PRE-OPERATIONAL WARNINGS

Improper use of this equipment may result in Personal Injury or Death. Improper use
includes, but is not limited to, use without adequate training, disregard of the warnings
and instructions contained herein, and failure to inspect and maintain this Respiratory
Protective Equipment. Read and understand all instructions before attempting to
operate or service this equipment.
This equipment is intended to be used only in conjunction with an organised Respiratory
Protection program.
Before using this equipment, read the contents of AS/NZS 1715 and familiarise yourself
with the requirements for Respiratory Protective Equipment and their potential effects
on the wearer.
PAPR system users must be familiar with workplace hazards prior to using the equipment
and must be fully trained in the use of the apparatus.
Scott Safety headtops must be used with a Scott Safety blower, unless otherwise
directed. Read this manual, the PAPR manual, Scott Safety Filter manuals, prior to using
this equipment.
The blower must be fitted with the correct range of filters which are appropriate for the
workplace hazard.
This product must only be used with filters manufactured by Scott Safety. The use of any
other filters will negate the approval and will be likely to reduce the level of protection
provided.
Do NOT use a PAPR in confined spaces, oxygen deficient atmospheres (<19%), oxygen
enriched atmospheres (>23.5%), or where there is an immediate hazard to life or health.
Local regulations may apply.
Do NOT use if the ambient temperature is outside of the range -10°C to +50°C. Humidity
levels up to 95% RH do not present any operational problems.
Do NOT use if the apparatus is damaged. The headtop and air hose must be inspected
on every occasion before use to ensure that no damage of any kind is evident which
could cause leakage or reduced levels of protection. A monthly inspection of the
apparatus is a mandatory requirement in the UK under COSHH regulations and
inspection on a monthly basis is strongly recommended for all other countries.
Protection will only be obtained if the equipment is fitted correctly.
Protection levels may be reduced if wind speed exceeds 2 meters per second.
In the unlikely event that the PAPR fails while in a hazardous area, there may be an
increase of carbon dioxide and contamination within the headtop. leave the area
immediately.
Scott Safety headtops can be used in certain explosive and flammable atmospheres
when used with a blower which is marked as intrinsically safe. It is the employers
responsibility to ensure that the intrinsic safety approval is compatible with the particular
environment.
At very high work-rates, pressure in the apparatus may become negative at peak
inhalation flow.
It is unlikely that the requirements for protection will be achieved if hair, spectacle side-
arms or clothing intrude into the faceseal.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The FM4 headtop is a protective facemask designed to be used alongside Scott
Safety powered air purifying respirators (PAPR), and one of two types of breathing
hose.
Approved to AS/NZS 1716. The PAPR rating is determined by the blower, headtop
and filter configuration. Please refer to the Scott Safety Technical Datasheet for
combination specifications.
FM4 can also be used as a negative pressure facemask and should be used in
conjunction with the Scott Safety user instructions for the mask.
The FM4 is a full mask headtop, the faceseal is moulded in silicone elastomer, and
comes with a polycarbonate visor conforming to EN166 grade B
The wide, flat faceseal makes it easy to achieve an efficient and comfortable
seal, and the ori-nasal inner mask helps minimise carbon dioxide dead-space and
reduces visor misting
FM4 comes complete with a speech diaphragm to assist speech clarity and a five
point EPDM head harness
When used with a Scott Safety PAPR, this facemask is designed to be used
alongside two types of breathing hose:
1 850mm Polyurethane non-stretch - Scott PU non-stretch
2 800mm Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer - Scott EPDM
The choice of hose is dependent on your own work practises/needs and is beyond
the scope of this manual. For further information contact Scott Safety customer
services, details at the rear of this manual.
Available in three sizes, small, medium and medium/large and fully adjustable to fit
a range of head sizes, via an adjustable head harness.
FM4 has been designed to operate with a flow rate of between 120 litres per minute
and 180 litres per min and is compatible for use with Scott PAPR systems (AS/NZS
1716) Please read this manual in conjunction with the respective system manual
prior to use.
Note: All new headtops are supplied with a protective film secured to the visor. This
film is for transit purposes only and must be removed prior to the headtop being
used. It is re-useable to protect the visor during storage.

