English - WARRANTY
The products manufactured at our factories in Skelmersdale and Vaasa carry a warranty of 12 months (unless stated
otherwise) for parts, labour and return to site. The warranty period runs from the date of purchase by the end user.
These products are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship at the time of delivery. Scott will be
under no liability for any defect arising from wilful damage, negligence, abnormal working conditions, failure to follow the
original manufacturers instructions, misuse or unauthorised alteration or repair.
Evidence of purchase date will need to be provided for any claims arising during the warranty period. All warranty claims
must be directed through Scott Customer Services and in accordance with our sales return procedure.

Für die in den Betriebsstätten des Unternehmens in Skelmersdale und Vaasa hergestellten Produkte gewährt das

Mängelrügen während der Garantiezeit müssen die Kundendienstabteilungen von Scott in Kenntnis gesetzt werden, und
die Abwicklung muss gemäß den Bestimmungen über die Rücksendung von Waren erfolgen.

1. General
The Sari is designed to protect the respiratory system and face against hazardous gases and particles. The filter
is selected according to the type of hazard present.
Use as filter mask together with a Pro2000 filter (gas, particle or combined filters). The filters are thread
filters conforming to the European standard EN 148-1.
Use with a blower device, with filters fitted to the blower device.
Use with a compressed-airline device
compressed-airline full face mask Kesaf 5062383.
The Sari NR, Sari CR and Sari SIL equipped with a polycarbonate visor are suitable for specialised
applications, such as fire-fighting and mining work.
2. Limitations to use
2.1 This product must only be used by trained persons fully aware of workplace hazards.
2.2 The filtering device must not be used if the environment and contamination is unknown. In case of doubt,
isolating respirators (air supply) which function independently of the atmosphere must be used.
2.3 The filtering device must not be used in confined spaces (e.g. cisterns, tanks) because of the risk of
oxygen deficiency or presence of heavy oxygen-displacing gases (e.g. carbon dioxide).
2.4 The filtering device may be used only if the oxygen content of the air is 18–23 vol.%.
2.5 Gas filters do not protect against particles. Similarly, particle filters do not provide protection against gases
or vapours. In case of doubt, use combined filters.
2.6 Normal filtering devices do not protect against certain gases such as CO (carbon monoxide), CO
2
(carbon
dioxide) and N
2
(nitrogen) and nitrogen oxides.
2.7 Particle filters are only allowed for single use if they are applied against radioactive agents or micro-
organisms (virus, bacteria, fungi and spores).
2.8It is likely that adequate protection cannot be guaranteed if the user’s beard, hair, spectacle frames or
clothing intrude into the face seal. With the Sari one can use special spectacles (see 5512190 spectacle
frame).
2.9When a breathing protector is used in potentially
explosive atmospheres, please follow the instructions
given for such areas.
2.10 Gas filters shall be replaced when the user begins to sense odour, taste or irritation. Filters used against
detrimental gases that do not display any significant indications, require special regulations for the
duration of use and correct usage. Particle filters must be replaced at the latest when breathing resistance
becomes too high.
2.11 The weight of filter used with a full face mask shall not exceed 500 g. The Sari is used with one filter only.
2.12 Working with open fire or molten metal splashes poses a risk of ignition for filters containing activated
carbon (gas filters and combined filters), whereby hazardous toxic concentrations can rapidly build up.
With a blower device
2.13The blower must be running while using the respirator. If the blower turns off by accident, the device
ceases to function as a respirator, and carbon dioxide levels may instantly rise. This is considered an
exceptional situation.
2.14At a very intense working pace, the pressure in the facepiece can change into negative pressure at peak
inhalation.
2.15Protection levels may be reduced if wind speed exceeds 2 m/s.
2.16Filters must not be fitted directly to the the mask or breathing hose.

Check adequate air flow (see Instructions for Use of the blower unit).

Check before use that air passes through the hose into the mask.
4.1 Fitting of the filter
Sari + Pro2000: Remove eventual safety plugs from the filter. Screw the filter tightly in the
connector of the mask (=inh. valve body).
Sari + Pro2000 + blower device: Screw the filters to the blower device and fix the breathing hose
to the connector of the mask.
4.2 When needed, connect the spectacles to the inner mask and adjust their position.
4.3A sweat band is recommended to control excessive hair.
4.4 Loosen the head harness straps.
4.5 Locate the chin pocket of the mask properly on the chin and pull the head harness over the
head.
4.6 Check that the chin is in the chin pocket. Tighten the straps (in the order 1–2–3). Start with neck
straps, pull backwards (not outwards). Then adjust the temple straps and finally the upper strap. The
cradle/net lies centered on the back of the head.
Note! Check that the faceseal touches the skin all around, especially under the chin pocket. Try
moving the mask sideways to verify that there is no slippage.
4.7 Check tightness of the mask (two alternative methods):
1) Cover the exhalation opening of the mask with your hand. Exhale gently to create overpressure.
There must be no leakage between the face and the faceseal.
2) Cover the filter opening with your hand. Inhale to make the mask press onto your face.
If you fail to get a tight fit (=potential leakage), adjust the head harness and filter.
5. Maintenance and storage
Inspect the product regularly for damage and replace where necessary.
5.1 Test for function and leak-tightness
If components have been replaced (visor, valve discs or speech diaphragm), a test for function and
leak-tightness must be carried out with an appropriate test device (e.g. Pro-Tester code 5141080).
The test is also done in case of a mask stored unused for a longer period.
Check also that the faceblank has maintained its shape, the head harness is reasonably elastic, the
visor and the faceseal are undamaged, and that the valve discs and the speech diaphragm’s O-ring
are good and well in position. Damage must be repaired.
5.2 Replacing the visor
The visor is available in polyamide, polycarbonate, chemical-resistant laminated glass or
polycarbonate with a chemical-resistant and scratch-proof coating. The material code is found at the
upper right-hand corner of the visor. Replace visor if damaged, dirty or scratched.

Unscrew the screws (crosshead Phillips), loosen the visor frames, and remove the visor (fig. A).
Place a new visor in the faceblank groove (see the marking “up/down” on the visor). Align the
check marks of the visor and faceblank with each other (fig. B).
Press the upper frame into place (fig. C).
Bend the mask at the connector to give space for the lower frame under the connector support
piece (fig. D). Tighten both screws.
Carry out the leak-tightness test (point 5.1).
5.3 Replacing the exhalation valve disc
Pull out the connector lid (fig. E).
Separate the disc (grey) from the valve body (grip on the edge of the disc) (fig. F).
Fit new disc (pass the tail through the central hole to the inside of the mask) (fig. G).
5.4 Replacing the inhalation valve discs
Remove the connector lid.
Remove the rubber valve seat by pulling it from the tip (fig. H).
Replace the disc (fig. J).
Put the valve seat back to the bottom of the valve body. Do not press too tight (the disc comes
immobilised) because the disc must be free to move.
The valve discs of the inner mask (fig. K) are replaced similarly. Make sure that the rubber edge
of the inner mask comes in the valve seat groove.
5.5 Replacing the speech diaphragm
Pull the head harness to the front of the mask (fig. L).
Fold the chin cup inside out, towards yourself (fig. M).
Remove the speech diaphragm (fig. N).
To make assembly easier, moisten the O-ring with water. Position the tip of the speech
diaphragm into the notch of the connector (fig. O–P) to prevent any leakage. Press the speech
diaphragm into place (fig. Q).
Fold the chin cup to its proper position (fig. R).
5.6 Cleaning
Remove the filter, valves, spectacle frame and speech diaphragm. Also eventual breathing hose.
Clean the facepiece and components with a damp cloth or sponge, using lukewarm water and
mild detergent (neutral, pH 6-8) (e.g. washing-up liquid). A brush can be used for stubborn dirt
(be careful not to scratch the visor).
Do not use solvents (e.g. alcohol, acetone, turpentine), hot water or bleaching agents
(perborate, percarbonate).
5.7 Disinfection
After cleaning, disinfect the inside/faceseal with a disinfection solution (e.g. Scott Trigene), rinse and
allow to dry. Finally, reassemble the mask.

5.8 Storage
Do not keep the straps in constant strain (neck straps, temple straps, upper strap). The material
will deteriorate.
Store protected from direct sunlight, at -10...+50 °C and relative humidity (RH) under 75 %
(sealed filters RH max. 95 %). A properly stored, unused mask stays in good condition for a long
storage period.
After use, an opened filter must be sealed tightly if it is to be reused, but it must be replaced (at
the latest) within 6 months from the date of first use.
The components should not be more than 10 years old.
Before use, the mask must undergo a function test, see Table.
5.9 Disposal
Masks (without filters) are coarse waste. A very contaminated mask as well as used filters are special
refuse and shall be disposed of according to the filtered substances (gases or particles).
5.10 Transport
Sari should be placed into its original packaging or a similar cardboard carton.

