Rosemor International Ltd 2022 © 2
The T20 is the update to the T10 attachment for the Rotomatic and ET15B machines.Designed specifically for
performing quick maintenance cleans on both travelators and the flat part of escalator steps. It utilises the
Vacuum, Detergent and Modulated Motor Drive from the Rotomatic (or the older ET15B) for operation. It cannot
be used without a Rotomatic or ET15B Escalator Deep Cleaning Machine. For a standalone travelator cleaning
machine, please see the T20i from Rosemor International.
The T20 is used while the escalator or travelator is moving towards you, which makes it a very quick method
to perform a cleaning operation.
Compared with its predecessor the T10, the T20 has had some important improvements implemented on it:
- Redesigned the detergent dispensing system to provide better detergent coverage and reduce striping.
- Made belt drive system easier to adjust and remove for cleaning and maintenance.
- Simplified the guide wheel adjustment system, for easier operation.
- Removed the transit wheel system from the front of the T20, to make operation simpler.
- Made some adjustments to the vacuum system, to reduce the chances of blockages.

Rosemor International Ltd reserves the right to adjust the machine and any documentation. This
operation and maintenance instruction manual is intended for service personnel only.
Preliminary remarks
Safety and reliability are essential to guarantee a long and trouble-free service life of the Rotomatic.
In order to fulfil these requirements, the operator must obtain sufficient skills in both handling and
operating the machine and of its maintenance and care. It is therefore vital that the operator
receives instruction and training from either Rosemor International Ltd or one of its specialists
before the cleaning machine is used for the first time.
This operation and maintenance manual only represent additional assistance for the operator in
correct and safe use of the cleaning machine. Reading this manual does not qualify any person for
safe use of the Rotomatic.
Rosemor International Ltd or one of its customer service centres should be informed immediately if
any technical fault in this cleaning machine is suspected or has occurred.

(Rotomatic and T20) was designed and
manufactured according to state-of-the-art
technology and in compliance with all relevant
regulations. This, however, does not guarantee
that some other unavoidable dangers for
persons and property can occur. All personnel
working with this machine must therefore read
and follow these operating instructions, and in
particular, be fully trained in all of the relevant
safe operating procedures provided by Rosemor
International Ltd or one of its authorised
specialists.
These operating instructions must remain at the
machine for use by the operator. Each operator
must receive thorough training on handling and
working with the machine.
1.2 Owner’s duties
In accordance with EU directive on the use of
operating equipment 89/655/EEC Art.6(1) and 7
and EU framework directive 89/391/EEC Art.1(1)

obliged to instruct all persons, particularly with
regard to safety, who will be authorised to work
on assembly, operation, maintenance, repair or
dismantling of the machine.
The owner is also obliged in accordance with EU
directive on the use of operating equipment
89/655/EEC Art.4a to inspect the machine before
start-up, following repair work and following
faults or malfunction.
1.3 Intended and specified use
The automatic escalator/travelator deep
cleaning machine (T20) is exclusively intended
for basic cleaning of indoor and outdoor
escalators and travelators. Any use beyond this
stipulation must be considered as contrary to
the manufacturer’s intentions. The manufacturer
will not be liable for any damage resulting from
such work; all risk in this case will be borne
exclusively by the operator. Correct use of the
machine also includes compliance with the
conditions of operation and maintenance
stipulated by the manufacturer.
• The automatic escalator deep cleaning machine
Rotomatic and T20 are not intended, nor suitable
for cleaning hazardous dirt or substances.
• The machine is not fire-proof.
• The machine is also not licensed for use in
cleaning public streets and paths.
1.4 Who may operate the machine?
The machine may only be used by persons who
have been trained in its operation and who are

3.1 Before Starting
All local safety regulations and instructions
must be observed before each start-up. The
escalator/travelator must be inspected jointly
with the party responsible for the machinery,
who should also be informed of any
discoloration or paint stains etc. caused by
repair and renewal work.
3.2 Check operation of Travelator/Escalator
During the cleaning operation, the
travelator/escalator will need to move towards
the machine. Now is a good time to check that
the travelator/escalator moves as required.
3.2.1 Preparing the Rotomatic (or older ET15B)
For use with the T20:
Note: Check that the Rotomatic has sufficient detergent in the
detergent tank. Check the operation of the vacuum system and empty
the waste tank before proceeding with the cleaning.
It is advised to test the operation of the T20 connected
to your Rotomatic/ET15B before moving into position
to clean.
•Connect the red T20 plug to the red T10/T20 outlet
on the rear of your escalator cleaning machine.
•Connect the Vacuum Hose to the T20 and the Black
outlet of the Rotomatic Waste Tank (or the outward
facing outlet of the ET15B waste tank).
•Connect the small detergent tube from the T20 to
the Q/R fitting on the Rotomatic.
•Put the Rotomatic/ET15B into ‘Travelator’ Mode and
with the T20 stood carefully on its side, press
‘Auto-Start’ on the Rotomatic/ET15B.
•Check that detergent is spraying from the
‘detergent spray area (11 on pg.9) and that both
brushes are rotating towards the centre of the
machine.
The travelator/escalator must
move towards the T20 during
cleaning. If the
travelator/escalator moves
away, The machine will not
clean or dry the treads
properly.
Always keep hands and
body parts away from the
rotating brushes. Always
remove hand/wrist jewelry
and wear short sleeved shirt
when inspecting brushes.