Note: The following instructions are
for the FM4 headtop and breathing
hoses. These instructions must be
used alongside the Operating and
Maintenance Instructions for the chosen
PAPR.
PRE-USE CHECKS
Note: The life of a headtop has many
factors that make it difficult to predict
service life. Therefore the headtop
should be inspected carefully before
and after each use to ensure that it has
not become damaged. As a guideline
we would anticipate that the FM4 used
indoors and for ‘occasional’ use would
have a service life of five years, provided
that the equipment is stored and
maintained correctly.
HOSES
Inspect the breathing hose for any signs
of creasing and ensure that it is not torn
Ensure that both ends of the breathing
hose are free from dirt or debris
For a Spirit hose check that the grey
locking collar on the breathing hose
female connector works correctly and
is free from damage, ensure that the
witness marks are aligned with the
opening in the black collar and ready
to place over the air outlet on the Spirit
blower
For a TPOWER/Proflow hose check that
the ‘O’ ring is in place and in good
condition
HEADTOP
Check the head harness for signs of
damage or wear. Pay attention to the
head harness fixings and buckles, also
the neck strap, inhale and exhale valves,
hose inlet and ori-nasal inner mask
Check the harness fixings and buckles
for any perishing of rubber.
LOOSEN OFF ALL STRAPS
Check that the headtop and visor is
in a good, clean condition, free from
any damage and there are no cracks
or scratches, pay attention to the inner
seals on the facemask
Ensure the speech diaphragm is
undamaged with no holes and check the
ori-nasal inhalation valves are lying flat
Ensure that both the inhalation and
exhalation valve are in place and secure
Ensure that the visor clamp and screws
are all in place and secure
Inspect the front cover, ensure that the
two pozi-drive screws are in place and
secure.

FACESEAL CHECK
With the headtop head harness folded
over the visor of the facemask check for
a good faceseal.
Offer the facemask up to the face with
one hand
Close off the inlet port of the facemask
with the other hand
Inhale and check that the mask pulls
onto the face and remains in position
while you hold a breath
A good faceseal will be indicated by the
mask staying in place with the vacuum
created.
If the mask does not stay in position then
this indicates a possibility of, but is not
limited to either of the following;
Incorrect fitting
Incorrect mask size
Faulty exhalation valve
Defective/damaged mask seal.
If you are happy with the fitting of the
mask and you can find no apparent
defect then it may be necessary to
change mask size and repeat.
If there is a fault with the mask then do
not use until the fault has been found
and rectified.
Note: The mask should feel firm against
the face with no undue movement.
Excessive tightening will cause
discomfort and may distort the faceseal.
Do not use a mask if you cannot achieve
a comfortable fit.
POWERED AIR SUPPLY SYSTEM
The PAPR must be checked in
accordance with the operating and
maintenance instructions specific for the
chosen model.
Once all parts have been verified
serviceable then the system can be fully
assembled in preparation for donning,
see section Donning.
ASSEMBLY
The headtop and breathing hose are
now ready to be attached to the PAPR
Note: Whilst the materials that may
come into contact with the wearers
skin are not known to be likely to cause
irritation to the skin or other adverse
effects to health, they may cause allergic
reactions in particularly susceptible
individuals.

DONNING
Note: The PAPR must have gone through
a pre-use check in accordance with the
Operating and Maintenance Instructions
manual prior to use.
The breathing hose must be attached to the
blower prior to donning the Headtop - See
Operating and Maintenance Instructions.
Glasses may not be worn with the FM4
except by utilising the internal frame
designed for this mask.
When worn correctly the headtop will be
comfortable and a full range of motion
will be achievable.
Turn the head harness inside out and
over the front of the headtop
Offer the mask up to the face with one
hand, chin into the mask seal
With the other hand pull the harness
from the front of the facemask and
over the back of the Head. Smooth
the harness out ensuring that the head
harness does not ruck or tangle
Tighten the bottom two buckles, then the
middle two and finally the top buckle
Test for a good range of motion. The
faceseal should remain in contact with
the face
DOFFING
CAUTION: do not remove the headtop
until you are in a safe and hazard free
zone
Once free of any hazard switch off the
PAPR in accordance with the operating
and maintenance instructions
Ease the head harness buckles towards
the front of the headtop to fully release
the headtop harness tension
Pull the mask over the head and
remove the headtop
Place the headtop onto a clean surface
Remove the PAPR in accordance
with the Operating and Maintenance
instructions
Proceed with after use cleaning and
storage
AFTER USE CLEANING
Note: If during use the equipment
may have become contaminated by
hazardous substances, the contamination
must be identified and properly removed
or the contaminated components must
be replaced before next use.
Disposal of the contaminated components
must be carried out in accordance with
local regulatory requirements.
Disconnect the breathing hose from
the blower
Inspect the equipment for worn,
ageing or damaged components
Carefully wipe clean the headtop with
a warm water solution containing a
mild detergent
It is recommended that headtop visors
be wiped clean with Distel® wipes
If necessary, wash the outside of the
breathing hose carefully using warm
water solution containing a mild
detergent
Ensure the breathing hose connections
are free from all dirt or debris that
could prevent an effective seal with the
blowerl
Once clean all components must be left
to dry naturally.
STORAGE
Device must be protected from damage
during transportation.
once all the components are clean and
dry store in a clean environment.

