Precautions
Installation
* Ne placez jamais |’appareil dans un endroit poussiéreux ou humide,

Ventilation

N’utilisez jamais du diluant synthetique sur l’appareil
Pour nettoyer le panneau frontal ou le coffret de I’appareil il est re-
commandé d'utiliser toujours un chiffon doux et sec. Ne jamais utiliser
du diluant synthétique, de I’alcool ou d’autres diluants, car dans ce cas,
il est possible que quelques mots apposés sur le panneau frontal
puissent se trouver effacés ou que Ja paroi du cadran devienne opaque.
De méme, quand vous utilisez un insecticide en aérosol a proximité de
|‘appareil, prendre bien soin de ne jamais en répandre dessus.

When
connecting
or
re-locating
the
unit,
be
sure
to
turn
the
power
off
or
disconnect
the
power
cable.
Be
sure
not
to
confuse
the
right
channel
with
the
left,
plus
cables
with
minus
or
inputs
with
outputs.
Check
each
step
carefully,
Use
connection
cords
of
dependable
quality.
Check
that
connec-
tions
are
secure
and
that
connecting
leads
are
not
frayed
or
in
contact
with
other
objects.
Poor
connection
may
cause
hum
noise
or
breakdown.
Of
the
three
AC
outlets
provided
on
the
rear
panel,
the
one,
marked
“SWITCHED,”
is
controlled
by
the
front-panel
POWER
switch.
It
is
convenient
to
use
it
to
power
a
program
source
component
such
as
your turntable, etc.
The
other
two
AC
outlets,
marked
“UNSWITCHED,”
are
not
con-
trolled
by
the
unit’s
POWER
switch;
so
long
as
the
unit
is
connected
to
a
wall
outlet,
the
connected
components
are
also
powered.
The
“SWITCHED”
and
“UNSWITCHED”
outlets
have
a
Capacity
of
50
watts
and
150
watts
respectively.
Do
not
connect
any
component
whose
power
consumption
exceeds

capacity

outlet,

Connexions
* Quand vous branchez I’appareil ou si vous I’installez dans un nouvel

Sur les trois prises de cour. alt. prévues sur le panneau arriére, celle
marquée “SWITCHED” (commandées) est connectée avec |’inter-
rupteur (POWER) du panneau avant. Elle s’avére utile pour alimenter
des composants de sources de programme tels que tourne-disques, etc.
Les deux autres prises de cour. alt., marquées “UNSWITCHED,” ne
sont pas commandées par |’interrupteur de I’appareil; tant que l’appareil
est branché a une prise murale, les composants connectés sont
également alimentés.
Les prises “SWITCHED” et ‘““UNSWITCHED” ont une capacité de 50
watts et 150 watts respectivement. Ne pas connecter un composant
dont la consommation de puissance dépasse la capacité de chaque prise,
car cela peut 6tre dangereux.
La valeur nominale de consommation de puissance est normalement
indiquée dans le tableau de spécifications du composant, ou parfois sur
\‘équipement lui-méme; ne pas manquer de vérifier ces données.

* Zum AnschlieBen bzw. wenn der Aufstellungsort dieses Gerates
geandert wird, unbedingt den Netzschalter ausschalten und das
Netzkabel abziehen.
* Nicht den rechten Kanal mit dem linken, positive mit negativen
Kabeln bzw. Engange mit Ausgaéngen verwechseln. Nach dem
AnschlieSen unbedingt jede einzelne Komponente iberprifen.
* Nur Verbindungskabel hoher Qualitat benutzen. Auf richtigen
Anschlu& achten und iberpriifen, da& die Kabel nicht beschadigt
sind bzw. Kurzschlu& verursachen. Falscher Anschlu& kann zu
Brumm fithren oder das Gerat beschadigen.
Von den drei Wechselstromsteckdosen an der Riickseite des Gerates
wird die mit “SWITCHED” markierte vom POWER Schalter an der
Vorderseite des Gerates geschaltet. Sie wird praktisch fiir den Antrieb
von Programmkomponenten wie Plattenspieler usw. verwendet. Die
anderen beiden Wechselstromsteckdosen, markiert ‘““UNSWITCHED,”
werden nicht vom POWER Schalter des Gerates geschaltet; sie fiihren
Spannung solange das Gerat ans Netz angeschlossen ist.
Die “SWITCHED” und die ‘’‘“UNSWITCHED” Steckdosen haben eine
Kapazitat von 50 bzw. 150 Watt. SchlieRen Sie keine Geradte an, deren
Stromverbrauch die Kapazitat der Steckdosen tiberschreitet, da dies
sehr gefahrlich ist. Der Stromverbrauch ist normalenweise in den
technischen Einzelheiten eines Gerates, manchmal auch auf dem Gerat
selbst angegebend bitte tberpriifen Sie den Wert.

Breakdown
may
occur
if
you
use
speaker
systems
with
lower-than-specified
impedances.
Follow
this
instruction
strictly
when
driving
two
pairs
of
systems
simultaneously,
Impedance
of
a
speaker
system
is
usually
specified
on
the
unit
itself
or
in
its
instruction
leaflet.
Terminals
tor
the
inputs
and
outputs
are
provided
on
the
side
panels
of
the
unit:
inputs
on
the
right
panel
and
outputs
on
the
left.
Since
they
are
located
near
the
front
panel,
you
can
make
connections
easily
after
simply
pulling
the
unit
out
toward
you.
Connection
cables
can
be
bundled
neatly
when
they
are
run
behind
the
cable
guides.

antenna
provided
inside
the
unit
is
adequate
for
quality
reception
of
nearby
AM
stations.
However,
if
you
cannot
obtain
the
desired
results
with
the
built-in
ferrite
bar
antenna,
connect
a
PVC
cord
to
the
AM
antenna
terminal,
extending
it
outdoors,
if
possible.

recommended
for
very
high-
quality
FM
reception
whether
your
location
is
near
or
far
from
your
favorite
FM
stations.
The
T-shaped
FM
antenna
supplied
should
be
used
only
until
you
install
an
outdoor
antenna.
Notes for installing:
1.

be
installed
as
high
and
as
far
away
as
possible
from
the
street,
railroad
tracks
and
high-tension
lines
which
can
cause
noise.

lead-in
cable
should
be
of
the
75-ohm
coaxial
type,
for
it
suppresses
intrusion
of
noise
more
effectively
than
the
300-ohm
twin
lead
type.

lead-in
cable
should
be
as
short
and
as
far
away
from
power
lines
as
possible.
Simply
cut
off
the
extra
length,
if
any.
Be
sure
not
to
bundle
it
into
a
coil.
FM
antennas
possess
directionality.
Install
a
highly
directional
type
antenna
for
improved
noise-free
reception.
Since
you
have
to
select
the
FM
antenna
and
lead-in
cable
best
suited
for
your
area,
you
are
advised
to
consult
with
your
nearest
electric
appliance
dealer
prior
to
purchase.
Connection:
Use
the
FM
300-ohm
terminals
when
connecting
the
T-shaped
FM
antenna
supplied
or
a
300-ohm
lead-in
cable
from
an
outdoor
antenna.
Use
the
FM
75-ohm
terminals
when
connecting
a
75-ohm
coaxial
cable
from
an
outdoor
antenna.

L‘installation d’une antenne FM extérieure est recommandée pour
obtenir une réception FM de trés bonne qualité, que l’appareil soit a
proximité ou éloigné de la station FM désirée. L’antenne en forme de T
fournie avec l'appareil doit seulement étre utilisée jusqu’a |’installation
de |‘antenne extérieure.
Remarque sur I‘installation:
1. L’antenne doit étre installée aussi haut que possible et le plus loin
qu‘on peut de la rue, des lignes de chemin de fer et des lignes a
haute tension qui risquent de produire des parasites.
2. Le cdble de raccordement doit étre du type coaxial de 75 ohms, car
il supprime les bruits intempestifs plus sGrement que ceux du type
feeder de 300 ohms.-
3. Le cable d’'amenée doit étre le plus court et le plus loin possible des
lignes d’alimentation. Il suffit de supprimer la longueur en excés,
quand il y a lieu. S’assurer de ne pas le mettre en boule.
4. Les antennes FM possédent un sens de direction. Installer une
antenne directionnelle afin d’obtenir une réception a faible bruit
améliorée.
e Pour choisir l’antenne FM et le cdble de raccordement les mieux
appropriés a votre région, nous vous recommandons avant I’achat,
de consulter votre vendeur de matériel électrique le plus proche.
Connexion:
Utiliser les bornes FM de 300 ohms quand vous connectez |’antenne
feeder en forme de T fournie avec |’appareil, ou un cable de 300 ohms
provenant d’une antenne extérieure.
Utiliser les bornes FM de 75 ohms quand vous connectez un cable 75
ohms provenant d‘une antenne extérieure.

