Generalinformation

• Formaximum safety, installers should always carefullyread
the followingwarnings.
• Store the operation and installation manual in a safe
location and rememberto hand it overto the newownerif
the airconditioneris sold ortransferred.
• This manual explains howto install an indoorunit with a
split systemwith two SAMSUNG units. The use of other
types of unitswith different control systems maydamage
the units and invalidate thewarranty. The manufacturer
shall not be responsible fordamages arising from the use of
non compliant units.
• The manufacturershall not be responsible fordamage
originating from unauthorized changes orthe improper
connection of electric and requirements set forth in the
“Operating limits” table, included in the manual, shall
immediatelyinvalidate the warranty.
• The airconditionershould be used onlyforthe applications
forwhich it has been designed: the indoorunit is not
suitable to be installed in areas used forlaundry.
• Do not use the units if damaged. If problems occur, switch
the unit off and disconnect it from the powersupply.
• In orderto prevent electric shocks, fires orinjuries, always
stop the unit, disablethe protection switch and contact
SAMSUNG’s technical support if the unit produces smoke, if
the powercable is hot ordamaged orif the unit is very noisy.
• Always rememberto inspect the unit, electric connections,
refrigerant tubes and protections regularly. These
operations should be performed byqualified personnel only.
• The unit contains moving parts,which should always be
kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not attemptto repair, move, alterorreinstall the unit. If
performed byunauthorized personnel, these operations may
cause electric shocks orfires.
• Donot placecontainerswithliquidsorotherobjectsontheunit.
• All the materials usedforthe manufacture and packaging of
the airconditionerare recyclable.
• The packing material and exhaust batteries of the remote
controller(optional) must be disposed of in accordancewith
current laws.
• The airconditionercontains a refrigerantthat has to be
disposed of as specialwaste.At the end of its life cycle, the
airconditionermust be disposed of in authorised centres
orreturnedto the retailerso that it can be disposed of
correctly and safely.
• Wearprotective equipment (such as safetygloves,
goggles, and headgear) during installation and
maintenanceworks. Installation/repairtechnicians may be
injured if protective equipment is not properly equipped.

tubes.
• Upon receipt, inspect the product toverifythat it has not been
damaged during transport. If the product appears damaged,
DO NOTINSTALL it and immediately report the damage to the
carrierorretailer(if the installerorthe authorized technician
has collectedthe material from the retailer.)

SafetyInformation
• Aftercompleting the installation, always carry out a
functional test and provide the instructions on howto
operatethe airconditionertothe user.
• Do not use the airconditionerin environmentswith
hazardous substances orclose to equipmentthat release
freeflames to avoid the occurrence of fires, explosions or
injuries.
• Do not install the product in a place where thermohygrostat
is needed (such as serverroom, machineryroom, computer
room, etc.) Those places do not provide guaranteed
operation condition ofthe product therefore performance
can be poorin these places.
• Do not install the product in a ship ora vehicle (such as a
campervan). Salt,vibration orotherenvironmental factor
maycause the product malfunction, electric shock orfire.
• Ourunits should be installed in compliance withthe spaces
shown in the installation manual,to ensure accessibility
from both sides and allowrepairs ormaintenance
operations to be carried out. The unit’s components should
be accessible and easyto disassemblewithout endangering
people and objects.
Forthis reason,when provisions ofthe installation manual
are not compliedwith, the cost required to access and repair
the units (in SAFETY CONDITIONS, as set out in prevailing
regulations)with harnesses, ladders, scaffolding orany
otherelevation systemwill NOTbe considered part of the
warrantyandwill be charged tothe end customer.