MAINTENANCE
Regular and scheduled maintenance
is essential for the integrity of the
equipment.
As well as the pre-use and storage
checks the apparatus must be checked
on a monthly basis, a service should be
performed annually by a qualified service
and maintenance operative.
A regular monthly maintenance schedule
is performed as per the pre-use checks
which includes a thorough visual
inspection of all components.
Carry out a thorough inspection of all
component parts before and after each
occasion of use.
All O-rings, exhalation and inhalation
valves on this headtop must be replaced
annually regardless of the condition.
In storage, valves have a shelf life of five
years, after which time they should be
discarded.
Exhalation and inhalation valves are
marked with a code indicating the
year of manufacture. The code ‘07’
corresponds to the year 2007 and a
dot is added each year thereafter. The
code ‘07•’ (notice the dot after the 7)
indicates the year 2008.

Das Gebläse muss mit dem korrekten Filtersortiment ausgestattet sein, das für die am
Arbeitsplatz vorherrschenden Gefahren geeignet ist.
Dieses Produkt darf nur mit Filtern, die von Scott Safety hergestellt wurden, verwendet
werden. Die Verwendung anderer Filter macht die Gerätezulassung ungültig und beeinträchtigt
sehr wahrscheinlich den vom Gerät gelieferten Schutzgrad.
Verwechseln Sie Filtermarkierungen gemäß EN12941 und EN12942 NICHT mit
Filtermarkierungen, die sich auf andere EN-Normen beziehen.
PAPR-Systeme NICHT in engen Räumen, sauerstoffarmer Umgebung (<19,5%), mit Sauerstoff
angereicherter Umgebung (>23%) oder an Orten verwenden, wo eine unmittelbare Gefahr für
Leben oder Gesundheit besteht. Es gelten u.U. lokale Vorschriften.
Gerät NICHT benutzen, wenn sich die Umgebungstemperatur außerhalb des Bereichs
von -10°C bis +50°C befindet. Eine relative Luftfeuchte von bis zu 95% beeinträchtigt die
Gerätefunktion nicht.
KEINE beschädigten Geräte verwenden. Kopfteil und Luftschlauch sind stets vor dem Einsatz
zu untersuchen, um sicher zu stellen, dass sie keine Beschädigungen aufweisen, die ansonsten
Leckagen bedingen oder die Schutzfunktion beeinträchtigten könnten. Die monatliche
Inspektion des Gerätes ist eine gemäß COSHH-Vorschriften (Vorschriften zur Überwachung
von gesundheitsgefährdenden Stoffen) vom britischen Gesetzgeber erhobene Anforderung.
Für alle anderen Länder wird eine monatliche Inspektion ebenfalls strengstens empfohlen.
Der Schutzgrad wird nur dann erreicht, wenn das Gerät korrekt angelegt wird.
Windgeschwindigkeiten von mehr als 2m pro Sekunde können einen verringerten Schutzgrad
bedingen.
Für den unwahrscheinlichen Fall, dass das PAPR-System in einem Gefahrenbereich
versagt, kann es im Kopfteil zu einer erhöhten Ansammlung von Kohlendioxid und
Kontaminationsstoffen kommen. Den Gefahrenbereich sofort verlassen.
Scott Safety Kopfteile können in bestimmten explosiven und leicht entflammbaren
Atmosphären eingesetzt werden, wenn sie mit einem Gebläse verwendet werden, das als
eigensicher gekennzeichnet ist. Es ist die Verantwortlichkeit des Arbeitgebers sicherzustellen,
dass die eigensichere Zulassung für die jeweilige Umgebung gilt.
Bei sehr hoher Arbeitsbelastung kann bei maximaler Einatemfrequenz innerhalb des Gerätes
ein Unterdruck entstehen.
Es ist recht unwahrscheinlich, dass ein vorschriftsmäßiger Schutz erzielt wird, wenn Haare,
Brillenbügel oder Teile der Kleidung in die Gesichtsmanschette hineinragen.

