1. Product Introduction
The SC38.MX16 is a professional 4K 16 x 16 HDBaseT Matrix Switcher that
accommodates 16 HDMI inputs, 14 HDBaseT with 2 HDMI outputs, and 16 stereo audio
outputs, with IR for each zones.
The matrix switching is achieved by either touch-screen panel buttons, IR, RS232, or
GUI. The selected source is delivered to HDBaseT outputs 1~14 & HDMI outputs 15~16.
HDBaseT outputs extend up to 70m at 1080p and 40m at 4Kx2K on a single CAT5e/6
connection with compatible HDBaseT receivers (such as SC38.MX16-RX) while also
providing power for the receiver simultaneously. The unit also supports EDID
management.
1.1 Features
§4K 16 x 16 HDBaseT Matrix Switcher that accommodates 16 HDMI inputs, 14
HDBaseT with 2 HDMI outputs, and 16 stereo audio outputs, with IR for each zones.
§Supports 4Kx2K@60Hz &1080p 3D signals.
§Transmits 4Kx2K signal for 26 ft (8m) via HDMI port and 131 ft (40m) via HDBaseT
port.
§Transmits 1080p signal 230 ft (70m) via HDBaseT port.
§Features 48VDC PoH (Power over HDBaseT) technology, providing power for the
receivers - Receivers sold separately, Part # SC38.MX16-RX.
§HDCP 2.2 compatible, supports manual HDCP management and auto-detecting.
§Powerful EDID management.
§LCD screen shows real-time I/O connection status, switching status, HDCP status,
and output resolution.
§Controllable via touch-screen front panel, RS232, IR and TCP/IP.
§Supports bi-directional IR & RS232 control.
§Built-in GUI for TCP/IP control.
§Features off memory for reliable operation - input and output mapping is
automatically stored and recalled when the unit is powered on and off and in the
event of a power outage.

3. Panel Description
3.1 Front Panel
①Firmware: Micro USB port for updating firmware.
②LCD Screen: Display real-time operation status.
③Power Indicator: Green when power on / Red when in standby mode.
④ACT Indicator: Green when serial Communication.
⑤IR Indicator: Blinks red when IR signal input.
⑥Built-in IR Receiver: Receives IR signal to control this unit.
⑦INPUT selection buttons: Bi-colour back-lit buttons, ranging from 0~9.
⑧OUTPUTS/Built-in EDID selection buttons: Bi-colour back-lit buttons, ranging from
0~9. Long-press EDID button for 3 seconds or more to enter EDID mode, buttons
1~6 correspond to the 6 embedded EDID data separately.
⑨ALL: Select all inputs/outputs.
Example: To transfer both AV and IR signals from input to all output zones.
Operation: Press buttons in this order: INPUT#, ALL, ENTER.
⑩EDID management button: Enable input port to manually capture and learn the
EDID data of output devices.
Example: Input channel No.2 captures and learns the EDID data of output channel
No.4. Operation: Press buttons in this order: EDID, INPUT #, OUTPUT # ENTER.
CLEAR: Withdraw current operation and return to the previous status.
ENTER: Confirm operation. Press and hold it for 3 seconds to enter inquiry mode.

NOTE:
§Slide your finger left and right on front panel to awake touch panel until the buttons
show white backlight. If without any operations within 8 seconds, touch panel will
enter sleep mode and the white backlight will goes out.
§Press any button when the touch panel is awaking, the white backlight will turn into
blue.
§Press the button of IR remote, the corresponding button on touch panel will show
blue backlight.
3.1 Rear Panel
①HDMI INPUTS: HDMI input ports, 16 in total, connects with HDMI source devices.
②IR IN: 16 in total, connects with IR Receiver (with carrier):
§Works with IR OUT on the corresponding far-end HDBaseT Receiver to extend
IR signal to control the display device (e.g. HDTV).
§Works with IR OUT on the Matrix Switcher to control the corresponding input
source device (e.g. Blu-ray DVD). The port number of IR OUT is same as the
HDMI input port.
③IR OUT: 16 in total, connects with IR Emitter:
§ Works with IR IN on the corresponding far-end HDBaseT Receiver to deliver the
IR signal from the far-end HDBaseT Receiver to control the source device (e.g.
Blu-ray DVD).

§ Works with IR IN on the Matrix Switcher to control the corresponding input
source device (e.g. Blu-ray DVD). The port number of IR OUT is same as the
HDMI input port.
④AUDIO OUTPUTS: 16 in total, stereo audio output ports.
⑤HDBaseT OUTPUTS: 14 in total, output extension ports, works with HDBaseT
Receivers to extend AV/IR/RS232 signals via CAT5e/6 cables and power the
Receivers based on PoC technology.
⑥HDMI OUTPUTS: 2 in total, HDMI output ports.
⑦IR EYE: Connects with extended IR receiver to control the Matrix Switch by using
the included IR Remote.
⑧RS232: Serial port, connects with control device (e.g. PC) via the included RS232
cable.
⑨TCP/IP: Connects with control device (e.g. PC) for unit control.
⑩Power port: Connect with 100~240V AC outlet via the included power cord.
Earthling point: Ground connection.