• Always make sure that the powersupplyis compliant with
current safetystandards.Always install the airconditionerin
compliancewith current local safetystandards.
• Always verify that a suitable grounding connection is
available.
• Verifythat the voltage and frequency of the powersupply
complywith the specifications andthat the installed power
is sufficient to ensure the operation of anyotherdomestic
appliance connected tothe same electric lines.
• Alwaysverifythat the cut-off and protection switches are
suitablydimensioned.
• Verifythat the airconditioneris connected tothe power
supplyin accordance with the instructions provided in the
wiring diagram included in the manual.
• Alwaysverifythat electric connections (cable entry, section
of leads, protections…) are compliant withthe electric
specifications andwith the instructions provided in the
wiring scheme.Alwaysverifythat all connections comply
with the standards applicable tothe installation of air
conditioners.
• Devices disconnected from the powersupply should be
completely disconnected in the condition of overvoltage
category.
• Be sure notto perform powercable modification, extension
wiring, and multiplewire connection.
– It maycause electric shock orfire due to poorconnection,
poorinsulation, orcurrent limit override.
– When extensionwiring is required due to powerline
damage, referto "Step13 Optional: Extendingthe power
cable" in the installation manual.
CAUTION
Makesurethatyou earththe cables.
• Do not connect the earthwire to the gas pipe,waterpipe,
lighting rod ortelephonewire. If earthing is not complete,
electric shock orfire mayoccur.
Installthe circuitbreaker.
• If the circuit breakeris not installed, electric shock orfire
mayoccur.
Makesurethat thecondensedwaterdrippingfromthe
drainhose runsoutproperlyand safely.
Install thepowercable andcommunication cable of
the indoorand outdoorunit at least1m awayfromthe
electricappliance.
Install theindoorunit awayfrom lighting apparatus
usingthe ballast.
• If you use the wireless remote control, reception error may
occurdue to the ballast of the lighting apparatus.

• There must be no obstacles nearthe airinlet and
outlet.
• Install the indoorunit on a ceiling that can support its
weight.
• Maintain sufficient clearance around the indoorunit.
• Before installing the indoorunit, be sure to check
whetherthe chosen location iswell-drained.
• The indoorunit must be installed such that it is beyond
public access and is not touchable byusers.
• Rigidwallwithoutvibration.
• Where it is not exposed to direct sunshine.
• Wherethe airfiltercan be removed and cleaned easily.
Do notinstallthe airconditionerin following
places.
• Placewhere there is mineral oil orarsenic acid. Resin
parts flame and the accessories may drop orwater
mayleak. The capacityof the heat exchangermay
reduce orthe airconditionermaybe out of order.
• The placewhere corrosive gas such as sulphuric acid
gas generatesfrom thevent pipe orairoutlet.
• The copperpipe orconnection pipe maycorrode and
refrigerant may leak.
• The placewhere there is a machine that generates
electromagneticwaves. The airconditionermaynot
operate normally due to control system.
• The placewhere there is a dangerof existing
combustible gas, carbonfibre orflammable dust.
• The placewhere thinnerorgasoline is handled. Gas
mayleak and it maycause fire.

CAUTION
• The indoorunit must be installed accordingto the
specified distances in orderto permit accessibility
from each side, to guarantee correct operation,
maintenance, and repairof the unit.
The components of the indoorunit must be reachable
and removable undersafe conditions forpeople and
the unit.
• Do not holdthe dischargewhile carrying the indoor
unit to avoid the possibility of breakage.
• You must hold the hangerplate on the cornerand
carrythe indoorunit.
Step3 Optional:Insulatingthebodyof
theindoorunit
Ifyou install a cassette type indoorunit on the ceiling
when temperature is over27°C and humidity is over
80%,you must applyan extra10 mm thick polyethylene
insulation ora similartype of insulation tothe body of the
indoorunit.
Cut away the partwhere pipes are pulled out forthe
insulatingwork.

Step4 Installingtheindoorunit
When deciding on the location of the airconditionerthe
following restrictions must be taken into account.
1 Determinethe positions of the pipe and the drain hose
hole as shown inthe pattern sheet, and drill the hole
with an innerdiameterof14 mm.
NOTE
• Since the diagram is made of paper, it mayshrink
orstretch slightlydue totemperature orhumidity.
Forthis reason, before drilling the holes, be sure
to maintain the correct dimensions between the
markings.

2 Performthe following steps to install inspection holes
in accordance with the panel type.

• Install an inspection hole to the direction of
connection parts of the refrigerant pipe and the
drain hose. (1 point)

3 Insert bolt anchors, use existing ceiling supports or
construct a suitable support as shown in figure.

4 Install the suspension bolts, depending on the ceiling
type.

CAUTION
• Make sure that the ceiling is strong enough to support
theweight of the indoorunit. Before hanging the unit,
test the strength of each attached suspension bolt.
• If the length ofthe suspension bolt is more than1.5 m,
you are required to prevent vibration.
5 Screweight pairs of nuts and washers to the suspension
bolts, making space forhanging the indoorunit.
CAUTION
• You must install all of the suspension rods.
• It is important to leave sufficient space in thefalse
ceiling to allowaccess formaintenance orrepairs to
the drainage pipe connection,the refrigerant pipe
connection, orto remove the unit if necessary.
6 Hang the indoorunit to the suspension bolts between
two nuts. Cut a pad stopperand place it on the
suspension bolts to hold thewashers. Removethe
stopperand screwthe nuts tofix the unit.