TECHNISCHE BESCHREIBUNG
Die Kopfteile der Serie FM4 sind Gesichtsschutzmasken, die zum Gebrauch mit
Scott Safety luftreinigenden Atemschutzgeräten mit Eigenantrieb (PAPR) und
einem von zwei Atemschlauchtypen konzipiert.
Nach EN 136 und EN 12942 zugelassen.
Die FM4 kann ebenfalls als Unterdruck-Gesichtsmaske verwendet werden und sollte
mit den Scott Safety Benutzerhinweisen für diese Maske benutzt werden.
Die FM4 ist eine Vollgesichtsmaske mit einer Gesichtsmanschette aus Silikon-
Elastomer und ist mit einem Polycarbonat-Visier gemäß EN166 Gütegrad B
ausgestattet.
Die breite, flache Gesichtsmanschette erleichtert die Erzielung einer wirksamen
und bequemen Abdichtung und die ori-nasale Innenmaske hilft, den Totraum zu
vermindern, indem sich Kohlendioxid ansammeln kann und wirkt dem Beschlagen
des Visiers entgegen.
Die FM4 ist ebenfalls mit einer Sprechmembran ausgestattet, die die
Sprachverständlichkeit begünstigt, sowie einem 5-Punkte-EPDM-Kopfgeschirr
Bei Verwendung mit einem Scott Safety PAPR-System ist die Gesichtsmaske zum
Einsatz mit zwei Atemschlauchtypen konzipiert:
1 einem nicht dehnbaren 850mm Polyurethanschlauch - Scott PU non-stretch
2 einem 800mm Ethylen-Propylen-Dien-Kautschukschlauch - Scott EPDM.
Die Wahl des Schlauches ist von Ihrer eigenen Arbeitsweise/Ihren spezifischen
Anforderungen abhängig und übersteigt den Rahmen dieses Handbuches. Weitere
Angaben erhalten Sie vom Scott Safety Kundendienst, zu dem Sie hinten in diesem
Handbuch weitere Angaben finden.
In drei Größen erhältlich: Small, Medium und Medium/Large und über ein
verstellbares Kopfgeschirr vollständig an verschiedene Kopfgrößen anpassbar.
Die FM4 ist zum Betrieb mit einer Durchflussrate von 120 Litern pro Minute bis
180 Litern pro Minute konzipiert und zum Gebrauch mit Scott-PAPR-Systemen
(EN12942) kompatibel. Bitte lesen Sie vor Gebrauch dieses Handbuch zusammen
mit dem jeweiligen Systemhandbuch.
Hinweis: Alle neuen Kopfteile werden mit einer auf dem Visier angebrachten
Schutzfolie geliefert. Diese Folie dient lediglich zum Schutz während des Transports
und ist vor Gebrauch des Kopfteils zu entfernen. Sie ist wieder verwendbar, um so
das Visier während der Lagerung zu schützen.

Hinweis: Die folgende Anleitung
bezieht sich auf FM4 Kopfteile und
Atemschläuche. Diese Anleitung
ist zusammen mit der Betriebs- und
Wartungsanleitung des gewählten PAPR-
Systems zu lesen.
ÜBERPRÜFUNG VOR GEBRAUCH
Hinweis: Die Betriebslebensdauer eines
Kopfteils ist von zahlreichen Faktoren
abhängig, was es schwierig macht,
sie vorherzubestimmen. Daher sind
Kopfteile stets vor und nach jedem
Einsatz gründlich zu untersuchen,
um sicherzustellen, dass sie keine
Beschädigungen aufweisen. Als
Richtwert kann man davon ausgehen,
dass eine FM4, die drinnen und nur
‘gelegentlich’ verwendet wird, eine
Betriebslebensdauer von rund fünf
Jahren aufweist - vorausgesetzt, dass
das Gerät korrekt gelagert und gewartet
wird.
SCHLÄUCHE
Untersuchen Sie den Atemschlauch
auf Anzeichen von Verknickungen und
achten Sie darauf, dass er keine Risse
aufweist.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass beide Enden des
Atemschlauchs keinerlei Schmutz oder
Ablagerungen aufweisen.
Überprüfen Sie bei Spirit-Schläuchen,
dass der graue Spannring am
Buchsensanschluss des Atemschlauchs
fehlerfrei funktioniert und unbeschädigt
ist. Achten Sie darauf, dass die
Markierungen auf die im schwarzen Ring
befindliche Öffnung ausgerichtet sind
und der Schlauch so auf dem Luftauslass
am Spirit-Gebläse platziert werden kann.
Bei einem Tornado/Proflow-Schlauch ist
darauf zu achten, dass sich der O-Ring
an Ort und Stelle befindet und in gutem
Zustand ist.
KOPFTEIL
Kopfgeschirr sorgfältig auf Anzeichen
von Beschädigung und Verschleiß
kontrollieren. Achten Sie dabei
insbesondere auf Befestigungen
und Schnallen am Kopfgeschirr,
ebenso Nackengurt, Einatem- und
Ausatemventile, Schlaucheinlass und ori-
nasale Innenmaske.
Überprüfen Sie die Befestigungen
und Schnallen des Kopfgeschirrs auf
Anzeichen von Gummiverschleiss.
ALLE GURTE LÖSEN.
Überprüfen Sie, dass sich Kopfteil und
Visier in einem guten, sauberen Zustand
befinden, frei von Beschädigungen sind
und keinerlei Risse oder Kratzer aufweisen;
achten Sie dabei insbesondere auf die
Innendichtungen der Gesichtsmaske.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass die
Sprechmembran unbeschädigt ist und
keinerlei Löcher aufweist und überprüfen
Sie, dass die ori-nasalen Einatemventile
flach anliegen.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass sich Ein- und
Ausatemventil an ihrem Platz befinden
und sicher befestigt sind.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass sich Visierklemme
und alle Schrauben an ihrem Platz
befinden und sicher befestigt sind.
Untersuchen Sie die Frontabdeckung
und stellen Sie sicher, dass die beiden
Pozi-Drive-Schrauben an ihrem Platz und
sicher befestigt sind.

