BEFORE BEGINNING
Check all vehicle manufacturer cautions and warnings regarding electrical service (AIR BAGS, ABS
BRAKES, ENGINE/BODY COMPUTER AND BATTERY).
PLAN OUT YOUR INSTALLATION
You should pre-determine the location of the microphone, keypad controller and electronics box. This
will save time and ease the installation process.
USE A VOLT/OHM METER
We recommend the use of a Volt/Ohm meter to test and locate all connections. Test lights could possibly
damage a vehicle’s computer system or cause an airbag to deploy.
DO NOT ROUTE ANY WIRING THAT MAY BECOME ENTANGLED with the brake/gas pedals,
steering column, or any other moving parts in the vehicle.
MICROPHONE
For best performance, the BT1200 microphone must be pointed toward the direction of the driver’s
voice. We recommend choosing a location between the rear-view mirror and sun visor. The microphone
can also be mounted near the top of the A-pillar (windshield post).
ELECTRONICS BOX
Mount the BT1200 electronics box behind the stereo. Do not mount the electronics box near sources of
high heat, moisture or moving parts. Hardware is included to attach the BT1200 box to the vehicle.
KEYPAD CONTROLLER
The keypad is designed to easily mount in a blank switch plate, dash panel or center console. Carefully
choose a location that is within easy reach of the driver. Drilling is required to mount the keypad.

LISTENING TO MUSIC FROM EXTERNAL AUDIO DEVICE
Connect the 3.5mm jack to your audio device and the BT1200 electronics box. Press and hold
“BACK” [Left directional button] for 3 seconds to switch on “Line in” function. A Red LED will
illuminate from the BT1200 controller indicating that it’s in “Line in” mode. If you receive an
incoming call while listening to the Line in source, press the “FWD [Right directional symbol]” to
answer the call. Music is muted until you end the call.
Press and hold the “BACK” [Left directional symbol] button 3 seconds again to switch off Line in
function. The Red LED will turn off.
WIRELESS MUSIC (With supported A2DP/AVRCP devices)
Listen to music from your mobile phone and/or other Bluetooth device is easy using the BT1200.
Read the following notes to become more familiar with how your BT1200 system integrates
between wireless music and phone operation.
3.5MM AUX INPUT
You can also listen to music via a wired connection from any portable device that has a standard
3.5mm headphone jack. (3.5mm cable is not included with BT1200) Note that a cable must be
run from the BT1200 electronics box to a conveniently accessible location in your vehicle.
A2DP/AVRCP NOTES:
If your phone is paired to the BT1200 and supports BOTH Hands free HFP and Streaming Audio
A2DP then playing music and handling call should operate seamlessly. If you choose to have a
second separate A2DP device transmit audio to the BT1200, it must be paired separately. In the
case of a second device for wireless audio, make sure your phone is not currently paired to the
BT1200’s A2DP profile otherwise you will not hear music from the secondary device.
CALLS DURING MUSIC
To answer an incoming call while the music is playing press the “FWD” [Right directional symbol]
to answer. Music is muted until you end the call.
PLAY/PAUSE MUSIC
Press the Multi-Function Button [MFB] to Play or Pause music playing.
TRACK FF/RR
To track Forward Press the “FWD” [Right directional symbol] button to the next track (or tracks).
To track Backward Press the “BACK” [Left directional symbol] button to the previous track (or
tracks).
ADJUSTING MUSIC VOLUME
To increase volume (during music play), Press the “+” button to increase until desired level.
To decrease volume (during music play), Press the “-” button to decrease until desired level.

IMPORTANT PHONEBOOK NOTES:
The BT1200 can store up to 1000 contacts ONLY. When/if the memory is full, the system will
announce: “Phonebook is full”. If there is a failure during the process, the car kit will announce:
“Loading phonebook failed”. Please check your phone to find out if it has phonebook support
or the ability to allow your contacts to be “pulled” from another Bluetooth device. The BT1200
system may NOT be compatible with your particular phonebook due to the wide range of contact
and object profiles available in today’s mobile device market.
DELETE CURRENT PHONEBOOK
The BT1200 does NOT support multiple phonebooks from more than one mobile phone. You
may therefore choose to delete the current phonebook so that another mobile phone’s can con-
nected to upload its phonebook. To Remove Phonebook Entries (not during a phone call), press
and hold the “-” button for 6 seconds. The system will announce: “Phonebook Deleted”. Entire
phonebook memory in the BT1200 will be deleted.
RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS
To restore your BT1200 handsfree kit to its original settings, press and hold the “-” button for 10
seconds until the Blue LED light flashes rapidly, the BT1200 will power off automatically. This
process is complete when BT1200 kit announces “Set Factory Default Complete”.

INSTALLATION
STANDARD INSTALLATION
Use the Speaker Input/Output connections on the 20-PIN Speaker / Power / Mute ISO
connector.
NOTE: Option ISO-to-Vehicle specific harness connector kits are available to make the BT1200
a plug and play installation. These harness connector kits sold separately and not included with
the BT1200 (See T-Harness section on page 5).
1. Locate the 4 speakers outputs of the vehicles stereo.
2. Cut and connect input wires of the BT1200 (Pin#3-#10) to the vehicle’s speaker outputs
coming directly from the stereo side.
3. Connect the BT1200 speaker output wires (Pin#13-#20) to the remaining speaker leads that
go directly to the vehicles front and rear speakers.
OPTIONAL MUTE
CONNECTION
The BT1200 provides a Negative
(-) Mute output for use with stereo’s
that have a compatible Negative
(-) “Mute” input to attenuate the
Audio during Hands-free kit use. See
the DIAGRAM for typical connec-
tion types. The BROWN Mute wire
provides a Negative (-) output when
there is an active incoming or outgo-
ing call.
MUTE FUNCTION (Brown Negative
Trigger Wire)
The BT1200 supports mute func-
tionality ensuring that the stereo will
not play audio during cellular use. If
you’ve installed the BT1200 in the
standard method using the input/
output speaker wires provided, then
your stereo should automatically
be muted by the BT1200. If you
have a Premium sound system with
additional speakers like one or more
subwoofers, you may be able to
utilize the Negative MUTE output pro-
vided by the BT1200. Check your
Stereo’s documentation to determine
whether it has a designated Negative
Mute INPUT. If this is the case, then
tap the Brown wire of the BT1200
to the MUTE wire of your stereo.
During phone calls the BT1200 will
send a Negative Ground signal to the
BROWN wire.

ADJUSTING CURRENT CALL VOLUME
To increase the volume during the call, press the “+” button to increase volume by one level,
repeat this procedure until you have reached the desired level.
To decrease the volume during the call, Press “-” button to decrease the volume by one level,
repeat this procedure until you have reached the desired level.
MUTE MICROPHONE
During a call, press and hold the “BACK [Left directional symbol]” button for 3 seconds to mute
the microphone. Press and hold the “BACK [Left directional symbol]” button AGAIN for 3
seconds to turn the MIC back ON.
ANSWER or REJECT SECOND CALLS
To answer a second incoming call: During a call, when another call occurs, short press the
“FWD” [Right directional symbol] button to pick up the call and the first call will be placed on
hold.
To reject a second incoming call: During a call, when another call occurs, short press the “BACK
[Left directional symbol]” button to reject the call and send it to your phone’s voicemail.
SWAPPING CALLS
During a Three-way call (you and two others), press the “FWD” [Right directional symbol] for
3secs to swap the call
During a Three-way call, short press the “BACK [Left directional symbol]” button to end the cur-
rent call and another call will be active automatically
TRANSFERRING CALLS
Handsfree kit to Mobile Phone:
During a call, press the Multi-Function Button [MFB] twice, and the call is routed to your mobile
phone.
Mobile Phone to Handsfree kit:
Press the “Multi-Function Button [MFB]” button once to route the call to the BT1200 handsfree
kit.
TEXT-TO-SPEECH (Voice Announce) LANGUAGE
While NOT on a phone call, press and hold the “+” button for 3 seconds and the Handsfree kit
announces “Select Language”. Repeat the process to select the desired language in the follow-
ing order of English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
ADJUSTING TEXT-TO-SPEECH (Voice Announce) VOLUME
To increase the volume (Not during a phone call), Press the “+” button to increase Text-To-
Speech voice volume you will hear “Activated“.
To decrease the volume press the “-” button to decrease Text-To-Speech voice volume you will
e hear “Activated “. The word “Activated” means nothing. It is just an announcement provided
to determine the volume output.
TURNING ON/OFF TEXT-TO-SPEECH (Voice Announce)
Press and hold the “+” for 6 seconds (not during a phone call). “Voice Prompt On” or “Voice
Prompt Off” is announced to denote the current status.
TRANSFERRING MOBILE PHONEBOOK TO HANDSFREE KIT
Make sure to have your phone connected to the BT1200 system before this operation.
1. Press the “-” button for 3 seconds and the Blue LED light indicator comes on. The BT1200
system will announce ” Loading phonebook. Please wait”, when it begins to receive
phonebook information from your phone.
2. I can take some time to load your phones contacts. During the process the BT1200 will
announce: “Please wait” every 30 seconds.
3. When the process is completed, the BT1200 systems announces “Contacts Saved” and
states the number of contacts received from your mobile phone memory or SIM memory.