Hinweise fir die Installierung:
1. Die Antenne sollte so hoch wie médglich und so weit wie mdglich
von StraRen, Eisenbahnlinien und Hochspannungen entfernt instal-
liert werden, da diese StGrungen verursachen k6nnen.
2. Die Antennenzuleitung solite aus einem 75-Ohm-Koaxialkabel
bestehen, da ein solches Kabel bessere Abschirmung als ein
300-Ohm-Kabel mit Paarverseilung gewdhrleistet.
3. Das Zuleitungskabel sollte so kurz wie médglich sein und von

Panel information
1 POWER Switch
Raise the switch to ON to turn the unit on, flip it down to OFF to turn
it off.
2 POWER Indicator
3 PROTECTOR Indicator
From the moment the power is turned on to the moment the circuits
inside become stabilized, the PROTECTOR indicator keeps flashing on
and off; it turns off only when the circuits are ready for sound repro-
duction. Then the POWER indicator will light and the output terminals
are allowed to send signals to connected speaker systems. The whole
process takes about 10 seconds. ,
If
the
built-in
protection
circuit
is
required
during
sound
reproduction,
the
POWER
indicator
will
be
turned
off and
the
PROTECTOR
indica-
tor
will
flash
to
indicate
an
abnormal
or
unsafe
condition
inside
the
unit.
4 SPEAKERS Switches
They select the speaker systems (A and B) to which signals are sent for
reproduction. When set to ON, the switch permits the unit to send
signals to the selected speaker systems. There are two SPEAKERS
indicators on the front panel that show the speaker systems being
driven at the moment.
@ When the connected speaker systems each have a nominal imped-
ance of less than 8 ohms and when both A and B pairs of speaker
systems are driven simultaneously, the built-in protection circuit
may go into action, interrupting sound from speakers, In such a
case, use only one pair of speaker systems, A or B.

TOR s’‘allumera indiquant ainsi qu’il se passe quelquechose d’anormal
ou de dangeureux a I‘intérieur de l'appareil.
4 Commutateurs d’enceintes acoustiques (SPEAKERS)
Ces commutateurs servent a sélectionner les enceintes acoustiques (A et
B) auxquelles sont envoyées les signaux pour la reproduction. Quand il
est sur la position ON, le commutateur permet a |‘appareil d’envoyer les
signaux aux enceintes acoustiques choisies. Il y a deux voyants SPEAK-
ERS disposés sur le panneau avant qui montre quelle est l’enceinte
acoustique qui fonctionne a ce moment.
@ Quand chacunedes enceintes acoustiques raccordées posséde une
impédance nominale de moins de 8 ohms et quand Jes deux paires
d’enceintes acoustiques A et B sont mises en fonctionnement
simultanément, le circuit de protection incorporé peut se trouver
alors activé, interrompant le son en provenance des enceintes. Dans
un tel cas, if faut n’utiliser qu’une seule paire d’enceintes acous-
tiques, soit A, soit B.