ÜBERPRÜFUNG DER
ABDICHTUNG AM GESICHT
Bei über das Visier der Gesichtsmaske
geklapptem Kopfgeschirr - auf gute
Abdichtung am Gesicht überprüfen.
Gesichtsmaske mit einer Hand an das
Gesicht heran führen.
Einlassöffnung der Gesichtsmaske mit
der anderen Hand verschließen.
Einatmen und überprüfen, dass sich
die Maske an das Gesicht ansaugt und
solange in Position verbleibt, wie Sie
kurzzeitig den Atem anhalten.
Eine gute Abdichtung am Gesicht wird
dadurch angezeigt, dass die Maske durch
das entstandene Vakuum unverändert in
Position verbleibt.
Verbleibt die Maske nicht in Position,
so kann dies auf Folgendes hinweisen
(ist jedoch nicht auf diese beiden
Möglichkeiten beschränkt):
falsch eingestellte Maske
falsche Maskengröße
defektes Ausatemventil
defekte/beschädigte Maskendichtung.
Sind Sie mit der Maskeneinstellung
zufrieden lässt sich kein offensichtlicher
Defekt feststellen, so kann es erforderlich
sein, eine andere Maskengröße zu
wählen und die Maskeneinstellung zu
wiederholen.
Liegt eine defekte Maske vor, so ist die
Maske nicht zu verwenden, bevor der
Fehler gefunden und behoben wurde.
Hinweis: Die Maske sollte fest am Gesicht
anliegen und keine unnötige Bewegung
aufweisen. Ein zu festes Anziehen führt
zu unbequemem Sitz und kann ein
Verziehen der Gesichtsmanschette zur
Folge haben.
Maske nicht verwenden, wenn kein
bequemes Anliegen erzielt werden kann.
LUFTVERSORGUNGSSYSTEM
MIT EIGENANTRIEB
Das PAPR-System muss gemäß Betriebs-
und Wartungsanleitung für das jeweilige
Modell überprüft werden.
Nachdem die Betriebsbereitschaft
aller Teile überprüft wurde, kann das
System in Vorbereitung auf das Anlegen
des Gerätes montiert werden - siehe
Abschnitt Anlegen.
MONTAGE
Kopfteil und Atemschlauch sind jetzt
bereit zum Anschluss an das PAPR
Hinweis: Obwohl nicht bekannt
ist, dass die Materialien, die mit
der Haut des Trägers in Berührung
kommen, Hautreizungen oder andere
gesundheitsschädliche Reaktionen
hervorrufen, können sie dennoch bei
besonders empfindlichen Personen
allergische Reaktionen auslösen.