4. Connection Diagram
As its good performance in control and transmission, the SC38.MX16 can be widely
used in computer realm, monitoring, large screen displaying, conference system,
television education and bank securities institutions etc.
§Verify all components and accessories included before installation.
§System should be installed in a clean environment with proper temperature and
humidity.
§All of the power switches, plugs, sockets and power cords should be insulated and
safe.
§All devices should be connected before power on.
Connect and Operation:
①Connect HDMI sources (e.g. STB or Blu-ray DVD) to the HDMI input pots (1~16)
with HDMI cables.
②Connect HDBaseT receivers to the HDBaseT output ports (1~16) with twisted pair.
③Connect HDMI displays (e.g. HDTV) to HDMI output ports of Matrix or the
HDBaseT Receivers with HDMI cables.
④Connect speakers/zone amp/AV Receiver, etc. to AUDIO output ports (1~16).
⑤Connect IR Receiver to the IR IN ports of Matrix or the HDBaseT Receivers

as you need
⑥Connect IR Emitter to the IR OUT ports of SC38.MX16 or the HDBaseT Receivers
as you need.
⑦Connect the control device (e.g. Control System, PC) to the RS232 port of either the
SC38.MX16 or far-end HDBaseT Receivers. RS232 signal can be transmitted bi-
directionally between SC38.MX16 and far-end HDBaseT Receivers.
⑧Connect the control device (e.g. PC) to the TCP/IP port for GUI control.
⑨Connect an AC 100V~240V power outlet and the SC38.MX16 with the AC power
cord.
NOTE:
§Connect HDBT ports of SC38.MX16 and far-end receiver with straight-through
cable.
§IR Receivers connected to IR IN should be with carrier. If not, send
command %0900. or %0901.to enter following mode or force mode in the IR matrix
launched between SC38.MX16 and far-end receivers.
§ The SC38.MX16 boasts 14 HDBaseT output ports supported PoC. The
corresponding HDBaseT Receiver don’t need to connect power adaptor when the
SC38.MX16 is connected to 100V~240V power outlet via the included power cord.

5. Button Control
The Matrix Switcher provides with convenient button control for I/O switch, EDID
management, and system inquiry. Here we make a brief introduction to the operations.
5.1 Connection Switching
Input/ output channels are recognized in double-digit, press 01~16 for channel 1~16.
l To switch one input to an output
Operation: INPUT# + OUTPUT# + ENTER;
Example: Input 1 to output 5:

NOTE: In default status, 16 IR OUT ports correspond with 16 HDMI INPUTS. When you
switch an HDMI input, the corresponding IR OUT will be switched synchronously.
l To switch an input to several outputs
Operation: INPUT# + OUTPUT# + OUTPUT# +…+ ENTER;
Example: Input 2 to outputs 2, 4:

5.2 EDID Management
SC38.MX16 features EDID management to maintain compatibility between all devices. It
can be controlled via EDID learning and EDID invoking.
5.2.1 EDID Learning
l One input port learns the EDID data of one output port
Operation: EDID + INPUT# + OUTPUT# + ENTER.
Example: Input 1 learns EDID data from output 10:

l Several input ports learns the EDID data of one output port
Operation: EDID + INPUT# + INPUT# +…+ OUTPUT# + ENTER.
Example: Input 1, 2 learn EDID data from output 10:

5.2.2 Embedded EDID
This Matrix Switcher features 6 types of embedded EDID for choice.
The buttons OUTPUT 1~6 represent the embedded EDID data 1~6, the chart below
shows the detail information:

l To invoke the embedded EDID for one input.
Operation: Long-press EDID for 3 seconds to enter EDID configuration mode, and then
press INPUTS# + OUTPUT# + ENTER.
Example: Invoke the first type of embedded EDID for INPUT 4.
Press (hold for 3 seconds) INPUT: OUTPUT:
l To invoke the embedded EDID for several input.
Operation: Long-press EDID for 3 seconds to enter EDID configuration mode, and then
press INPUTS# + INPUTS# +…+ OUTPUT# + ENTER.

5.3 Inquiry
Press and hold the button ENTER for 3 seconds to enter system inquiry mode, and then
press INPUT 3/4 to select previous/next item, press INPUT 1/2 to turn previous/next
page. The chart below shows information that can be inquired:

6. IR Control
By using IR & HDBaseT transmission technology, the SC38.MX16 has some functions
as follows:
§Control the SC38.MX16.
§Control the source device locally.
§Control the source device remotely.
§Control far-end display device locally.
6.1 Control the SC38.MX16
Connect an IR receiver to the IR EYE port, you can control SC38.MX16 through the
included Matrix IR Remote, please refer to 5.5 Matrix IR Remote for more details about
its usage.
6.2 Control the Source Device Locally
Connect IR Receiver(s) to IR IN ports, and IR Emitter(s) to IR OUT ports on the
SC38.MX16, and then the local source device (e.g. DVD) can be control via its IR
Remote from local.
In default status, 16 IR OUT ports correspond with 16 HDMI INPUTS. When you switch
an HDMI input, the corresponding IR OUT will be switched synchronously.
l 1 to 1
Example: Switch HDMI input 3 to HDBaseT output 4.
Connect one IR Receiver to IR IN 4 port on SC38.MX16, and one IR Emitter to IR
OUT 3 port, the connection diagram shown as below:

6.3 Control the Source Device Remotely
Connect IR Receiver(s) to IR IN ports on the HDBaseT Receiver, and IR Emitter(s) to IR
OUT ports on the SC38.MX16, and then the local source device (e.g. DVD) can be
control via its IR Remote from remote.

Example: Switch HDMI input 3 to HDBaseT output 4.
Connect one IR Receiver to IR IN port on HDBaseT Receiver which is connected to
HDBaseT output 4 port, and one IR Emitter to IR OUT 3 port on SC38.MX16, the
connection diagram shown as below:
