1.1 About this manual
The manual is part of the product and contains important information about installation,
startup, operation and service. The manual is written for everyone installing, starting up
or servicing this product.
The manual must be accessible and legible. Make sure that persons responsible for the
system and its operation, as well as persons who work independently on the unit, have
read through the manual carefully and understood it. If you are unclear about any of the
information in this documentation, or if you require further information, contact SEW-
EURODRIVE.

1.3 Rights to claim under limited warranty
A requirement of fault-free operation and fulfillment of any rights to claim under limited
warranty is that you adhere to the information in the MOVIDRIVE®documentation.
Therefore, read the operating instructions before you start working with the unit.
Make sure that the documentation is available to persons responsible for the system and
its operation as well as to persons who work independently on the unit. You must also
ensure that the documentation is legible.
1.4 Exclusion of liability
You must comply with the information contained in the MOVIDRIVE®documentation to
ensure safe operation of MOVIDRIVE®and to achieve the specified product character-
istics and performance requirements. SEW-EURODRIVE assumes no liability for injury
to persons or damage to equipment or property resulting from non-observance of the
documentation. In such cases, any liability for defects is excluded.

MDX60B/61B size 7 units. It supplements the MOVIDRIVE®MDX60B/61B operating in-
structions.
• Please note that this documentation does not replace the detailed operating instruc-
tions.
• Read the detailed operating instructions before you start working with MOVIDRIVE®
MDX60B/61B.
• Observe the information, instructions and notes in the detailed operating instructions.
This is essential for fault-free operation of the unit and fulfillment of any rights to claim
under guarantee.

2 Safety Notes
The following basic safety notes must be read carefully to prevent injury to persons and
damage to property. The operator must ensure that the basic safety notes are read and
observed. Make sure that persons responsible for the plant and its operation, as well as
persons who work independently on the unit, have read through the operating instruc-
tions carefully and understood them. If you are unclear about any of the information in
this documentation, please contact SEW-EURODRIVE.
2.1 General notes
Removing covers without authorization, improper use as well as incorrect installation or
operation may result in severe injuries to persons or damage to property.
Observe the information, instructions and notes in the detailed operating instructions.
2.2 Electrical connection
Observe the applicable national accident prevention guidelines when working on live
drive inverters (for example, BGV A3).
Perform electrical installation according to the pertinent regulations (e.g. cable cross
sections, fusing, protective conductor connection). For any additional information, refer
to the applicable documentation.
You will find notes on EMC compliant installation, such as shielding, grounding, arrange-
ment of filters and routing of lines, in the documentation of the drive inverters. Always
observe these notes even with drive inverters bearing the CE marking. The manufac-
turer of the system or machine is responsible for maintaining the limits established by
EMC legislation.
Protective measures and protection devices must comply with the regulations in force
(e.g. EN 60204 or EN 61800-5-1).
Required preventive measure: Grounding the unit.
MOVIDRIVE®B size 7 has an additional display LED under the lower front cover. The
lit display LED indicates a DC link voltage. Do not touch power connections. Check that
there is no voltage present before touching power connections even if the LED display
indicates that there is no voltage.

3.1 Unit design

3.2 Replacing a phase module
Proceed as follows to replace a phase module:
1. Loosen the 4 screws [4] of the upper cover [1] and remove it.
2. Loosen the 4 screws [5] of the lower cover [2] and remove it.
3. Remove the two eyebolts at the front.
4. Loosen the 4 screws [6] of the cover [3] and remove it.
5. Remove the plug connectors from the control unit (the control unit itself remains at-
tached).

6. Remove the 10 screws [10] of the front panel [11] on the inverter coupling. Remove
the cable rack [9] and the front panel [11]. To do so, lift the front panel [11] over the
control unit towards you.

7. Remove the 6 screws [14] of the UVW conductor rail bracket [13].
8. Loosen the 3 screws [15] of the connection from the UVW conductor rails [12] to the
phase modules. The conductor rails are flexible and you can bend them slightly to-
wards the front.
9. Disconnect the 3 cables from the inverter coupling to each phase module at the
phase modules.
10.Disconnect the 3 cables from the inverter coupling to the brake chopper module at
the inverter coupling.

11.Loosen the 6 retaining screws of the inverter coupling housing [19] on the phase
modules. Remove the inverter coupling housing [19] with the printed circuit board
and the control unit.

12.Loosen the 2 × 2 retaining screws of the lug at the phase module – DC link connec-
tion.
13.Remove the 2 lower retaining screws [22] of the phase module [21] in the frame. Re-
move the 2 upper retaining screws [22] of the phase module [21] in the frame. Lift the
module out towards the front.
14.Make sure the replacement module has the right part number and/or the right voltage
and power rating. Place the module on the fastening pin and mount it in reverse or-
der. When re-installing the phase module, make sure that the mounting plates of the
phase module are inserted behind the DC link lugs.
15.Replace the covers.