ANLEGEN
Hinweis: Das PAPR muss vor Gebrauch
einer Überprüfung gemäß Betriebs- und
Wartungsanleitung unterzogen werden.
Der Atemschlauch muss vor dem
Anlegen des Kopfteils am Gebläse
befestigt werden - siehe Betriebs- und
Wartungsanleitung.
Die FM4 ist nicht zum Tragen mit Brillen
geeignet, außer dann, wenn das speziell
für diese Maske konzipierte Innengestell
verwendet wird.
Beim korrekten Tragen des Kopfteils
sitzt dieses bequem und gestattet
uneingeschränkte Beweglichkeit.
Wenden Sie das Kopfgeschirr von
innen nach außen und schlagen Sie
es dabei über die Vorderseite des
Kopfteils.
Führen Sie die Maske mit einer Hand
an das Gesicht heran, legen Sie das
Kinn in die Maskenmanschette.
Mit der anderen Hand das Geschirr von
der Vorderseite der Gesichtsmaske nach
hinten über den Kopf ziehen. Bänderung
glätten und dabei sicherstellen, dass
sich das Kopfgeschirr nicht in Falten
verfängt oder verheddert.
Untere beide Schnallen festziehen,
danach die mittleren beiden und zum
Schluss die obere.
Überprüfen Sie, dass eine gute
Beweglichkeit möglich ist. Die
Gesichtsmanschette sollte dabei stets
mit dem Gesicht in Kontakt bleiben
ABLEGEN
VORSICHT: Kopfteil nicht abnehmen,
bevor Sie den Gefahrenbereich verlassen
haben.
Nach dem Verlassen des
Gefahrenbereichs - PAPR gemäß
Betriebs- und Wartungsanleitung
abschalten.
Schnallen des Kopfgeschirrs nach
vorn schieben, um das Kopfgeschirr
vollständig zu lockern.
Maske über den Kopf ziehen und
Kopfteil ablegen.
Kopfteil auf einer sauberen Fläche
ablegen.
PAPR-System gemäß Betriebs- und
Wartungsanleitung ablegen.
Dann die Reinigung nach Gebrauch
vornehmen und das Gerät lagern.
REINIGUNG NACH GEBRAUCH
Hinweis: Besteht die Möglichkeit,
dass die Ausrüstung während des
Einsatzes durch gefährliche Substanzen
kontaminiert wurde, so muss der
Kontaminationsstoff identifiziert und
korrekt entfernt werden oder die
kontaminierten Bauteile sind vor dem
nächsten Einsatz auszutauschen.
Die Entsorgung kontaminierter
Bauteile muss gemäß lokal gültiger
Gesetzgebung erfolgen.
Atemschlauch vom Gebläse trennen.
Ausrüstung auf verschlissene, alte oder
beschädigte Bestandteile überprüfen.
Kopfteil vorsichtig mit einem Gemisch
aus warmem Wasser und einem milden
Reiniger sauber wischen.
Es wird empfohlen, Kopfteil-Visiere mit
Distel® -Tüchern abzuwischen.
Falls notwendig, die Außenseite des
Atemschlauchs vorsichtig mit einem
Gemisch aus warmem Wasser und
einem milden Reiniger abwischen.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass die
Atemschlauchanschlüsse
keinerlei Verschmutzungen oder
Ablagerungen aufweisen, die eine
wirksame Abdichtung am Gebläse
beeinträchtigen könnten.
Nach der Reinigung müssen alle
Bestandteile an der Luft trocknen.

LAGERUNG
Gerät ist vor Beschädigung während des
Transports geschützt werden.
Nachdem alle Bauteile gereinigt und
getrocknet sind, sind sie in sauberer
Umgebung zu lagern.

WARTUNG
Eine regelmäßige planmäßige Wartung
ist notwendig, um eine fehlerfreie
Funktion des Gerätes zu erzielen.
Neben den Überprüfungen vor Gebrauch
und Lagerung ist das Gerät einer
monatlichen Überprüfung zu unterziehen;
einmal jährlich ist es einer Wartung
durch einen qualifizierten Service- und
Wartungstechniker zu unterziehen.
Eine regelmäßige monatliche Wartung
ist gemäß Überprüfungen vor Gebrauch
vorzunehmen, die eine visuelle Kontrolle
aller Bauteile umfassen.
Nehmen Sie eine gründliche Inspektion
alle Bauteile vor und nach jedem Einsatz
vor.
Alle an diesem Kopfteil befindlichen
O-Ringe, Ausatem- und Einatemventile
müssen jährlich - ungeachtet ihres
Zustands - ausgetauscht werden.
Gelagerte Ventile haben eine
Lebensdauer von fünf Jahren und nach
Ablauf dieser Zeit müssen sie entsorgt
werden.
Ausatem- und Einatemventile sind mit
einem Code gekennzeichnet, der das
Herstellungsjahr angibt. Der Code
‘07’ entspricht dem Jahr 2007 und für
jedes darauf folgende Jahr wird ein
Punkt hinzugefügt. Der Code ‘07•’
(beachten Sie den Punkt nach der Zahl
7) bezeichnet das Jahr 2008.
WARTUNGSANGABEN
Notieren Sie Angaben zu Überprüfung
und Wartung im Prüfprotokoll, das sich
hinten in diesem Handbuch befindet.
Zu den notierten Angaben gehören