LOW-LEVEL AUDIO INSTALLATION
Use the Line-Level Input/Output con-
nections on the 8-PIN connector.
NOTE: This option is for use with
existing
Factory-amplified sound systems.
The BT1200 provides a 2-channel
Low-level input output switching for
pre-amplifier installation.
1. Locate the pre-amp audio outputs
of the vehicle stereo.
2. Cut and connect input wires of the
BT1200 8-Pin harness (Pin#5-#8)
to the vehicle’s audio outputs
coming directly from the stereo side.
3. Connect the BT1200 low-level
output wires (Pin #1-#4) to the
remaining audio signal leads that go
directly to the vehicle’s amplifier.
“T”-HARNESS ACCESSORY
(Sold separately)
To simplify BT1200 installation, vehicle specific T-Harnesses are available to adapt the BT1200
ISO connectors to your vehicle’s Factory wire harness connectors. T-harness allows you to eas-
ily install the BT1200 system in your vehicle without the need for cutting and splicing wiring.
T Harnesses are sold separately and available for most popular vehicle makes and models
including GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, Nissan and more. Call Scosche [phone] or
go to www.scosche.com to find the right harness for your vehicle.

CONNECTION
If the BT1200 and the mobile phone are disconnected, the connection may be restored by the
following:
1. If the BT1200 has been switched off, turn on power and the connection will be restored
automatically if set as a trusted device on your mobile phone.
2. If the mobile phone has been switched off, turn on the mobile phone and restore the
connection either through the phone’s menu or by pressing the Multi-Function Button [MFB] once.
3. If the BT1200 and phone are out of range, make sure the devices are within working range
(30Feet / 10Meters) and press the Multi-Function Button [MFB] once. Note: Once the
connection is successful the BT1200 will announce “Phone is ready for use,” and the blue
LED will flash once every 3 seconds. This is known as “STANDBY MODE”.
DISCONNECTION
If the BT1200 needs to be disconnected from the phone connection (Example: To connect your
phone to another device) the phone may be disconnected using any of the following:
1. Turn off the BT1200 or vehicle.
2. Disconnect the BT1200 using the phone’s Bluetooth menu.
Note: Once disconnect is successful the BT1200 will announce “Disconnect complete.” The
BT1200 will automatically shut off after being disconnected from a paired device for more than
10 minutes.
PLACING CALLS
You can initiate calls from your mobile phone, or directly from your BT1200 Car kit using voice
dialing commands (if this feature is supported by your mobile phone)
Making calls using voice dialing: If your mobile handset is voice dialing enabled, press and
hold the “FWD [Right directional symbol]” button on the controller for 3 seconds. You hear a
beep, say the voice tag.
IMPORTANT: Please make sure to record voice tag into the mobile handset before using voice
dialing function. This function is only applicable to mobile
handsets with Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile AND Voice Dialing capability. Voice dialing TAGS
are stored on your phone and NOT by the BT1200 system. Functionality varies depending
on the mobile handset models you have. Please refer to your mobile handset user guide for
additional information. Scosche highly recommends using the voice dial feature (if your phone
is equipped) to reduce handset use while driving. In some states handset usage while driving is
illegal. (Check your local or state motor vehicle code)
CALLING FROM YOUR MOBILE PHONE
Dial directly from your mobile phone. The call is automatically connected to the BT1200
handsfree kit.
RECEIVING CALLS
Upon an incoming call, you will hear the caller ID information announced through your car stereo
system: ”Call from (Name or Digits)”; press the “FWD [Right directional symbol]” button on the
Car kit to answer the call.
ENDING CALLS
During the call, press the “BACK [Left directional symbol]” button end the call. You will hear the
BT1200 system announce: ”End call”.
REJECTING CALLS
Upon an incoming call, press the “BACK [Left directional symbol]” button to reject the call and
send to your phone’s voicemail. The BT1200 system will announce: ”Reject call successful”.
LAST NUMBER RE-DIALING
Press the Multi-Function Button [MFB] twice to redial the last number; The BT1200 system will
announce: “Redialing”.