3.3 Replacing the brake chopper module
Proceed as follows to replace the brake chopper module:
1. Loosen the 4 screws of the upper cover and remove it.
2. Loosen the 4 screws of the lower cover and remove it.
3. Loosen the screw of the -R mounting lug at the brake chopper module (at the front).
4. Loosen the 2 screws of the +R mounting lug at the brake chopper module (bottom
right).
5. Loosen the 2 screws on the insulating spacers of the -R and +R mounting lugs. Re-
move the -R and +R mounting lugs.
6. Loosen the 2 × 2 retaining screws of the lug at the brake chopper module DC link
connection.
7. Disconnect the 3 cables from the inverter coupling to the brake chopper module at
the inverter coupling.
8. Loosen the 2 lower retaining screws of the brake chopper module in the frame.
Loosen the 2 upper retaining screws of the brake chopper module in the frame. Lift
the module out towards the front.
9. Make sure the replacement module has the right part number and/or the right voltage
and power rating. Place the module on the fastening pin and mount it in reverse or-
der.
10.Replace the covers.
INFORMATION
When replacing the brake chopper module, adhere to the following process description
and the drawings from chapters "Unit design" (page 7) and "Replacing a phase mod-
ule" (page 8).

3.4 Replacing the rectifier module
Proceed as follows to replace the rectifier module:
1. Loosen the 4 screws of the upper cover and remove it.
2. Loosen the 4 screws of the lower cover and remove it.
3. Loosen the 3 × 2 screws at the mounting lugs L1, L2, L3 on the insulating spacer.
4. Loosen the 3 × 2 screws at the mounting lugs L1, L2, L3 on the rectifier module and
remove the lugs.
5. Loosen the 2 × 2 retaining screws of the lug at the rectifier module DC link connec-
tion.
6. Open the cover of the precharge and discharge control.
7. Disconnect the precharge/discharge control from the rectifier.
8. Unscrew the precharge/discharge control from the rectifier module.
9. Remove the 2 lower retaining screws of the rectifier module in the frame. Remove
the 2 upper retaining screws of the rectifier module in the frame. Lift the module out
towards the front.
10.Make sure the replacement module has the right part number and/or the right voltage
and power rating. Place the module on the fastening pin and mount it in reverse or-
der.
11.Replace the covers.
INFORMATION
When replacing the rectifier module, adhere to the following process description and
the drawings from chapters "Unit design" (page 7) and "Replacing a phase module"
(page 8).

3.5 Replacing the fan subassembly
Proceed as follows to replace the fan subassembly:
1. Remove the phase, brake chopper or rectifier module [1].
2. Unscrew the fan subassembly.
3. Disconnect the fan subassembly from the module.
4. Connect the fan subassembly to the module again.
5. Insert the new fan subassembly and screw it on.
6. Re-install the phase, brake chopper or rectifier module.

3.6 Retrofitting the brake chopper module
Proceed as follows to retrofit the brake chopper module:
1. Loosen the 4 screws of the upper cover and remove it.
2. Loosen the 4 screws of the lower cover and remove it.
3. Make sure the brake chopper module has the right part number and/or the right volt-
age and power rating. Place the module onto the fastening pin.
4. Fix the 2 upper retaining screws of the brake chopper module in the frame. Fix the 2
lower retaining screws of the brake chopper module in the frame.
5. Fix the screw of the -R mounting lug at the brake chopper module (at the front).
6. Fix the 2 screws of the +R mounting lug at the brake chopper module (bottom right).
7. Fix 2 screws each at the +R and -R mounting lugs on the insulating spacer.
8. Loosen the 2 × 2 retaining screws of the lug at the brake chopper module DC link
connection.
9. Tighten all screws of the brake chopper module.
10.Remove the plug connectors from the control unit. Remove the lower shield plate
from the control unit (the control unit itself remains attached).
11.Remove the 8 screws of the front panel on the inverter coupling. Remove the cable
rack and the front panel. Lift the front panel over the control unit towards the front.
12.Connect the brake chopper module to the inverter coupling.
– Plug in the 3 cables on the left side of the inverter coupling.
– Route the cables through the opening on the left side of the inverter coupling
housing and down the left side of the unit to the brake chopper module.
– Use the designated mounting elements to fix the cables in position.
– Connect the cables to the inverter coupling.
13.Re-install the front panel of the inverter coupling, the cable rack, and the cables of
the control unit.
14.Replace the covers.

tion and the drawings from chapters "Unit design" (page 7) and "Replacing a phase
module" (page 8).

Conversion into an IT network unit

3.7 Conversion into an IT network unit
Size 7 is equipped with 2 "radio interference suppression" subassemblies [2], which are
connected from +Uzto PE and from -Uzto PE. The subassemblies are located at the U
and V phase modules [1] of the unit. Proceed as follows to convert the unit into an IT
network unit:
1. Loosen the 4 screws [3].
2. Remove the 2 subassemblies [2].
3. Screw the 2 screws of the phase module – DC link connection back in.
