1.1 About this manual
The manual is part of the product and contains important information about installation,
startup, operation and service. The manual is written for everyone installing, starting up
or servicing this product.
The manual must be accessible and legible. Make sure that persons responsible for the
system and its operation, as well as persons who work independently on the unit, have
read through the manual carefully and understood it. If you are unclear about any of the
information in this documentation, or if you require further information, contact SEW-

1.3 Rights to claim under limited warranty
A requirement of fault-free operation and fulfillment of any rights to claim under limited
warranty is that you adhere to the information in the MOVIDRIVE®documentation.
Therefore, read the operating instructions before you start working with the unit.
Make sure that the documentation is available to persons responsible for the system and
its operation as well as to persons who work independently on the unit. You must also
ensure that the documentation is legible.
1.4 Exclusion of liability
You must comply with the information contained in the MOVIDRIVE®documentation to
ensure safe operation of MOVIDRIVE®and to achieve the specified product character-
istics and performance requirements. SEW-EURODRIVE assumes no liability for injury
to persons or damage to equipment or property resulting from non-observance of the
documentation. In such cases, any liability for defects is excluded.

MDX60B/61B size 7 units. It supplements the MOVIDRIVE®MDX60B/61B operating in-
structions.

tions.
• Read the detailed operating instructions before you start working with MOVIDRIVE®
MDX60B/61B.
• Observe the information, instructions and notes in the detailed operating instructions.
This is essential for fault-free operation of the unit and fulfillment of any rights to claim
under guarantee.

2 Safety Notes
The following basic safety notes must be read carefully to prevent injury to persons and
damage to property. The operator must ensure that the basic safety notes are read and
observed. Make sure that persons responsible for the plant and its operation, as well as
persons who work independently on the unit, have read through the operating instruc-
tions carefully and understood them. If you are unclear about any of the information in
this documentation, please contact SEW-EURODRIVE.
2.1 General notes
Removing covers without authorization, improper use as well as incorrect installation or
operation may result in severe injuries to persons or damage to property.
Observe the information, instructions and notes in the detailed operating instructions.
2.2 Electrical connection
Observe the applicable national accident prevention guidelines when working on live
drive inverters (for example, BGV A3).
Perform electrical installation according to the pertinent regulations (e.g. cable cross
sections, fusing, protective conductor connection). For any additional information, refer
to the applicable documentation.
You will find notes on EMC compliant installation, such as shielding, grounding, arrange-
ment of filters and routing of lines, in the documentation of the drive inverters. Always
observe these notes even with drive inverters bearing the CE marking. The manufac-
turer of the system or machine is responsible for maintaining the limits established by
EMC legislation.
Protective measures and protection devices must comply with the regulations in force
(e.g. EN 60204 or EN 61800-5-1).
Required preventive measure: Grounding the unit.
MOVIDRIVE®B size 7 has an additional display LED under the lower front cover. The
lit display LED indicates a DC link voltage. Do not touch power connections. Check that
there is no voltage present before touching power connections even if the LED display
indicates that there is no voltage.

3.1 Unit design

3.2 Replacing a phase module
Proceed as follows to replace a phase module:
1. Loosen the 4 screws [4] of the upper cover [1] and remove it.
2. Loosen the 4 screws [5] of the lower cover [2] and remove it.
3. Remove the two eyebolts at the front.
4. Loosen the 4 screws [6] of the cover [3] and remove it.
5. Remove the plug connectors from the control unit (the control unit itself remains at-
tached).

6. Remove the 10 screws [10] of the front panel [11] on the inverter coupling. Remove
the cable rack [9] and the front panel [11]. To do so, lift the front panel [11] over the
control unit towards you.

7. Remove the 6 screws [14] of the UVW conductor rail bracket [13].
8. Loosen the 3 screws [15] of the connection from the UVW conductor rails [12] to the
phase modules. The conductor rails are flexible and you can bend them slightly to-
wards the front.
9. Disconnect the 3 cables from the inverter coupling to each phase module at the
phase modules.
10.Disconnect the 3 cables from the inverter coupling to the brake chopper module at
the inverter coupling.