Une mauvaise utilisation de ce matériel peut entrainer des blessures ou des risques de
décès. Par mauvaise utilisation nous entendons, sans nous y limiter, un usage avant toute
formation adéquate, la négligence des avertissements et instructions ci-indiqués ainsi
que le manque d’inspection et d’entretien de ce dispositif de protection respiratoire. Bien
lire et assimiler l’ensemble des instructions avant de tenter d’utiliser ou d’entretenir ce
dispositif.
Ce dispositif ne doit être utilisé qu’en conjonction avec un programme de protection
respiratoire prévu.
Avant d’utiliser ce dispositif, veuillez lire le document EN529:2005 afin de bien connaitre
les spécifications liées à ce dispositif ainsi que leurs effets potentiels sur son utilisateur.
Les utilisateurs du système PAPR doivent connaitre les dangers inhérents au lieu de travail
avant d’utiliser le dispositif, et doivent également être parfaitement formés à l’utilisation
de l’appareil.
Les casques et masques de sécurité Scott doivent être utilisés avec un système
respiratoire de Scott Safety à moins d’une mention contraire. Consulter ce manuel, le
manuel du PAPR, les manuels sur les filtres de Scott Safety, avant d’utiliser cet appareil.
L’appareil respiratoire doit être installé en respectant la bonne gamme de filtres
correspondant au danger du lieu de travail.
Cet appareil ne doit être utilisé qu’avec des filtres fabriqués par Scott Safety. L’utilisation
de tout autre filtre éliminera l’approbation et diminuera probablement le niveau de
protection assuré.
Ne PAS confondre les marques des filtres EN12941 et EN12942 avec celles liées aux autres
normes EN.
Ne PAS utiliser un PAPR dans des espaces confinés, manquant d’oxygène (<19.5%),
enrichis en oxygène (>23%), ou en cas de dangers mortels ou pour la santé. La
règlementation locale est susceptible d’être en vigueur.
Ne PAS utiliser l’appareil si la température ambiante sort de la fourchette -10°C - +50°C.
Des niveaux d’humidité allant jusqu’à 95 % RH ne posent pas de problèmes d’utilisation.
Ne PAS utiliser l’appareil s’il est endommagé. Le casque souple et l’amenée d’air doivent
être vérifiés avant toute utilisation afin de garantir l’absence de dégâts susceptibles
d’entrainer des fuites ou de faire chuter le niveau de protection. L’appareil doit être vérifié
mensuellement comme stipulé au RU, conformément aux règlement COSHH, et il est
vivement recommandé de le vérifier mensuellement dans le cas d’autres pays.
La protection ne sera assurée que si l’appareil est monté correctement.
Les niveaux de protection peuvent chuter si la vitesse du vent dépasse les 2 mètres par
seconde.
Dans l’éventualité très improbable ou le PAPR tombe en panne dans un endroit dangereux,
du dioxyde de carbone peut pénétrer à l’intérieur du casque souple et le contaminer. Dans
ce cas, quitter immédiatement la zone.
Les casques Scott Safety peuvent être utilisés en environnements inflammables et
déflagrants, lorsqu’ils sont utilisés en conjonction avec un appareil respiratoire indiqué
comme étant intrinsèquement sûr. L’employeur est chargé de garantir que l’approbation
intrinsèque de sécurité soit compatible avec l’environnement particulier.
Lorsqu’il est énormément utilisé, l’appareil peut voir sa pression devenir négative lors des
périodes d’inhalation les plus intenses.
Il est fort improbable que l’appareil n’arrive pas à protéger parfaitement si des cheveux,
des branches latérales de lunettes ou du tissu pénètrent au niveau du joint facial.

