Caution: the Surfin groove milling machine is manufactured in accordance with the applicable
European directives. Guards and protective devices must under no circumstances be removed or
modified. When using the machine, attention should be paid to the following points:
1. Read the instruction manual before using the appliance.
2. The SURFIN groove milling machine must always be used in accordance with safety rules and
technical instructions.
3. The battery must always be taken out of the SURFIN groove milling machine during transport or
cleaning and when carrying out any repair or maintenance operations. This also applies to changing
tools.
4. The operator must never leave the machine unattended when it is running.
5. Before leaving the machine, ensure that the battery is taken out of the SURFIN groove milling
machine.
6. After maintenance or adjustment, ensure that all safety components have been put back in place.
7. Ear defenders must be worn.
8. Eye protectors must be worn.
9. Safety shoes must be worn.
10. Cut-resistant gloves must be worn.
11. If a large amount of dust is produced during work, it is recommended to use a vacuum cleaner or
other dust collector along with suitable breathing apparatus.
12. Depending on the type of floor, the SURFIN groove milling machine may produce gases. The
operator is responsible if gases are produced and if it is necessary to wear protective devices. Milling
some floors may produce substances which are harmful to health. Special, suitable breathing
equipment must be worn. In this case, a dust collector must be used.
13. The floor should be swept before work starts, since some materials or waste may be thrown into
the air. Screws and bolts in the floor will be more visible if it is cleaned. If the machine hits screws or
bolts, it may be seriously damaged.
14. Only use the machine indoors and do not store it outdoors or in a damp area.
15. Only use mills in perfect condition and suitable for the intended use.
16. The machine should only be serviced by qualified technicians.
17. Use only original spare parts.
18. Dismantling of the electrical box, batteries or charger is strictly prohibited.
19. Recharge the batteries only with the charger provided
BATTERY USE AND MAINTENANCE
Recharge only with the charger specified by ROMUS. A charger which is suitable for one type of
batteries may create a fire risk if it is used with another type of batteries
Use tools only with specially designated batteries. Using any other batteries may create a risk of injury
and fire.
If the battery is not in use, keep it away from metal objects such as paper clips, coins, nails, screws or
or other small metal objects where there is a risk of making contact between the two terminals. Short-
circuiting the battery terminals may cause sparks, burns or a fire.
In the event of poor use, liquid may escape from the batteries. Avoid any contact with this liquid. In the
event of accidental contact, rinse the affected parts immediately under running water. If it splashes into
your eyes, consult a doctor. The liquid escaping from the batteries may cause irritation or burns.

This instruction manual must be read and understood by all individuals using this machine, including
those involved in its maintenance.
The SURFIN groove milling machine is manufactured in accordance with the technical regulations
in the applicable European directives.
Incorrect use may cause injury to the operator. See the section on using the appliance.

DANGER: If you lean on the machine, the blade comes out of the opening in the lower
part. It is therefore essential to keep your hands away from the cutting area and the
blade. Contact by any part of the body with the blade rotating will cause serious injury.
Battery installation and removal
Charging the battery
Use only the Romus charger supplied. Only these chargers are compatible with the lithium
ion battery used in your power tool.
Note: The battery is supplied in a low charge state. To guarantee its full output, charge it in
the charger before first start-up for at least 2 hours. A lithium ion battery can be recharged at
any time without reducing its working life. Interrupting the charging process will not damage
the battery.
To remove the battery, take it out of the tool by pressing on the button on top of the battery.
To insert the battery, align its tongue on the groove in the housing and slide the battery in
until it locks with a click.
Never force the battery while you are inserting it. If the battery does not go in easily, you are
not inserting it correctly
Adjusting the grooving depth

Surfin groove milling machine |Ref. 95320
8
The depth of the groove depends on the thickness and nature of the covering:
- For homogeneous PVCs and linoleums, cut the groove to 2/3 of the thickness of the
covering.
- For non-homogeneous PVCs, cut the groove only in the wear layer.
Move the knurled depth adjustment knob (A) until the cursor (B) is opposite the desired
depth.
Before cutting the groove, test on the covering chutes and correct if necessary
Cutting the groove

9
Insert the narrow front caster (A) into the joint and align the rear wide caster (B) with the joint.
Press simultaneously on the unlocking detente (C) and the On/Off switch (D) located under
the handle and hold the latter down.
Lower the handle slowly until it is in the stop. Maintain this position and then move the
grooving machine along the joint. After a few centimetres, the rear guide caster (wider)
penetrates directly into the chamfer created already, finally providing guidance for the
machine.
At the end of each groove cutting, first release the pressure on the handle. This moves
automatically into the safety position under the action of a return spring; now release the
switch (D)
Swarf bag
To guarantee the best possible aspiration, the bag must be emptied regularly.
The swarf is evacuated very simply by opening the slide on the bag.

Swivel the cap and then, by pressing on the shaft locking button (A), unscrew the blade
screw (B) clockwise with the wrench supplied
Remove the pin, then the worn blade and replace it, paying attention to the direction of
rotation

11
Position the pin (B) by turning it until it clicks, so that it is embedded completely
Press the shaft locking button (A) to tighten the blade screw (B) anticlockwise, using the
wrench provided, then lower the cap, retighten the two cap screws and store the wrench in
its housing.
Always store and transport the machine in its box. Do not store or transport objects here other than
the Surfin groove milling machine and these accessories (batteries, charger, bag)
The Surfin groove milling machine requires practically no maintenance if you take proper care of it.