1. Allgemeines
Die Sari dient dazu, die Atmungsorgane und das Gesicht vor gas- und partikelförmigen Schadstoffen zu
schützen. Der Filter wird gemäß den Gasen der Raumluft gewählt.
Weitere Informationen zum Einsatz von Atemschutzgeräten siehe BGR 190 (ZH 1/701) (Regeln für den Einsatz
von Atemschutzgeräten).
Wird als Atemanschluß (Filtermaske) zusammen mit Pro2000-Filter verwendet (Gas-, Partikel- oder
Kombinationsfilter). Die Filter sind mit einem Anschlußgewinde versehen und entsprechen dem allgemein
europäischen Standard EN 148-1.
Wird mit einem Gebläsegerät verwendet, wo die Filter am Gebläsegerät festgeschraubt werden.
Wird mit einem Druckluft-Schlauchgerät verwendet Druckluft-Vollmaske Kesaf 5062383.
Die Vollmasken Sari NR, Sari CR und Sari SIL mit Sichtscheibe aus Polykarbonat sind für spezielle
Einsätze wie etwa Brandbekämpfung oder Bergbau geeignet.
2. Einschränkungen für den Gebrauch
2.1 Dieses Produkt darf nur von qualifizierten Personen verwendet werden, die sich der Gefahren am
Arbeitsplatz vollkommen bewusst sind
2.2 Filtergeräte dürfen nicht benutzt werden, wenn die Umgebungsverhältnisse unbekannt sind. In
Zweifelsfällen sind Isoliergeräte zu benutzen, die von der Umgebungsatmosphäre unabhängig wirken.
2.3 Filtergeräte dürfen nicht in engen Räumen (z.B. Behälter, Tanks) eingesetzt werden, da es Sauerstoff-
mangel geben kann oder schwere sauerstoffverdrängende Gase (z.B. Kohlendioxyd) vorkommen.
2.4 Bei der Verwendung der Filtergeräte muß der Sauerstoffgehalt der Raumluft 18–23 Vol.% betragen.
2.5 Ein Gasfilter schützt nicht gegen Partikel und ein Partikelfilter schützt nicht gegen Gase und Dämpfe. Im
Zweifelsfall Kombinationsfilter einsetzen.
2.6 Normale Filtergeräte schützen nicht gegen bestimmte Gase wie CO (Kohlenmonoxyd), CO
2
(Kohlen-
dioxyd) oder N
2
(Stickstoff) und Stickstoffoxyde.
2.7 Partikelfilter gegen radioaktive Stoffe und Mikroorganismen (Viren, Bakterien, Pilze und deren Sporen)
sollen nur einmal verwendet werden.
2.8 Es ist unwahrscheinlich, daß die Dichtigkeitsanforderungen
erreicht werden, wenn sich Bart, Haare,
Brillenbügel oder Teile der Kleidung zwischen Dichtungsrand und Gesicht befinden. Mit der Sari kann eine
Spezialbrille getragen werden (siehe 5512190 Brillenbügel).
2.9 Bei Gebrauch des Atemschutzgerätes in Räumen mit Explosionsgefahr sind die dafür zutreffenden
Vorschriften zu beachten.
2.10 Gasfilter sind auszutauschen, wenn der Träger Geruchs-, Geschmack- oder Reizerscheinungen erkennt.
Filter, die gegen Schadgase ohne deutliche Durchbruchwahrnehmung verwendet werden, erfordern
besondere Einsatzregeln. Partikelfilter sind auszutauschen, wenn der Atemwiderstand zu hoch wird.
2.11 Beim Verwenden mit der Vollmaske darf das Gewicht des Filters höchstens 500 g betragen. Die Sari wird
nur mit einem Filter verwendet.
2.12 Bei Arbeiten mit offenen Flammen oder flüssigen Metalltröpfchen besteht eine Gefahr für das Entzünden
aktivkohlehaltiger Filter (Gas- oder Kombinationsfilter) und damit kann akut gefährdende Konzentrationen
toxischer Stoffe entstehen.
Mit Gebläsegerät
2.13 Der Schutz muß bei laufendem Gebläsegerät verwendet werden. Bei Ausfall des Gebläses kann keine
oder nur eine geringe Atemschutzfunktion des Gerätes erwartet werden; es besteht die Gefahr einer
sofortigen starken Anreicherung von Kohlendioxid. Gebläseausfall wird als ein aussergewöhnlicher
Zustand angesehen.
2.14Bei starkem Atmen/grosser körperlicher Anstrengung kann im Atemanschluß ein Unterdruck beim
Einatmungshöchstdurchfluss entstehen.
2.15Der Schutzgrad kann durch Windstärken von mehr als 2 m/s verringert werden.
2.16Filter dürfen nicht direct an der Maske oder am Atemschlauch befestigt warden.

4. Gebrauch und Anlegen

Vor dem Gebrauch überprüfen
die Unversehrtheit des Atemanschlusses, der Gummiteile und der Sichtscheibe
den Zustand und die Elastizität der Kopfbänderung
daß die Sprechmembran gut an ihrem Platz ist
daß das Ausatemventil an seinem Platz ist und der Ventildeckel gut festgemacht ist
die fehlerfreie Funktion der Ein- und Ausatemventile
ob der Atemfilter für den vorgesehenen Zweck richtig ist (Filtertyp und Filterklasse)
daß die Lagerungszeit des Filters nicht abgelaufen ist
den Zustand und die Unversehrtheit des Filters. Filter schütteln um zu überprüfen, daß sich keine
Teile oder der Inhalt gelöst haben. Der Filter ist auszutauschen, wenn er mechanischen
Einwirkungen, z.B. durch Schlag oder Quetschen ausgesetzt war. Der Filter kann beschädigt
sein, auch wenn er auf eine harte Oberfläche fällt, und auch dann, wenn er an einer Maske / an
einem Gebläsegerät befestigt ist.