Schalttafelinformation

Stellen Sie den Schalter zum Ejinschaiten des Gerates nach oben auf

Sobald der Netzschalter eingeschalter wird, beginnt die PROTECTOR
Kontrollampe zu blinken, bis sich die Schaltkreis stabolisiert haben;
nach etwa 10 Sekunden Aufwarmzeit erlischt die PROTECTOR
Kontrollampe und die POWER Kontrollampe leuchtet auf, um die
Betriebsbereitschaft des Gerates anzuzeigen. Erst nun werden Signale an
die Lautsprecheranschliisse zur Klangwiedergabe geliefert. Falls die
Schutzschaltung wahrend des Betriebes anspricht, erlischt die POWER
Kontrollampe und die PROTECTOR Kontrollampe beginnt werderum
zu blinken, um eine astabile Situation oder eine Stérung im Gerat
anzuzeigen.
4 Lautsprecherschalter (SPEAKERS)
An dieses Gerat k6nnen bis zu zwei Boxenpaare angeschlossen werden,
die Uber diese beiden Schalter in Betrieb gesetzt werden kénnen. Die
beiden SPEAKERS Kontrollampen auf der Frontplatte zeigen jeweils
das in Betrieb befindliche Boxenpaar an.
@ Wenn zwei Boxenpaare an das Gerat angeschlossen sind und die
Nennimpedanz jeder Box weniger als 8 Ohm betraégt, dann kann
bei gleichzeitigem Betrieb der Boxenpaare A und B die Schutz-
schaltung ansprechen und die: Lautsprecher abschalten. In einem
solchen Fall sollte nur ein Boxenpaar (A oder B) eingeschaltet
werden.

5 Prise de casque-écouteurs (PHONES)
Quand vous désirez écouter de la musique a l'aide d’un casque-
écouteurs, introduire la fiche du casque-écouteurs dans la prise
PHONES et couper les commutateurs SPEAKERS.

6 Indicateur d’alimentation (POWER)
Les indicateurs POWER indiquent la puissance de sortie efficace obte-
nue quand des enceintes acoustiques fonctionnent sous une impédance
de 8 ohms.
Si les enceintes acoustiques connectées ont une impédance différente de
8 ohms, on pourra corriger la puissance de sortie en multipliant la
valeur indiquée en watts par 8 ohms divisée par l’impédance des
enceintes acoustiques (ohms). Ainsi, quand Jes indicateurs marquent 10
watts, on aura en réalité 20 watts sous 4 ohms (10 watts x 8/4 = 20
watts).
7 Bouton sélecteur (SELECTOR)
Régler sur la source de programme (disque, émission, etc.) que l’on
désire écouter.
AUX: Pour reproduire n’‘importe quelle source de pro-
gramme connectée aux entrées AUX.
PHONO-1,2: Pour passer des disques.
FM AUTO: Pour recevoir des émissions mono ou FM stéréo.
Quand une émission FM stéréo est recue, l’indicateur
FM STEREO s’allume.
AM: Pour recevoir des émissions AM.
5 Kopfhorerbuchse (PHONES)
Fur ungestortes HOrvergniigen ein Paar HiFi-Stereo-Kopfhérer an die
PHONES Buchse anschlieBen und die beiden SPEAKERS Schalter
abschalten,
@ Werden die Kopfhdrer nicht verwendet, dieses unbedingt vom
Gerat abtrennen.
6 Leistungsmesser (POWER)
Die POWER Messer zeigen den effektiven Leistungsausgang bei Betrieb
von Lautsprechern mit 8 Ohm |Impedanz an.
Wenn die angeschlossenen Lautsprecher eine andere impedanz als 8
Ohm haben, so erhalten Sie den korrekten Leistungsausgang durch
Multiplikation des angezeigten Wattwertes mit 8 Ohm und Division
durch die Impedanz (Ohm) der Lautsprecher. Wenn die Leistungsmesser
z.B. 10 Watt anzeigen, so haben Sie tatsachlich 20 Watt an 4 Ohm (10
Watt x 8/4 = 20 Watt).
7 Wahlschalter (SELECTOR)
Stellen Sie die Programmaquelle (Plattenspieler, Radio usw.) ein, die Sie
hdren wollen.
AUX: Wiedergabe der an die Klemmen AUX angeschlossenen
Programmauelle.
PHONO-1, 2: Fir das Abspielen von Schaliplatten.
FM AUTO: Fur den Empfang von UKW Stereo- oder Mono-Sen-
dungen. Wenn eine UKW-Stereo-Sendung empfangen