3.3 Attach T20 to Rotomatic or ET15B
Once in position and ready to clean, you are
ready to attach the T20 to the Rotomatic.
Note, that this step should be completed with
the escalator/travelator switched off.
- Roll the T20 into position on the
travelator/escalator, so that the T20 is sat
just in front of the tread combs.
- Pull the pull-pin out and raise up the transit
wheels, to allow the T20 brushes to engage
the treads. Allow the pull-pin to locate in the
upper hole of the cam.
- Next, attach the ‘U-Bar’ to the T20, as shown
here.
Note: If cleaning an escalator,
always clean from the bottom
of the escalator and never the
top.

Next, wheel the Rotomatic into position. Now
attach the U-Bar to the corresponding brackets
on the Rotomatic Transportation Trolley.
Note: For ET15B, separate brackets are available
to attach to your older trolley.

3.5 Next, connect the vacuum hose, detergent
pipe and power cable from the T20 to the
Rotomatic.
•Connect the red T20 plug to the red T10/T20
outlet on the rear of your Rotomatic/ET15B.
•Connect the Vacuum Hose to the T20 and the
Black outlet of the Rotomatic Waste Tank (or
the outward facing outlet of the ET15B waste
tank).
•Connect the small detergent tube from the
T20 to the small Q/R fitting on the Rotomatic.
•Put the Rotomatic/ET15B into ‘Travelator’
Mode.
After these steps, your setup should like this:

*Note, cables and pipes have been removed for clarity.
Press ‘Cleaning Mode’ on the Rotomatic touch screen until
‘Travelator’ is displayed.
Note, the legs of the Rotomatic must be fully retracted in
order to be able to select ‘Travelator’ mode.

3.6 Cleaning
Now that you have everything in position and
connected, you are ready to clean.
First, press the ‘Auto-Start’ Button on your
Rotomatic or ET15B machine.
Then, immediately start the escalator or
travelator, moving towards the T20.
If the travelator or escalator is moving away
from the T20, stop immediately and reverse the
direction. The T20 will not clean or dry the steps
if the escalator or travelator moves away from
the T20!
Allow the T20 at least 2 or 3 complete passes in
the same position before moving the T20 over to
clean the next strip of escalator or travelator
treads. For very dirty treads, more passes might
be required.
3. Operation
31/3/2022 Written and illustrated by Ben Sprules
Rosemor International Ltd 2022 © 14
When cleaning an escalator,
ensure there is enough flat
step space for the T20 & that
none of the step risers can
collide with the T20.
3.7 Moving the T20 over
Once you are satisfied with the cleaning results
of the current strip, you can move the T20 over
to clean the next strip.
To do this:
- Stop the Escalator/Travelator
- Remove the 2x 12mm pins from the trolley of
the Rotomatic/ET15B
- Lift the U-Bar and carefully reposition the
T20 onto the next strip of treads to clean.
Repositions the Rotomatic/ET15B if required
and replace the 2x 12mm pins.
- Press Auto-Start and restart the
travelator/escalator once more to continue
cleaning. Don’t forget that the
travelator/escalator MUST be moving towards
the T20.
When cleaning, always trail
the cable in a safe manner
where it cannot be possible
to trip over or become
tangled up with it.

3.8 Ending the Cleaning Operation
When you are satisfied with the cleaning results,
you can end the cleaning operation.
To do this:
- Switch off the Travelator/Escalator
- Press the ‘Stop’ Button on the
Rotomatic/ET15B
- Disconnect the Rotomatic/ET15B from the T20
by following the steps in reverse on pg. 13.
- Carefully roll or lift the T20 from the
escalator/travelator.
3.9 Aftercare of the T20
For best results and a long, reliable working life
of the T20, some ‘after clean’ maintenance
should be carried out.
- Place the T20 on its side (unplugged), as
shown on pg. 10
- Using a scraper or similar tool, remove any
built-up dirt and grime that may be
obstructing the vacuum channel.
- Remove any excess dirt from the brushes
and white roller wheels and check everything
rotates freely.
3. Operation
31/3/2022 Written and illustrated by Ben Sprules
Rosemor International Ltd 2022 © 15
The T20 will likely drip dirty
water from the underside after
the cleaning process is
complete. It’s good practice to
have some rags or a mop to spot
clean afterwards. Be wary of
slipping hazards this can create.
When carrying out
maintenance, wear
appropriate PPE as there could
be sharp edges and the chance
of dirt flicking up and entering
your mouth and/or eyes.