OPERATION
EASY PAIRING
Note: The BT1200 must be paired with your mobile phone before use. The BT1200 includes an
“Easy” pairing feature that will automatically re-connect it to the most recently paired device. If the
most recent device is not present within 10 seconds, then the BT1200 will AUTOMATICALLY go
into pairing mode and you will hear the announcement ”Power on” followed by the announcement
“Pairing phone, please place your phone in pairing mode and enter PIN code 0000”. The blue LED
with flash every (1) second.
MANUAL PAIRING
1. Power off the BT1200.
2. Press and hold the Multi-Function Button [MFB] for 6 seconds until you hear the
announcement “Pairing phone - please put your phone in pairing mode and enter PIN code
“0000”. The blue LED will flash every second.
3. Activate the Bluetooth feature from your phone’s menu. The phone will search all Bluetooth
devices within 10 meters (30 ft.) and display them as a list.
4. Select “BT1200” from the list. Enter “0000” to pair and connect the BT1200 to your phone. If
you are using an Apple iPhone, you can just hit “OK” to pair to the BT1200.
5. The blue LED will blink when both devices are successfully paired, and you will hear the
BT1200 announce: “Pairing successful”. Note: If the pairing cannot be completed with 2
minutes of pairing mode activation the BT1200 will power down. The BT1200 will announce
“Pairing failed - please put your phone in pairing mode and try again.” Please repeat steps 1
through 4.
POWERING ON/OFF
The BT1200 will switch on
automatically when you turn ON
the Ignition key. You will hear the
system speak: “Power on” and
the Blue LED indicator in the
center button will begin to flash.
To turn off the Car kit, it will
turn off automatically when the
ignition is off. To manually power
off the BT1200 press the Multi-
function button continuously for
10 Seconds. You will hear the
system speak: “Power off”.
To manually turn ON the BT1200
press the MFB for 3 seconds.

KEYPAD CONTROLLER
INSTALLATION STEPS
The BT1200 keypad controller is designed to easily mount in a blank switch plate, dash panel
or center console. Carefully choose a location that is within easy reach of the driver. Drilling is
required to mount the keypad. Check for clearance or obstructions behind the switch location
to ensure there are no vital vehicle components or wiring that might become damaged before
drilling! When choosing a location, consider the 10 ft. (3m) length of the controller cable.
1. Use a 9/16'' (15mm) drill for the keypad controller. Drill a hole in the chosen location.
The controller keypad is designed to lock itself into a properly drilled mounting hole.
2. Clean the mounting surface of dirt or grease before mounting the controller.
3. Feed cable through the hole, peel the backing paper from the controller and press the
controller into place.
MICROPHONE INSTALLATION STEPS
For best performance, the BT1200 microphone must be pointed toward the direction of the
driver’s voice. We recommend choosing a location between the rear-view mirror and sun visor
(see Fig. 1, page 2). When choosing a location, consider the 10 ft. (3m) length of the microphone
cable. For best results, the mounting surface should be flat and preferably smooth. The
microphone holder has a self-adhesive strip on the back.
1. Separate the mic from its holder (gently pull apart)
2. Clean the mounting surface of dirt or grease before mounting the mic holder.
3. Peel the backing paper from the adhesive strip and press the mic holder onto the mounting
surface and hold for 30 seconds.
4. Push the mic back onto the round peg and point (aim) towards the driver’s seat.
