1. About this User Manual
To learn to ride the Trekker PT safely, you must read and follow all instructions and warnings in this
manual, and watch the safety video (where applicable). It is important that you follow all the
safety warnings and cautions that appear throughout this manual, and that you use good
judgement when you ride your Trekker PT. If you have any questions which cannot be found in this
manual, please contact your sales representative.
2. Risk of Ride
Trekker PT is a self-balancing, personal transporter that uses balancing technology. Balancing
technology cannot prevent injury if you do not ride in accordance to this manual. Whenever you
ride the Trekker PT, you risk serious injury from loss of control, collisions, and falls. To reduce the
risk of injury, you must read and follow all instructions and warnings given in this manual.
3. Preparation Before Use
Before you begin, it may be necessary to assemble your Trekker PT. The battery should be charged
for at least 5 hours. To assemble your Trekker PT and charge the batteries for the first time, refer
to the relevant section in this manual. Please pay attention to the local terrain and surroundings,
and check that every part of the vehicle has been tightened and is not damaged; and for the rider
to wear all the protection equipment recommended. (Helmet, elbow guards and knee pads. )

4. Introduction to the Trekker PT
The principle of self balancing scooter is based on the basic principle of "dynamic stability", which is
the a u t o m a t i c b a l a n c i n g a b i l i t y o f t h e s c oo t e r i ts e l f .The p o st ur e o f t h e r i d er a n d t h e s c oo t e r is
determined by the b u i l t - i n precision gyroscope, through the precision and accuracy of the central
microprocessor. This calculates the appropriate command to drive the motor to achieve the
balancing effect. As Trekker PT is a new type of personal transporter, it is difficult to define the type
of the traditional classification; some think of the Trekker PT as a wheeled version of the unicycle,
others think it is a kind of dynamic scooter. However, it is different from the traditional uni-axial
wheel or bi-axial wheel scooter, and in some formal occasions (such as the official rules of the road),
the Trekker PT scooter should be called 'an e l e c t r i c p e r s o n a l m ob i l i t y d e v i c e ', c o mm o n l y k n o w n a s a n
e l e c t r i c s c oo t e r .
The Trekker PT has two wheels, the width of the ordinary adult
shoulder width, and weighs approximately 43kg. It is powered by 2
lithium ion batteries. When riding, it does not need brakes or a
throttle lever; when the rider leans forward, the scooter goes forward
and when the rider's body stands straight - it stops.
The Trekker PT uses the principle of dynamic balance, when the body
moves, the center of gravity of the body action will change
continuously to achieve the correct balance. With wheels instead of the feet, it replaces the high
precision balance of the human being, is low-cost to run, eco-friendly, quiet and convenient. Having
been fully charged, the Trekker PT can run for up to 60Km, depending on weight of rider and the local
terrain.

6. Assembling the Trekker PT
6.1 Check the Accessories
After carefully unpacking, take out the leansteer assembly, the packing parts for the handle bar, and
Trekker PT mainframe in order.
The Trekker PT contains the following parts, please check after opening the package. If anything is missing, please contact
your retailer
1. Trekker PT main body
2. Leansteer bar and spare parts (including
steering pole & handle bar)
3. Charger
4. Mount tool and screws
5. User manual
6. Smartfob (includes a micro USB cable)
7. Battery packs
WARNING: The body of the Trekker PT is extremely heavy. Be sure to lift from the package using
the steel rack, and not the mudguards. Lifting is better between two people.

6.2 Locate the Serial Number
The serial number should be located and stored in a safe place, as is necessary for maintenance, and
shows the warranty information signed by your reseller. It is a 15 digit number beginning ES1352B. You
can find the serial number in the following locations:
i. On the exterior of the packaging
ii. On the warranty sheet of the user manual
iii. At the bottom of the mainframe
Please note, the serial number, which is unique to every Trekker PT, and the warranty sheet, is the only
identification for gaining free warranty and after-sales service.
6.3 Preparation Before Assembly
Before the assembling the Trekker PT you should first locate the Phillips screwdriver supplied with
the product in the package. This should be stored in a safe place for future maintenance. It is
compliant with the metric standard, so you may interchange it with one either in your toolbox or
from a hardware store. It is suggested that you wear a pair of gloves during assembly so as not to
injure your hands.
PLEASE NOTE: The serial number is unique to each vehicle, and is used to identify warranty and
after-sales servicing. Please report any absence or inconsistency to your retailer.