7 Adjust the unitto the appropriate position, taking into
account the installation area forthe front panel.
• Place the pattern sheet onthe indoorunit.
• Adjust the space between the ceiling and the
indoorunit byusing a dimension gauge.
• Fix the indoorunit securelyafteradjusting the level
of the unit byusing a leveller.
• Removethe pattern sheet and install the front
panel.

The indoorunit comeswith nitrogen gas (inert gas)
charged atthe factory. Therefore, all inert gas must be
purged before connecting the assembly piping.

• To prevent dirt orforeign objectsfrom getting into the
pipes during installation, do not remove the pinch pipe
completely untilyou are readyto connect the piping.
Step6 Cuttingandflaringthepipes
1 Make sure that you have the required tools available:
pipe cutter, reamer, flaring tool, and pipe holder.
2 Ifyou wishto shorten the pipes, cut themwith a pipe
cutter, ensuring that the cut edge remains at a 90°
angle to the side of the pipe. Referto the illustrations
belowforexamples of edges cut correctlyand
incorrectly.

3 To prevent anygas from leaking out, remove all burrs
at the cut edge of the pipe, using a reamer.
4 Slide a flare nut on to the pipe and modifythe flare.

Therearetworefrigerant pipesof different diameters:
• A smallerone forthe liquid refrigerant.
• A largerone forthe gas refrigerant. The inside of
copperpipe must be clean and has no dust.
1 Removethe pinch pipe on the pipes and connect the
assemblypipes to each pipe, tightening the nuts, first
manuallyand thenwith a torquewrench, a spanner
applying the following torque.

NOTE
• If the pipes must be shortened, see Step6 Cutting
andflaring thepipes on page 10.
2 Be sureto use an insulatorthick enough to coverthe
refrigerant tube to protect the condensate wateron
the outside of the pipe falling onto thefloorand to
improve the efficiencyof the unit.
3 Cut off anyexcessfoam insulation.
4 Make sure that there are no cracks orwaves on the
bent area.
5 Itwould be necessaryto double the insulation
thickness (10 mm ormore) to prevent condensation
even onthe insulatorwhen if the installed area is
warm and humid.
CAUTION
• Connectthe indoorand outdoorunits using pipeswith
flared connections (not supplied). Forthe lines, use
insulated, unwelded, degreased and deoxidized copper
pipe (Cu DHP type to ISO1337 orUNI EN12735-1),
suitable foroperating pressures of at least 4.2 MPa
and fora burst pressure of at least 20.7 MPa. Copper
pipe forhydro-sanitary applications is completely
unsuitable.
• Forsizing and limits (height difference, line length,
max. bends, refrigerant charge, etc.) seethe outdoor
unit installation manual.
• All refrigerant connection must be accessible, in order
to permit eitherunit maintenance orremoving it
completely.
• If the pipes require brazing, make sure that oxygen
free nitrogen (OFN) isflowing throughthe system.
• Nitrogen blowing pressure range is 0.02to 0.05 MPa.

Step8 Performingthe gasleaktest
To identify potential gas leaks on the indoorunit, inspect
the connection area of each refrigerant pipe using a leak
detectorforR-410A.
Before recreating thevacuum and recirculating the
refrigerant gas, pressurize thewhole systemwith
nitrogen (using a cylinderwith a pressure reducer) at
a pressure above 4 MPa in orderto immediatelydetect
leaks on the refrigerant fittings.
Madevacuum for15 minutes and pressurizing system
with nitrogen.

Onceyou have checked that there are no leaks in the
system, you can insulate the piping and hose.
1 To avoid condensation problems, place Acrylonitrile
Butadien Rubberseparatelyaround each refrigerant pipe.

• Always make the seam of pipes face upwards.
2 Wind insulating tape around the pipes and drain hose
avoiding compressing the insulation too much.

