box.
26. To secure the front plate to the drive conduit box, align and tighten the four M4 captive slotted-torx screws.
27. Secure the cover to the chassis as shown in step 6 on page 12.
28. Place the debris hood on the top of the chassis and tighten the four M4 captive slotted-torx screws.