6.4 Mount the Handlebar and Leansteer Frame
Insert the handlebar into the leansteer frame and secure with 3 x 3mm hex screws; use a hex wrench to
tighten. Insert the handlebar into the leansteer frame and tighten the adjuster nut. Insert the leansteer
frame into the main frame and tighten.
6.5 Install the Battery Pack
Lay the Trekker PT forward on to the ground, protected by a blanket or foam
to prevent scratching the mainframe, and take out the M4 x 10 hex screws of
the battery housing using a 3mm wrench Insert the batteries into the
chassis, and replace all screws with hex wrench.
Note: With dual battery packs, the lower battery is the backup battery. It is
not recommended to remove this for separate charging, as it can be difficult
for users to uninstall.

7. Function Introduction
7.1 Power Modes
i. Power off completely mode. In this mode, the whole system is powered off completely; the
battery is at zero, and you must press the power switch on the rear of the mainframe to turn on
the vehicle.
ii. Power off mode. In this mode, all the electronic control systems are in deep dormancy with the
remote module (Smart fob).
iii. Stand-by mode: This is when the machine is on, but not achieving self-balancing yet. In this
mode most systems are activated, but the motor control system is in a normal dormancy which
can be activated from time to time.
iv. Balance mode: The Trekker PT enters the self-balance phase and all the systems work in full
power. In this mode, the rider can ride the vehicle with limited speed. This is ideal for those
learning to ride a self balancing machine.
v. Power assistant mode: In this mode, the Trekker PT is in self-balance mode, but working only
at half power. This mode is used for manoeuvring the vehicle WITHOUT a passenger.
vi. Lock mode: The motor of the vehicle is locked, thus making it inoperable and very hard to drag.
7.2 Smart Key Fob and Signal Indicator
Trekker PT key fob is a rechargeable device, with information display and control functions. It can be used to control the
operation of the Trekker PT –it's keys are shown in the following figure. There is a dock for the key fob on the handlebar.
WARNING: Do not attempt to ride the vehicle in Power Assistant mode. The rider does not have
full control of the machine functions, and it could result in serious injury to rider and machine

On the remote key, there are 3 buttons defined as Power Key, Lock Key and Function
key. Each button can be operated in 3 ways, namely:
Long press –lasting more than 2 seconds
Short press –lasting less than 1.5 seconds
Combination press –2 keys, pressed together for more than 2 seconds
7.3 Smart Key Fob and Display Interface
In the display interface of the fey fob is shown the working status and current riding
information, such as speed, mileage battery remaining.
The lower 3 buttons display the following:

Some functions such as the power off, lock, unlock, exit balance mode or turn off completely, which might cause injury to the
rider can only be activated when not standing on the machine.
The key fob has specific functions depending on the current mode. eg. If the current mode is locked, then a further press will
unlock.
The backlight of the key fob will automatically turn off after searching for a pair for 120 seconds. If pairing code does not
succeed between key fob and Trekker PT, it will automatically exit pairing mode.
7.6 Signal Indicator
The signal indicator is a LED interface located on the centre of the footplate, between the rider's
feet, and shows the current Trekker PT working mode.
NOTE: Some functions which might cause harm to the rider, can only be activated when not
standing on the machine

7.8 Voice Prompt
There is a built-in speaker, which makes voice prompts according to the different working modes. This can be turned on / off by
accessing the setting in the smartphone app.
NOTE: The above icons do not show all of the functions of the Trekker PT –refer to the remote key
fob functions listed previously.

7.9 Power Button, Charge Port and USB Port
At the back of the mainframe of the Trekker PT, there is a USB charging port which supports standard
USB equipment and provides 5V/1A current. You can charge the key fob or other USB devices with
input <150mA charging.
Power switch functions:
a. To turn on the vehicle, press power switch for
2 seconds, and the LED display on the
footplate will light up
b. To turn off the vehicle, press power switch for
2 seconds
7.10 Charging Method
a. Find the charging port at the back of Trekker
PT mainframe, and open the back cover to
check that the charging port is dry
b. Connect the charging port with the charger
(100~240V, global common), then plug it into
the power AC supply.

c. When the LED indicator on the charger shows red, this means that the scooter is charging normally;
when the indicator turns green, the scooter is fully charged. Unplug the charging cable to save the
battery life.
WARNING: For safety reasons, and to prolong the life of the battery, do not leave the battery
plugged in when the unit is fully charged and showing a green light

7.11 Parking Stand
Some models of the Trekker PT are equipped with a parking stand. When there is no rider on the
Trekker Pro, you can release the parking stand downwards, and the machine can stand up on its own.
To release the parking stand: use the front of your shoe to strike the button on the front of the body of
the vehicle. The parking stand will automatically release
To retract the parking stand: use the front of your shoe, push the parking stand to the upmost parking
position.
WARNING: The parking stand can only be released in off / lock / standby mode. We recommend
that you turn the machine off completely. DO NOT STAND ON THE MACHINE
when the brake is released, as the rider will fall off
