Installation & commissioning
Initial operation
●If the coffee machine and/or accessories are transported at temperatures below 10°C, the coffee
machine and/or accessories must be stored for 3 hours at room temperature before the coffee
machine and/or accessories are connected to the mains and switched on. Failure to observe this
precaution can result in a danger of short-circuit or damage to electrical components.
●Always use the new hose set (fresh water/outlet hose) provided with the machine!
Setup conditions
Location
The installation location must meet the following conditions:
●Before setting up the coffee machine, ensure that it is not placed on hot surfaces or close to an oven.
●The machine is not suitable for outdoor use. Do not expose the coffee machine to outside weather condi-
tions such as rain, snow, frost, etc.
●The coffee machine is not suitable for installing on a surface which is cleaned by a hose.
●Install the device only in locations where it is supervised by trained personnel.
●The installation surface must be stable and level and must not become deformed under the weight of the
coffee machine.
Ambient conditions
The installation location requires the following climatic conditions:
●Ambient temperature of 10 °C to 40 °C (50 °F to 104 °F)
●Relative humidity maximum 80% rh
●The coffee machine is designed for indoor use only.
●Protect the device from frost. If the coffee machine has been exposed to minus temperatures, contact a
customer service representative authorised by the manufacturer before using the machine.
Installation conditions
Preparatory structural work must be commissioned by the machine supplier. It must be carried out by licensed
installers observing all general as well as locally applicable regulations. Schaerer AG service technicians may
only connect the device to the prepared connections. They are neither authorised to carry out structural instal-
lation, nor are they responsible for its implementation.
Ambient temperature + 10°C to max. + 35°C (if there is a danger of frost, drain the water sys-
tem)
Humidity Relative humidity maximum 80% rh
Setup distances The coffee machine should be set up according to the following requi-
rements:
●The required supply terminals must be within one meter of the installati-
on location according to the structural installation plans.
●Observe the technical data.
●Maintain the following clearances for maintenance work and operation:
- At the top, maintain clearance for adding beans
- On the left side, maintain a clearance of ± 35 cm
- Between the rear panel of the device and the wall, maintain a
minimum clearance of 15 cm for air circulation
●Observe and comply with all applicable local kitchen regulations.

The electrical power supply must be connected in accordance with the applicable regulations (VDE 0100)
and the regulations of the country of installation. Type of power cable at least H05 RN-F. The voltage spe-
cified on the serial plate must match the supply voltage at the installation location.
●The phase must be fused at the ampere value specied on the serial plate.
●It must be possible to disconnect the device from the mains power supply at all poles.
●Never operate a device with a damaged power cord. Have a defective power cord or plug replaced
immediately by a qualied service technician.
●Schaerer AG recommends against using an extension cable. If, despite this, an extension cable is
used (minimum cross-section: 1.5 mm2), observe the manufacturer data for the cable (operating
instructions) and the locally applicable regulations.
●The mains cables must be installed in such a way that they do not present a tripping hazard. Do
not pull the cords over corners or sharp edges, pinch them between objects or allow them to hang
loosely in a room. Do not position cables over hot objects and protect them from exposure to oil
and aggressive cleaning products.
●Never lift or pull the device by the power cable. Never pull the plug out of the socket by its cord.
Never touch the power cord or plug with wet hands! Never insert a wet plug into a power socket!
Serial plate
Machine-specific data (voltage/output) can be found on the serial plate. It is located on the right panel of
the grounds container shaft. The grounds container must be removed first.

Service program installation
►Double-clicking on the "SCJ Service Vx.xx.msi" le starts the installation (see Figure: "Service
program installation"). Software version V1.0 or newer must be installed.
►Follow the instructions of the installation program.
Attention! When using Windows Vista or Windows 7, the installation path must be manually
dened (C:\Programme\Schaerer\CoffeeJoy\).
USB driver installation
►Double-clicking on the "CDM 2.06.00.exe" le starts the installation (see Figure: "USB driver
installation").
►Follow the instructions of the installation program.
USB serial port conguration
►Connect the coffee machine and the computer using a USB A-B cable.
►Open the USB cover on the right side (rst remove the drinking water tank and then pull the
cover downward).
►Connect the USB connection cable (see Figure: USB connection with the machine).

