Light Meter

WARNING
●Keep Lumisphere, Lumidisc, Lumigrid or High-slide out of reach of young
children,as swallowing such objects can cause su󱐯ocation.
●Infants or toddlers may accidentally wrap the strap around their neck,
so please place it in a location out of their reach. There is a danger of
su󱐯ocation.
●If the leather touches the skin directly, itching or rash may occur on
the skin due to leather allergy. If you feel any abnormality, stop using it
immediately and consult a doctor.
CAUTION
●This L-398A has a powerful magnet. Do not place it close
to the following materials, otherwise the data stored may be
damaged or the products may malfunction:
Cash cards, floppy disc, other magnetic cards, TV Set, CRT
display or LCD, and other apparatus sensitive to magnetic
elds.
●Do not touch the sensor inside directly when the light receiving part
is detached, as it may cause the damaged parts and/or incorrect
measurement.
●When using the soft case or strap in the rain, be careful not to get it wet.
Leaving the moisture on the leather for a long time may cause deterioration.
NOTE
The sensor component of L-398A has a protective glass closely adhered
to amorphous silicon. Due to the high degree of adhesion, rainbow-colored
interference fringes appear on the surface, but this does not affect the
measured values and performance.
Leather care
If you do not use the leather product for a long time, please wipe it o󱐯 with a
dry cloth to remove sweat, dirt, and moisture, and store it away from high / low
temperature and high humidity.

3. Part Designations
4. Basic Operation
1）Incident Light Measurement
From position where subject is to be measured, point Lumisphere ❶ in
direction of camera. Set ISO value to use with lm sensitivity knob ⓴. Press
stopper button ⓭. Meter needle ⓲ deects according to brightness. When
the stopper button is released, the meter needle ⓲ becomes xed at the
deected position. If the location is excessively bright and the meter needle
⓲ deects beyond scale, insert the High slide.
Read the foot-candle scale ❸ of the meter
needle ⓲. Transfer foot-candle value to the
dial scale ❼. Rotate the dial ring ⓰ and set the
scale mark ( ▲ ) ❽. If the High slide has been
inserted, set the H scale mark ( ) ❾. At this
time, the shutter speed scale ⓮ and aperture scale ⓯ combination becomes
the correct exposure.

【Lumisphere】
Using Lumisphere (with rose gold ring) ❶ for decoration may a󱐯ect measured
value. If you want to measure the exposure value accurately, please mount
Lumisphere ❶ (with black ring) for measurement to light sensor ❷.
【Lumidisc】
Use for illumination contrast adjustment and illuminance measurement. Mount
Lumidisc which is a standard accessory to light sensor ❷. For illuminance (Lux)
measurement, multiply foot-candle value by 10.76 to obtain lux.
2) Reected Light Measurement
Mount Lumigrid which is standard accessories to light sensor ❷.
From camera position, point Lumigrid directly
toward part of subject to be measured. The basic
measurement procedure is same as the Incident
light measurement, but when using the Lumigrid,
set the H scale mark ( ) ❾.
5. Other Functions
1）Stopper Button
By holding the stopper button ⓭ depressed and turning it clockwise so that
the mark ⓳ position becomes , the needle ⓲ is released. At this time, the
meter will deect freely even if the stopper button ⓭ is released.
To x the needle ⓲, turn the stopper button ⓭ counter-clockwise to where
the mark ⓳ is positioned
.
2）Memo Pointer
You can log the value by setting Memo Pointer ⓱to the meter needle ⓲
position or desirable setting position.
3）Exposure Value (EV number)
Reading the Exposure Value indicated by EV mark ❻ to perform setting
becomes convenient for cameras which employ a light value system of shutter
and aperture combination.
4）Cine Scale
Since the cine scale ⓬ numerals correspond to cine camera lm speed, it can
be used for shooting cine.
5）Exposure Multipliers
Exposure multiplier indications are provided at both sides of the Scale mark
( ▲ ) and the H scale mark ( ) ❾ of the dial scale. Use the -1 or -2 mark to
cut the exposure and +1 or +2 mark to multiply the exposure.