DESCRIPTION TECHNIQUE
LeFM4 est un masque facial de protection, devant être utilisé en conjonction avec
des appareils respiratoires purifiant, à amenée d’air,Scott Safety (PAPR),et l’un des
deux types de tubulure de respiration.
Certifié conforme à EN 136 et EN 12942.
Le FM4 peut également être utilisé en tant que masque facial à pression négative,
et devrait être employé en conjonction avec les instructions concernant le masque
Scott Safety, destinées à l’utilisateur.
Le FM4 est un masque facial intégral, la jupe est moulée en élastomère de silicone
et est vendue avec un oculaire en polycarbonate, conforme à EN166 de catégorie
B.
La grande jupe de masque plate, procure une étanchéité idéale et une jointure
confortable, alors que le demi-masque nasal intérieur, contribue à minimiser
l’espace inutile de filtrage de l’oxyde de carbone et à éviter la buée intérieure
Le FM4 est vendu avec un diaphragme de communication, qui vous aidera à parler
distinctement, ainsi qu’avec un jeu de brides EPDM à cinq points.
Lorsqu’il est utilisé avec un PAPR Scott Safety, ce masque facial peut être utilisé
avec deux types de tubulure respiratoire :
1 Scott PU non-stretch de 850 mm, en polyuréthane, non étirable
2 Scott EPDM de 800 mm, en éthylène-propylène-diène monomère
Le choix de tubulure dépend de la façon dont vous l’utilisez et de vos besoins, et n’a
aucun rapport avec ce manuel. Pour de plus amples informations, veuillez contacter
le service à la clientèle de Scott Safety dont les coordonnées se trouvent au verso
de ce manuel.
Vendu en trois tailles, small, medium et medium/large, complètement réglable pour
s’ajuster à toutes les tailles de tête, grâce à un jeu de brides ajustable.
Le FM4 a été fabriqué pour être utilisé en fonction d’un débit allant de 120 à 180
litres par minute, et il peut être utilisé avec des systèmes PAPR Scott (EN12942).
Veuillez lire ce manuel ainsi que celui du système respectif avant utilisation.
Nota: Une pellicule de protection se trouve sur l’oculaire de tous les nouveaux
masques faciaux. Cette pellicule ne sert qu’au transport et doit être enlevée avant
d’utiliser le masque facial. Elle peut être réutilisée pour protéger l’oculaire avant
stockage.

Nota: Les instructions suivantes sont
destinées au masque facial FM4 ainsi
qu’aux tubulures respiratoires. Ces
instructions doivent être suivies en
même temps que celles de maintenance
et de fonctionnement, correspondant au
PAPR choisi.
VÉRIFICATIONS AVANT
UTILISATION
Nota: La durée de vie d’un masque
facial dépend de nombreux facteurs
rendant difficile le fait de pouvoir prédire
sa durée d’utilisation. Par conséquent,
il faut inspecter soigneusement le
masque facial, avant et après chaque
utilisation, pour s’assurer qu’il ne soit pas
endommagé. A titre d’indication, nous
escomptons que le FM4, utilisé en plein
air et à l’occasion, puisse pouvoir être
utilisé environ cinq années ; s’il est rangé
et entretenu correctement.
TUBULURES
Vérifier l’absence de tout indice de plis
au niveau de la tubulure respiratoire et
s’assurer qu’elle ne soit pas déchirée.
S’assurer que les deux extrémités de la
tubulure respiratoire soient exemptes de
saletés ou de débris.
Dans le cas d’une tubulure Spirit,
vérifier que le collier de serrage gris,
sur le raccord femelle de la tubulure
respiratoire, fonctionne correctement et
ne soit pas endommagé en s’assurant
que les marques témoins soient alignées
avec l’ouverture du collier noir, et qu’il
soit prêt à être mis par-dessus l’orifice de
refoulement d’air, sur le ventilateur Spirit.
Dans le cas d’une tubulure Tornado/
Proflow, vérifier que le joint torique soit
en place et en bon état.
MASQUE FACIAL
Vérifier que le jeu de brides ne présente
pas de signes de dégâts ou d’usure. Faire
attention aux fixations et aux boucles
du jeu de brides, également à la bride
de cou, aux soupapes d’aspiration et
d’expiration, à l’orifice d’amenée de la
tubulure et au masque nasal intérieur
Vérifier que le caoutchouc des fixations
et des boucles du jeu de brides ne
présente pas d’indices de dégradation.
DESSERRER TOUTES LES
BRIDES
Vérifier que le masque facial et l’oculaire
soient en bon état, propres, exempts de
dégâts, de rayures ou craquelures, en
faisant attention aux joints intérieurs du
masque facial.
S’assurer que le diaphragme de
communication ne soit pas endommagé,
qu’il ne présente pas de trous, et vérifier
que les soupapes d’aspiration du masque
nasal intérieur reposent bien à plat
S’assurer que les soupapes d’aspiration
et d’expiration soient en place et
tiennent bien.
S’assurer que l’embout de serrage et les
vis de l’oculaire, soient bien en place et
tiennent bien
Vérifier le couvercle frontal, en s’assurant
que les deux vis cruciformes soient bien
en place et tiennent bien.