►Press the [ On/Off ] button (see Figure: "Switching on the coffee machine").
;Windows will now nd new hardware and automatically install the right driver (see
Figure: "New hardware found").
►Start the Windows device manager using the [ Windows key + Pause button ] key combi-
nation.
►Select the device manager.
►Select the "Ports (COM & LPT)" item.
►Double-click on [ USB Serial Port (COM X) ].
►In the "USB Serial Port Properties" menu, change to the [ Port Settings ] tab and press [ Ad-
vanced... ] (see Figure: "USB serial port properties").
►In the "Advanced Settings for COM X" under [ COM Port Number], select COM 2 or COM 3
(even if "in use" is displayed).

►Conrm all menus with [ OK ] and close the device manager.
Starting communication
►Connect the coffee machine and the computer using a USB A-B cable.
►Remove the drinking water tank.
►Open the USB cover on the right side (pull the cover downward).
►Attach the USB connection cable (see Figure: "USB connection with the machine").
►Start the service program.
►Press the [ On/Off ] button (see Figure: "Switching on the coffee machine").
►Start the service program.
►Conrm the service site number "0" with "OK".
Machine "Offline":
►Press the [ Start ] button to connect the machine to the PC.
Machine connected with the PC:
If the connection cannot be established, see „USB serial port conguration“ auf Seite 10
and/or „Communication settings“ auf Seite 13 to create the correct communication settings.

Communication settings
The communication settings can only be displayed and changed when the machine is "Off-
line" (see Figure: „Machine „Offline“:“ auf Seite 12). It may be necessary to press the
[ Stop ] button first.
Extras - Options
To display/change the communication settings:
►Select [ Extras ] (see Figure: "Extras - Options").
►Select [ Options ].
;The "System options" window opens (see Figure: "System options").
►Under "COM Port (USB)" select the same COM port as selected in the settings described in
Chapter "USB Serial Port" (see „USB serial port con guration“ auf Seite 10).
►To store the settings and leave the menu, press "OK".
►The baud rate must be set to 19200
The "Data storage" tab (see Figure: "System options") shows locations in which the data are
stored (presetting).

Service program language
The language of the service program can only be changed when the machine is "Offline" (see
Figure: „Machine „Offline“:“ auf Seite 12). The [ Stop ] button may have to be pressed first.
Extras - Language
To change the service program language:
►Select the desired language.
►Con rm with the [OK] button.
The language displayed on the machine is changed on the „Parameters tab“ auf Seite 26
or directly on the machine.

Commissioning
►Press the [ System status ] button in the main menu or in the menu bar (see Figure: "System
status"). It can also be selected by pressing the right mouse button and selecting "System
status".
►Start communication by pressing the [ Start ] button (see Figure: "System status - Start").
Data cannot be changed in the "System status" menu. The system status is an overview only.

1Start/stop communication with the machine. Changes ap-
pear directly on the screen if the machine is "online".

●Green = ready for use
●Grey = stand-by
●Yellow = coin tester enabled
●Red = fault
4Number of selected products.
5Coffee brewing time in seconds (brewing valve opening
time).
6Effective preparation time of the selected product.
7Beverage being dispensed (only if currently dispensing).
8Heat the coffee and/or steam boiler.
9Beverage dispensing is locked (for example, grounds con-
tainer not in place, water tank empty).
10 Activated when a beverage is being dispensed.
11 Activated when no beans are in the bean hopper.
12 Activated when no water is in the drinking water tank.
13 Activated when the owmeter does not indicate a water ow.
14 Activated when the brewing water temperature is not
reached.
15 Activated when the steam temperature is not reached.
16 Activated when a coffee product is being dispensed.
17 Activated when a milk product is being dispensed.
18 Display of the current status.
19 [ EXIT ] button.
20 Current brewing temperature in °C.
21 Current steam temperature in °C.
22 Programmed switch-off delay.
23 Selected aroma preselection.
The function of the switches and sensors, as well as
the various operating states and system settings, can
be tested and monitored in the "System status" menu.
