Principles
Use only with the maximum speeds specified by the manufacturer. Use only tools which
are approved by the manufacturer/dealer for the application and performance data of

protective clothing.

4 Technical description
Overview
The system is a modern workplace system designed for universal use in
dental laboratories for the processing of crowns and bridges, as well as plastic and cast-
models. The optionally available wax knife also allows for the modelling of waxes.
is available in three different control variants: knee control (SK), foot control
(SF) and table control (ST).

Function description
The handpiece is used as a hand-held grinding or separating tool. The handpiece speed is
limited through the operating unit and its touch-sensitive surface. Depending on the ver-
sion, the speed is variably controlled via the knee plate, foot lever or the connected dy-
namic foot pedal (table control unit only).
Interfaces
The control units of the feature the following interfaces to other machines:
Connection for controlling extraction systems. The pulse emitter for the extraction signal
must be connected in order to operate the in conjunction with an automatic
workstation extraction system. This is plugged into the pulse transmitter for suction of the
control unit as shown in the figure, and on the other end into the corresponding socket of
the workplace extraction system. If the is operated with a KaVo SMARTair
Single Workstation Extraction unit or a Zubler AP 501 Extraction Point Opener, the op-
tional control line Article no. 9229 can be used for connection and to establish the
switching signal.
Characteristics of the tools
Only tools with perfect concentricity may be used. The shaft diameter may be 2.35 mm or
3 mm, depending on the chuck variant.

If external damage to the packaging is visible upon delivery of the goods, this must be im-
mediately communicated to the carrier and confirmed in writing. The damage must then
be immediately reported to Schick GmbH.

Required tools
For knee control/table control: screwdriver, possibly a drill/cordless screwdriver for fas-
tening the suspension strip.
Safety precautions before installation
Unplug the power cord before working on the electrical equipment.
Installation
Installation of the suspension strip for the knee control unit or hidden installation of the
table control unit.

1. The suspension strip is provided with spacers, which serve as a stop for correct positioning
of the knee control unit.
To do so, position the suspension strip on the worktable as shown in the figure and fasten
with the screws provided. After assembly, simply break off the spacers on the suspension
strip.

2. To mount the knee control device, place the recessed backside on the suspension strip
and push it backwards until you can feel it latch in.
Fixing the power supply
Fasten the power supply with the velcro provided.
The included self-adhesive velcro can be used to fasten the power supply in the footwell of the
worktable.
1. Remove one of the two protective foils from the velcro strip and adhere it to the power
supply.
2. Remove the second protective foil from the velcro strip and adhere the power supply to a
clean, dry and flat surface.
Avoid continuous tensile loads on the power supply caused by improperly
laid cables!

Commissioning
Establish power supply
Connect the motor handpiece to the "MI" socket. Connect the operating unit to the control
unit with the cable.
Optional: Insert the plug of the electrical wax knife into the control unit connector.
Insert the AC adapter plug into the power socket of the control unit. Connect the power
cord to the power supply.
Do not plug in the power cord until the handpiece and the operating unit
have been correctly connected to the control unit (100 - 230 Volt, 50/60 Hz)
The device switches on as soon as the power supply is established.

After switching on, the LCD display of the operating unit informs you about
all operating conditions of the device.
In particular, the following parameters are displayed:

Readiness indicator : (Switched on/off) The display shows "OFF" when the
is switched off.

Ready for operation : The display shows the preselected maximum speed and the direc-
tion of rotation.

Operating state: The speed symbol is lit continuously when the motor is running and
flashes when the motor is stopped.

Speed: Indicates the pre-set maximum speed (x 1000)
-
Load/torque: The bar display shows the power currently used by the motor when
loaded. If all bars are shown and the handpiece is continually used, the safety switch
will turn off the motor.

Electric wax knife: An illuminated symbol indicates whether the optional electric wax
knife is operational.

Electric wax knife adjustment: Indicates the pre-set heating value