3 Finishwrapping insulating tape aroundthe rest of the
pipes leading to the outdoorunit.
4 The pipes and electrical cables connecting the indoor
unitwith the outdoorunit must be fixed tothe wall
with suitable ducts.
CAUTION
• Make sure that all refrigerant connection must be
accessibleforeasymaintenance and detachment.
• Install the insulation not to getwiderand use the
adhesives on the connection part of it to prevent
moisture from entering.
• Wind the refrigerant pipewith insulation tape if it is
exposed to outside sunlight.
• Install the refrigerant pipe respecting that the
insulation does not get thinneron the bent part or
hangerof pipe.
• Add the additional insulation ifthe insulation plate
gets thinner.

5 Selectthe insulation of the refrigerant pipe.
• Insulate the gas side and liquid side pipe, noting
the insulation thickness that must differaccording
to the pipe size.
• Standard: Less than an indoortemperature
of 30°C,with humidityat 85%. If installing in
a high humidityenvironment, use one grade
thickerinsulatorby referring to the table below.
If installing in an unfavourable environment, use
thickerone.
• The heat-resistance temperature of the insulator
must be morethan120°C.

• When installing insulation in the places and
conditions below, use the same insulation that is
used forhigh humidity conditions.

humid due to a lack ofventilation.

1 Push the supplied drain hose as faras possible over
the drain socket.
2 Tighten the metal clamp as shown in the picture.
3 Wrapthe supplied large sealing pad overthe metal
clamp and drain hose to insulate and fix itwith clamps.
4 Insulate the complete drain piping inside the building
(field supply).
If the drain hose cannot be sufficientlyset on a slope,
fit the hosewith drain raising piping (field supply).
5 Push the drain hose upto insulation when connecting
the drain hose to drain socket.

Step11 Performingthedrainagetest
1 Do a leaktest at the connection part of the flexible
hose and the drain pipe:
a Connect a general hose to the connection part of
the flexible hose of the indoorunit, and pourin
somewater.

b Afterpouring some water, reassemble the rubber
cap on the connection part of a flexible hose of
the indoorunit and firmly tighten itwith a band to
prevent leakage.
c Check the leak test at the part where the adhesive
forthe flexible hose and the drain pipe is used.
CAUTION
• The leak test must be performed forat least 24 hours.
2 Check the condensed waterdrainage:
a Pourabout 2 liters ofwaterinto the indoorunit
drain pan as shown inthe picture.
b When the electric cable connection is completed
• Turn on the indoorunit and outdoorunit.
• Operate inthe Cool mode.
CAUTION
• Onlyin the Cool mode,you can check the correct
operation of the drain pump.
When the electric cable connection has not been
completed
• Remove the control box coverof the indoorunit.
• Connectthe powersupply(220 V, 50/60 Hz)to the L
and N terminals.
• Reassemble the control box coverand turn on the
indoorunit.
CAUTION
• When the float switch is not detected due to
insufficientwateron the drain pan, the drain
pumpwill not work.
• If the powersupplyis directly connected to the L
and N terminals, communication errormessage
might appear.
• Aftercompleting the drainage check,turn the unit
off and disconnect the powersupply.
• Reassemble the control box cover.
c Checkwhetherthe drain pumpworks correctly.
d Checkwhetherthe drainage is performing
correctlyat the end of the drain pipe.
e Check forleakage atthe drain pipe and drain pipe
connection part.
f When leakage occurs, check whetherthe indoor
unit is level and check the drain hose connection
part, drainpipe connection part and drain pump
connection.
g When the drainage check is completed and
the condensedwaterremains on the drain pan,
remove thewater.

eachwire.
The indoorunit is powered through the outdoorunit by
means of a H07 RN-F connection cable (ora more power
model), with insulation in synthetic rubberand a jacket
in polychloroprene (neoprene), in accordance withthe
requirements specified in the standard EN 60335-2-40.
1 Removethe screwon the electrical component box
and remove the coverplate.
2 Route the connection cordthrough the side of the
indoorunit and connect the cable to the terminals
referto the figure below.
3 Route the otherend of the cable to the outdoorunit
throughthe ceiling & the hole on thewall.
4 Reassemble the electrical component box cover,
carefullytightening the screw.
